Background: To observe and compare the differences in von Willebrand factor antigen (vWF:Ag) levels between patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and healthy residents, and to determine whether this measure can be used to evaluate the incidence of AMI and whether or not to undertake cardiac bypass surgery.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted using the clinical data of 110 patients with acute cardiovascular disease without bypass (no bypass group), 351 patients with AMI and bypass (bypass group), and 60 healthy volunteers (healthy group) who underwent physical examination between July 2018 and May 2019 in Tianjin Chest Hospital. The plasma vWF:Ag was measured and the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was utilized to critically assess its efficacy in determining the occurrence and prognosis of AMI, and the Chi-square test was used to evaluate the correlation between vWF:Ag and clinicopathological factors.

Background: Stanford type A aortic dissection (TAAD) has a sudden onset and high mortality, and emergency total aortic arch replacement (TAAR) is the main treatment option for TAAD. The mortality rate of patients with postoperative acute kidney injury (AKI) combined with continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) is remarkable higher than that of patients without AKI. However, incidence of AKI and risk factors for CRRT following TAAR isn't entirely understood.

Background: The purpose of the study was to assess the relationship between preoperative laboratory examination, clinical imaging data, and postoperative death of patients with acute type A aortic dissection (ATAAD) and to establish a prediction model of hospital death risk after the operation.
Methods: A total of 224 cases of acute Standford A aortic dissection were treated by total arch replacement using a tetrafurcate graft with stented elephant trunk implantation in Tianjin Chest Hospital. Based on preoperative laboratory examination and clinical imaging data of patients with ATAAD, the independent risk factors of postoperative hospital death were obtained using logistic analysis, and a risk prediction model of postoperative hospital death was developed.
Background Inflammation in epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) may contribute to coronary atherosclerosis. Myocardial bridge is a congenital anomaly in which the left anterior descending coronary artery takes a "tunneled" course under a bridge of myocardium: while atherosclerosis develops in the proximal left anterior descending coronary artery, the bridged portion is spared, highlighting the possibility that geographic separation from inflamed EAT is protective. We tested the hypothesis that inflammation in EAT was related to atherosclerosis by comparing EAT from proximal and bridge depots in individuals with myocardial bridge and varying degrees of atherosclerotic plaque.

Electrocardiogram (ECG) indicates the occurrence of various cardiac diseases, and the accurate classification of ECG signals is important for the automatic diagnosis of arrhythmia. This paper presents a novel classification method based on multiple features by combining waveform morphology and frequency domain statistical analysis, which offer improved classification accuracy and minimise the time spent for classifying signals. A wavelet packet is used to decompose a denoised ECG signal, and the singular value, maximum value, and standard deviation of the decomposed wavelet packet coefficients are calculated to obtain the frequency domain feature space.

Myopia is a major public health concern with increasing global prevalence and is the leading cause of vision loss and complications. The potential role of the cornea, a substantial component of refractive power and the protective fortress of the eye, has been underestimated in the development of myopia. Our study acquired corneal stroma tissues from myopic patients undergoing femtosecond laser-assisted small incision lenticule extraction (SMILE) surgery and investigated the differential expression of circulating proteins between subjects with low and high myopia by means of high-throughput proteomic approaches-the quantitative tandem mass tag (TMT) labeling method and parallel reaction monitoring (PRM) validation.

Objectives: This study aimed to compare the current 5 investigation strategies to defer cardiac testing in patients with stable chest pain.
Background: For the clinical management of stable chest pain, the identification of patients unlikely to benefit from further cardiac testing is important, but the most appropriate investigation strategy is unknown.
Methods: A total of 4,207 patients referred to coronary computed tomography angiography for stable chest pain were classified into low- and high-risk groups according to the 2016 National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guideline-determined strategy; PROMISE (Prospective Multicenter Imaging Study for Evaluation of Chest Pain) minimal risk tool-based strategy; 2019 European Society of Cardiology (ESC) guideline-determined strategy; and coronary artery calcium score (CACS), either in isolation (the CACS strategy) or as part of a weighted clinical likelihood model-based strategy (the CACS-CL strategy).
