CXCR4 is the receptor of stromal cell-derived factor (SDF-1) and is expressed in many types of cancer cells. It also plays an important role in metastasis of malignant disease. In this study, we detected the expression of CXCR4 in 81 patients with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) by flow cytometry.

Temperature scanning tests and uniaxial tensile tests at room temperature under different strain rates for three kinds of existing low-temperature outside fixed thermoplastic medical polymer resin materials (A, B and C) were conducted on dynamic mechanical analyzer and micro material testing machine to contrast their mechanical properties. It is shown that the glass transition temperatures of these three materials are all around 65 degrees C, but material C has the widest range of shaping temperature. Stress-strain responses of the three materials are rate-dependent and material C shows better plasticity.

To study the role of SHP-1 methylation in the pathogenesis of myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), we detect the methylation status of SHP-1 promoter and STAT3 phosphorylation of MDS patients by the methylation-specific PCR and Western blotting, respectively. It is found that the methylation rate of SHP-1 promoter of high-risk MDS patients (69.2%) was higher than that of the low-risk MDS patients (21.

Vasculogenic mimicry (VM) is an alternative type of blood supplement and is responsible for aggressive tumor biology and increased tumor-related mortality. Tumor cells obtain oxygen and nutriment through VM channels in the early, rapid-growth stage when blood vessels are insufficient. VM channels are characterized by tubular structures with tumor cells.

Background: S100A8 and S100A9 are two members of the S100 protein family characterized by the presence of two Ca2+-binding sites of the EF-hand type. Previous studies suggested that the whole S100 family displays significant functions in tumor growth, progression and invasion. This study aimed to determine the expression of the two indices of the family, S100A8 and S100A9, in lung cancer tissues and normal lung tissues and its correlation with clinical features.

Accumulating data provide evidence that autophagy contributes to programmed cell death (PCD) under certain circumstances. Immunohistochemistry and real-time PCR were performed to investigate the correlation the expression of autophagy-related proteins LC3 and Atg4B and linearly patterned programmed cell necrosis (LPPCN) in melanoma. LPPCN was recently reported to be a special PCD, which is similar to neither apoptosis nor conventional necrosis commonly observed in tumoral tissues.

Background: The Tientsin Albino 2 (TA2) mouse is an inbred strain originating from the Kunming strain. It has a high incidence of spontaneous breast cancer without the need for external inducers or carcinogens. Until now, the mechanism of carcinogenesis has remained unclear.

To investigate the possibility that tumor cells undergoing linearly patterned programmed cell necrosis (LPPCN) establish a spatial foundation for vasculogenic mimicry (VM) and to reveal that hypoxia influences LPPCN formation as well as Endo G and DNase 1 expression, 78 C57 mice were divided evenly into two groups and engrafted with B16 melanoma. Starting 9 days after inoculation, subgroups of mice were killed every 2 days. LPPCN and the tumor blood supply vessel types were counted and Endo G and DNase 1 mRNA expression were measured.

Gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) is the most common mesenchymal neoplasm in the gastrointestinal tract and is associated with mutations of the KIT or PDGFRA gene. In addition, other genetic events are believed to be involved in GIST tumorigenesis. Cytogenetic aberrations associated with these tumors thus far described include loss of 1p, 13q, 14q, or 15q, loss of heterozygosity of 22q, numeric chromosomal imbalances, and nuclear/mitochondrial microsatellite instability.

Leiomyosarcoma is a malignant mesenchymal tumor composed of cells showing smooth muscle differentiation. This tumor usually occurs in middle-aged or older adults, and forms a significant percentage of retroperitoneal, vascular, extremity, and uterine sarcomas. Leiomyosarcomas are most often associated with complex karyotypes with numerous chromosomal gains and losses.

Object: To investigate the influence of different microenvironments on tumor microcirculation patterns and invasiveness capability.
Methods: Melanoma B16 cells were injected into the abdominal cavity and skeletal muscle of C57 mice synchronously. CK-18 expression in melanoma was assessed to distinguish the malignant phenotype of tumors in the abdominal cavity from that in the skeletal muscle.

In order to investigate the role of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) in human breast cancer cell proliferation and apoptosis, a mtDNA-deficient cell line, T47D rho(0), was generated following a long-term exposure to ethidium bromide (EtBr). T47D rho(0) cells showed a marked decrease in mitochondrial membrane potential (DeltaPsi(m)). However, the apoptosis rate of T47D rho(0) cells was the same as that of their parental cells, suggesting that the change in DeltaPsi(m) was insufficient to induce cell death.

Objective: To observe the trend in the change of incidence and mortality of female breast cancer in Tianjin and evaluate its effect of prevention.
Methods: Method of descriptive epidemiology was used to study the epidemic situation of female breast cancer in Tianjin.
Results: The incidence of breast cancer in Tianjin had increased by 39.

In mastectomy specimens, the primary foci of occult breast carcinoma were examinated usually by routine histopathological method, but the result was not satisfactory. The detecting rates of primary foci were 50%-56% in China and 45%-75% in some other countries. In this study, whole organ subserial section was performed in 20 cases of occult breast cancer from April, 1988 to February, 1994.
