Purpose: To evaluate the effectiveness of 12 months of spectacle lens wear incorporating cylindrical annular refractive elements (CARE) in slowing myopia progression compared to single vision (SV) spectacle wear.
Methods: In an ongoing 2-year prospective, double-masked, multi-centre clinical trial, 240 Chinese children aged 6-13 years, spherical equivalent refractive error (SE) -0.75 D to -5.

Purpose: To evaluate the visual performance in adolescents undergoing orthokeratology (OrthoK) treatment with two different optical zone diameters (OZDs).
Methods: This randomized, double-masked, self-controlled prospective study was conducted at Tianjin Eye Hospital (Tianjin, China) in June 2022. Thirty-six eligible schoolchildren were enrolled and fitted with corneal refractive therapy lenses with two sizes of OZDs (5 mm [5OZ] and 6 mm [6OZ]).

Aims: To report the 1-year results of the efficacy of a defocus distributed multipoint (DDM) lens in controlling myopia progression in a multicentre, randomised controlled trial.
Methods: Overall, 168 children aged 6-13 years were recruited and randomly assigned to wear a DDM lens (n=84) or single-vision (SV) lens (n=84) in three centres. Cycloplegic autorefraction (spherical equivalent refraction (SER)) and axial length (AL) were measured.

Importance: The global prevalence of myopia has shown a steady increase over recent decades, with urban areas seemingly experiencing a more significant impact.
Objective: To assess the association between urbanization and the prevalence, incidence, progression, and severity of myopia.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This cohort study included students in grades 1 to 6 in Tianjin, China, who underwent 3 vision examinations conducted over a 2-year period, from March 1, 2021, to March 31, 2023.

Purpose: In order to improve the efficiency of orthokeratology (OK) lens fitting and predict the axial length after 1 year of OK lens wear, machine learning models were proposed.
Methods: Clinical data from 1302 myopic subjects were collected retrospectively, and two machine learning models were implemented. Demographic and corneal topographic data were collected as input variables.
Purpose: Atropine eye drops have been shown to slow the progression of myopia, but there has been limited research on the effectiveness of 0.05% atropine in treating myopia. This study aimed to investigate the safety and efficacy of 0.

Background: The evaluation of refraction is indispensable in ophthalmic clinics, generally requiring a refractor or retinoscopy under cycloplegia. Retinal fundus photographs (RFPs) supply a wealth of information related to the human eye and might provide a promising approach that is more convenient and objective. Here, we aimed to develop and validate a fusion model-based deep learning system (FMDLS) to identify ocular refraction via RFPs and compare with the cycloplegic refraction.

Objective: To study the effect of treatment zone (TZ) decentration on axial length growth (ALG) in adolescents after wearing the orthokeratology lenses (OK lenses).
Materials And Methods: This retrospective clinical study selected 251 adolescents who were fitted OK lenses at the Clinical College of Ophthalmology, Tianjin Medical University (Tianjin, China) from January 2018-December 2018 and wore them continuously for >12 months. The age of the subjects was 8-15 years, spherical equivalent (SE): -1.

Purpose: To evaluate the association of near heterophoria with refraction and axial length (AL) in Chinese school children.
Methods: This school-based cross-sectional study included 15,081 Chinese primary school children (grades 1-6) examined during 2017. Near heterophoria was measured at 33 cm using the Maddox rod and prism test.

Introduction: To investigate changes in refractive error in schoolchildren before and during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
Methods: This study included 2792 students, who underwent a 3-year follow-up from 2018 to 2020. All participants underwent yearly noncycloplegic refraction and ocular examinations.
