Objectives: To use H9c2 cardiomyocytes to establish a diabetic cardiomyopathic model by exposing these cells to high glucose (HG), followed by treating them with melatonin (MEL) or plasmid vectors overexpressing FUN14 Domain Containing 1 (FUNDC1).

Methods: We employed quantitative real-time PCR, mitochondrial staining, and biochemical assays to measure the activity of various antioxidant and mitochondrial complex functions under various treatment conditions.

Key Findings: Our results showed that HG induced the expression of FUNDC1 and increased mitochondrial oxidative stress and fragmentation, while MEL treatment reversed most of these pathological effects.

Given the risks of poor patient compliance and bleeding associated with current dual antiplatelet therapies, it is urgent to develop the next generation of cardiovascular stents with anticoagulation and rapid endothelialization capabilities. Inspired by the prominent bioactivity and bioavailability of zeolitic imidazolate framework-90 (ZIF-90) in driving endothelial cell (EC) morphogenesis, this research proposes a "synergistic anticoagulant and endothelial regeneration strategy" depending on mussel-inspired phospholipid copolymer (MIPC) and ZIF-90. Depending on the copolymerization of the catechol with dopamine (Dopa) monomers, Dopa/MIPC coating was immobilized on the surface of CoCr via a one-pot process for resisting the initial thrombosis induced by platelets and fibrinogen.

  • The ideal baking condition identified for improving both antioxidant benefits and sensory quality while minimizing MRPs was 210 °C for 10 minutes, indicating a balance between flavor and health benefits can be achieved.

Bimetallic zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (BZIFs) have received enormous attention due to their unique physi-chemical properties, but are rarely reported for electrically conductive hydrogel (ECH) applications arising from low intrinsic conductivity and poor dispersion. Herein, we propose an innovative strategy to prepare highly conductive and mechanically robust ECHs by in situ growing Ni/Co-BZIFs within the polyvinyl alcohol/sodium alginate dual network (PZPS). 2-methylimidazole (MeIM) ligands copolymerize with pyrrole monomers, enhancing the electrical conductivity; meanwhile, MeIM ligands act as anchor points for in-situ formation of BZIFs, effectively avoiding phase-to-phase interfacial resistance and ensuring a uniform distribution in the hydrogel network.

Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), as a relatively rapid and effective minimally invasive treatment for coronary heart disease (CHD), can effectively relieve coronary artery stenosis and restore myocardial perfusion. However, the occurrence of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) is a significant challenge for post PCI care.
