Contrast-induced acute kidney injury (CIAKI) is an important clinical complication that occurs after the application of contrast agent in percutaneous coronary intervention. The pathogenesis of CIAKI is complex. Studies have shown that cell apoptosis induced by endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) plays an important role in renal tubular injury in CIAKI.

Background: Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) U731166 and microRNA (miR)-3607-3p are two ncRNAs with critical roles in cancer biology, while their involvement in esophageal squamous-cell carcinomas (ESCC) is unclear. We predicted that U731166 and miR-3607-3p might interact with each other. This study aimed to investigate their role and interaction in ESCC.

Objective: To undertake a meta-analysis of cohort studies to evaluate sex-based differences for patients with acute type A aortic dissection (ATAAD).
Methods: A systematic search was performed across PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library (2000-2023) for studies reporting sex-related discrepancies in clinical presentation, and/or in-hospital management, and/or outcomes. Study effects were assessed utilizing mean difference or risk ratio (RR) as aggregated estimates.

Up to half of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cases are diagnosed at an advanced stage, for which effective treatment options are lacking, resulting in a poor prognosis. Over the past few years, the combination of immune checkpoint inhibitors and anti-angiogenic targeted therapy has proven highly efficacious in treating advanced HCC, significantly extending patients' survival and providing a potential for sequential curative surgery. After sequential curative hepatectomy or liver transplantation following conversion therapy, patients can receive long-term survival benefits.

A randomized double-blind phase 3 trial (CHOICE-01, NCT03856411) demonstrated that combining toripalimab with chemotherapy substantially improves progression-free survival (PFS) in advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients without pretreatment. This study presents the prespecified final analysis of overall survival (OS) and biomarkers utilizing circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) and tissue-based sequencing. Additionally, the analysis revealed a higher median overall survival (OS, 23.

Purpose: To investigate the potential of 4D flow MRI-derived pulmonary hemodynamic parameters as sensitive markers for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients with right ventricular dysfunction (RVD).
Methods: We enrolled 15 COPD patients combined with RVD and 43 non-RVD participants, all of them underwent pulmonary function tests, thoracic CT and cardiac MR examinations, and the image post-processing analysis was completed. After comparing the 2 groups, the average flow velocity of the main pulmonary artery (Vavg-MPA) and the right pulmonary artery (Vavg-RPA) were identified as statistically significant confounding factors, propensity score matching was used to pair patients controlling for these 2 parameters.

Objective: To develop a multimodal predictive model, Radiomics Integrated TLSs System (RAITS), based on preoperative CT radiomic features for the identification of TLSs in stage I lung adenocarcinoma patients and to evaluate its potential in prognosis stratification and guiding personalized treatment.
Methods: The most recent preoperative chest CT thin-slice scans and postoperative hematoxylin and eosin-stained pathology sections of patients diagnosed with stage I LUAD were retrospectively collected. Tumor segmentation was achieved using an automatic virtual adversarial training segmentation algorithm based on a three-dimensional U-shape convolutional neural network (3D U-Net).

BACKGROUND Coronary artery ectasia (CAE) represents not only an anatomical variant but also a clinical constellation of coronary artery disease associated with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). There is no consensus on the antithrombotic treatment for patients with CEA. CASE REPORT A 34-year-old man with severe diffuse dilatation of the left main artery and left circumflex (LCX) proximal segment confirmed by coronary angiography (CAG) developed 2 acute myocardial infarctions (AMIs), due to occlusion of a dilated LCX segment with thrombus shadows, within a 9-year interval.

Introduction: The early prediction of sepsis based on machine learning or deep learning has achieved good results. Most of the methods use structured data stored in electronic medical records, but the pathological characteristics of sepsis involve complex interactions between multiple physiological systems and signaling pathways, resulting in mixed structured data. Some researchers will introduce unstructured data when also introduce confounders.

Question: What is the effect of 3 days of preoperative inspiratory muscle training (IMT) on lung function prior to heart valve surgery and on postoperative lung function and pulmonary complications compared with sham and no IMT?
Design: A three-arm, multicentre, randomised controlled trial with concealed allocation, intention-to-treat analysis and blinded assessment of some outcomes.
Participants: This study included 228 adults scheduled for heart valve surgery.
Interventions: The IMT group received 3 days of IMT at 30% maximal inspiratory pressure, the sham IMT group received the same but at 10% maximal inspiratory pressure and the control group received no IMT.

Macrophages play a crucial role in malignant pleural effusion (MPE), a frequent complication of advanced cancer. While C1q macrophages have been identified as a pro-tumoral cluster, direct evidence supporting the role of C1q-mediated macrophages remains to be elucidated. This study employed global and macrophage-specific knockout mice to investigate the role of C1q in MPE.

Background And Aims: It remains uncertain whether pericoronary adipose tissue attenuation (PCATa) is associated with clinical outcome in patients with nonobstructive coronary artery disease (CAD). We aim to investigate the incremental prognostic value of PCATa beyond clinical and coronary computed tomographic angiography (CCTA) features in patients with nonobstructive CAD.
Methods: Consecutive patients with chest pain suspected of CAD referred for CCTA from January 2017 to December 2018 were prospectively included.

Noncompressible hemorrhage control is vital for clinical outcome after surgical treatment and prehospital trauma injuries. Meanwhile, wound bleeding and tissue damage could induce postoperative adhesions, leading to a severe threat to the health of patients. Considerable research had been conducted on the development of hemostatic and antiadhesive materials.

In spite of the hypoxia tumor microenvironment, an efficacious treatment with minimal invasiveness is highly desirable. Among common cellular organelles, mitochondria is a common target for inductive cellular apoptosis and tumor proliferation inhibition. Nevertheless, tumor hypoxic circumstances always give rise to poor therapeutic efficiency and instead lead to lesion recurrence and unsatisfactory prognosis.
