Rhodiola crenulata, a plant of great medicinal value found in cold high-altitude regions, has been excessively exploited due to the difficulty in cultivation. Understanding Rhodiola crenulata's adaptation mechanisms to cold environment can provide a theoretical basis for artificial breeding. Glutathione peroxidases (GPXs), critical enzymes found in plants, play essential roles in antioxidant defense through the ascorbate-glutathione cycle.

Background: Following percutaneous coronary intervention with stent placement to treat acute coronary syndromes, international clinical guidelines generally recommend dual antiplatelet therapy with aspirin plus a P2Y receptor inhibitor for 12 months to prevent myocardial infarction and stent thrombosis. However, data on single antiplatelet therapy with a potent P2Y inhibitor earlier than 12 months after percutaneous coronary intervention for patients with an acute coronary syndrome are scarce. The aim of this trial was to assess whether the use of ticagrelor alone, compared with ticagrelor plus aspirin, could reduce the incidence of clinically relevant bleeding events without an accompanying increase in major adverse cardiovascular or cerebrovascular events (MACCE).

Background: The most appropriate tool for estimating the pretest probability (PTP) of obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD) in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) and stable chest pain (SCP) remains unknown. Therefore, we aimed to validate and compare two recent models, namely, the risk factor-weighted clinical likelihood (RF-CL) model and coronary artery calcium score (CACS)-weighted clinical likelihood (CACS-CL) model, in these patient populations.
Methods: A total of 1,245 symptomatic patients with DM, who underwent CACS and coronary computed tomographic angiography (CCTA) scan, were identified and followed up.

Background: Globally, esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) stands out as a common cancer type, characterized by its notably high rates of occurrence and mortality. Recent advancements in treatment methods, including immunotherapy, have shown promise, yet the prognosis remains poor. In the context of tumor development and treatment outcomes, the tumor microenvironment (TME), especially the function of dendritic cells (DCs), is significantly influential.

Background: The first-line standard treatment option for patients with NSCLC complicated with Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is still unclear and relies on the treatment option of NSCLC alone. To date, a limited number of retrospective studies have explored the efficacy and safety of immunotherapy in patients with NSCLC complicated with COPD. We therefore designed this study to further explore the efficacy and safety of first-line immunotherapy in patients with NSCLC complicated with COPD.

Background: Venoarterial (VA) extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), an effective short-term circulatory support method for refractory cardiogenic shock, is widely applied. However, retrospective analyses have shown that VA-ECMO-assisted cases were associated with a relatively high mortality rate of approximately 60%. Embolization in important organs caused by complications of left ventricular thrombosis (LVT) during VA-ECMO is also an important reason.

Background: Neoadjuvant immune checkpoint inhibitors(ICIs) combined with chemotherapy can improve non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC) patients' pathological responses and show promising improvements in survival. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a systemic inflammatory disease, and its associated abnormal inflammatory response affects not only the immunotherapy efficacy but also immune-related adverse events. It remains unclear whether NSCLC patients with COPD can benefit from neoadjuvant ICIs combined with chemotherapy.

Contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is seriously limited in kidney injury detection due to the nephrotoxicity of clinically used gadolinium-based contrast agents. Herein, we propose a noninvasive method for the assessment of kidney injury by combining structure and function information based on manganese (Mn)-enhanced MRI for the first time. As a proof of concept, the Mn-melanin nanoprobe with good biocompatibility and excellent T1 relaxivity is applied in MRI of a unilateral ureteral obstruction mice model.

With the rapid development of new generations of antitumor therapies, the average survival time of cancer patients is expected to be continuously prolonged. However, these therapies often lead to cardiotoxicity, resulting in a growing number of tumor survivors with cardiovascular disease. Therefore, a new interdisciplinary subspecialty called "cardio-oncology" has emerged, aiming to detect and treat cardiovascular diseases associated with tumors and antitumor therapies.
