In this report, we present a case study of an extremely rare left sinus Valsalva aneurysm (SVA) rupture into the left-ventricular myocardium. Acute ozone inhalation and long-term hypertension are possible contributors to the condition. Utilizing multimodal cardiovascular imaging techniques [echocardiogram, computed tomography (CT), and cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR)], a large, left-ventricular, intramural pseudoaneurysm (IPA) arising from the ruptured left SVA, was clearly observed anatomically and functionally.

Exercise Training Protects Against Heart Failure Via Expansion of Myeloid-Derived Suppressor Cells Through Regulating IL-10/STAT3/S100A9 Pathway.

Circ Heart Fail

March 2022

Department of Molecular Pharmacology, School of Medicine, Nankai University, Tianjin, China (L.F., G.L., J.A., C.L., Y.X., Y.G., J. Li, J. Liu, J.Y., Y.W., L.Y., Z.Q.).

Background: Exercise training (ET) has a protective effect on the progression of heart failure, however, the specific mechanism has not been fully explored. Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) are a group of myeloid-derived immunosuppressive cells, which showed a protective effect in the progression of heart failure. Thus, we hypothesized that the protective effect of ET on heart failure may be related to the infiltration of MDSCs.

Several studies have demonstrated that using a higher dose of statin can easily induce liver injury and myopathy. Low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) is a well-established modifiable risk factor for cardiovascular disease; however, the large majority of Chinese patients cannot meet the target level of LDL-C recommended by the Chinese expert consensus. Evolocumab has been demonstrated to reduce LDL-C by approximately 60% in many studies.

Organic Nanoplatforms for Iodinated Contrast Media in CT Imaging.

Molecules

November 2021

Department of Cardiology, Tianjin Chest Hospital, Tianjin University, Tianjin 300222, China.

X-ray computed tomography (CT) imaging can produce three-dimensional and high-resolution anatomical images without invasion, which is extremely useful for disease diagnosis in the clinic. However, its applications are still severely limited by the intrinsic drawbacks of contrast media (mainly iodinated water-soluble molecules), such as rapid clearance, serious toxicity, inefficient targetability and poor sensitivity. Due to their high biocompatibility, flexibility in preparation and modification and simplicity for drug loading, organic nanoparticles (NPs), including liposomes, nanoemulsions, micelles, polymersomes, dendrimers, polymer conjugates and polymeric particles, have demonstrated tremendous potential for use in the efficient delivery of iodinated contrast media (ICMs).

Background: To observe the analgesic effect of different ultrasound-guided methods of serratus anterior plane block (SAPB) after surgery in patients who have undergone thoracoscopic lobectomy with general anesthesia combined with thoracic paravertebral nerve block.

Methods: A total of 120 patients aged 18-65 years old scheduled for video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) were selected. Patients were randomly divided into 3 groups: patient-controlled intravenous analgesia (PCIA) group, serratus anterior plane block (SPB) group and continuous serratus anterior plane block (CSPB) group (n=40 each).

To investigate the compliance and the outcome of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) after treatment of revascularization. In this prospective cohort study, the non-exposure group (NEG), low-exposure group (LEG), and high-exposure group (HEG) were divided after 2 years follow-up. The primary outcome was a composite of death from cardiovascular causes, non-lethal myocardial infarction, heart transplantation, or stroke.

Objective: By observing the effect of N-acetylcysteine (NAC) on the proliferation and collagen synthesis of rat cardiac fibroblasts (CFs) to explore the effect of NAC on cardiac remodeling (CR).

Methods: , first, the Sprague Dawley (SD) rat myocardial hypertrophy model was constructed, and the effect of NAC on cardiac structure and function was detected by echocardiography, serological testing, and Masson staining. Western blotting (WB) and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) were used to detect the expression level of antioxidant enzymes, and flow cytometry was used to detect the intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) content.

Polymers for Improved Delivery of Iodinated Contrast Agents.

ACS Biomater Sci Eng

January 2022

Department of Polymer Science and Engineering, Key Laboratory of Systems Bioengineering of the Ministry of Education, School of Chemical Engineering and Technology, Tianjin University, Tianjin 300350, China.

X-ray computed tomography (CT), as one of the most widely used noninvasive imaging modalities, can provide three-dimensional anatomic details with high resolution, which plays a key role in disease diagnosis and treatment assessment. However, although they are the most prevalent and FDA-approved contrast agents, iodinated water-soluble molecules still face some challenges in clinical applications, such as fast clearance, serious adverse effects, nonspecific distribution, and low sensitivity. Because of their high biocompatibility, tunable designability, controllable biodegradation, facile synthesis, and modification capability, the polymers have demonstrated great potential for efficient delivery of iodinated contrast agents (ICAs).

Aim: Acute lung injury (ALI) and resultant acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) are detrimental inflammatory disease associated with high rates of morbidity and mortality due to a lack of effective treatment options. Previous study has demonstrated that an inhibition of geranylgeranyl pyrophosphate synthase large subunit 1 (GGPPS1) show a protective effect against ALI.

Method: In this study, by using connective map (CMAP), we identified catechin as a potential drug to exhibit similar effects to inhibit GGPPS1.

Background: It is difficult to choose correctly interventional strategy for coronary intermediate lesions combined with myocardial bridge. Endovascular imaging is advocated to guide treatment, but flow reserve fraction (FFR) is not recommended to guide the interventional treatment of myocardial bridge disease because of the inaccurate judgment misled by myocardial bridge.

Case Presentation: In this study, we reported a case of a 56-year-old male patient with unstable angina pectoris (UAP).
