Objective: To analyze the efficacy of the S-Detect AI system of the Samsung RS85 ultrasound scanner (South Korea) in stratifying thyroid nodules compared to data obtained by specialist of ultrasound diagnostics.
Material And Methods: In 2024, we analyzed ultrasound data of 80 patients with thyroid nodules who required fine-needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB). Patients underwent thyroid ultrasound with nodule assessment according to the EU TI-RADS classification (GE Voluson E8 scanner, USA).

Ultrasound-guided thermal ablation (TA) is a minimally invasive intervention for treating benign thyroid nodules (BTNs). This meta-analysis aims to systematically compare the safety and efficacy of ultrasound-guided TA with surgery in treating BTNs. Relevant studies were identified through searching electronic databases.

BACKGROUND We present a rare case of an ectopic thyroid nodule hyperplasia, confirmed postoperatively after excision and histopathological examination of a chronic cervical mass. We discuss the different clinical and therapeutic features of this rare thyroid dysgenesis caused by a defect of migration of the gland along its normal way of descent. CASE REPORT A 48-year-old man with a history of hypertension and asthma presented with dysphagia and a progressively growing firm mass at the anterior part of his neck over the past 6 months.

This study evaluates the clinical efficacy of microwave ablation in patients with benign thyroid nodules based on contrast-enhanced ultrasound. A total of 92 patients with benign thyroid nodules admitted to our hospital from January 2020 to December 2022 were selected as research subjects and divided into control group and observation group according to different treatment methods, with 46 cases in each group. All patients received microwave ablation.

In the thyroid, abnormal growth can be the result of either benign thyroid nodules (BTNs) or differentiated thyroid cancers (DTCs). If the growth is confirmed to be a DTC, surgical intervention, either a partial or total thyroidectomy, is recommended. Although a majority of BTNs do not require treatment, intervention becomes necessary when nodules cause symptoms, enlargement, or a rare suspicion of malignancy.

Concomitant medullary thyroid carcinoma and papillary thyroid carcinoma in the thyroid gland are rare; however, the incidence is increasing. Here, we present the case of a 77-year-old male who was incidentally found to have thyroid nodules after a road traffic accident. Fine-needle aspiration revealed two inconclusive Bethesda classifications: follicular neoplasm and unsatisfactory.

Background: Accurately diagnosing thyroid nodules is vital for preventing unnecessary surgeries and providing prompt therapy. Although fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) and ultrasonography (US) are widely used diagnostic methods, their reliability is questioned. This study investigates the effectiveness of US and FNAC in thyroid nodule diagnosis and differentiates benign from malignant nodules in relation to final histopathological diagnosis.

The thyroid nodule is a frequent lesion within the thyroid. Its incidence is between 50%-60% and most of them are asymptomatic and benign (90-95%) and its diagnosis is frequently made as an incidental finding. The main objective of their study is to rule out thyroid cancer.

Introduction: Shear wave elastography (SWE) is an ultrasound diagnostic method used to measure tissue stiffness. Since the mechanical properties of tissue involved in the pathological process change, SWE might indicate regions of the examined tissue covered by the disease. It is well documented that SWE helps to differentiate benign and malignant nodules in thyroid glands in adults, however, there are few studies on the application of SWE in thyroid diagnosis in children.

Objective: Tumor necrosis factor alpha inhibitors are frequently used in the treatment of axial spondyloarthritis. While tumor necrosis factor alpha is associated with some malignancies, studies on its effects on thyroid functions and thyroid nodules are limited. This study aimed to assess the effect of tumor necrosis factor alpha inhibitors treatments on the evaluation of thyroid nodules and thyroid function tests in axial spondyloarthritis patients.

Afirma Genomic Sequencing Classifier (GSC) testing has been utilized for further risk stratification of thyroid nodules categorized as atypia of undetermined significance (AUS). The 2023 Bethesda system subcategorizes AUS diagnosis into AUS with nuclear atypia (AUS-N) and other atypia (AUS-O). The current study aims to determine if performance of GSC testing differs between the two AUS subcategories and between single AUS cohort and repeat AUS cohort.

Purpose: Thyroid nodules diagnosed by fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) as TIR3A or Class III subgroup "other types of atypia" (indeterminate thyroid nodules - ITNs), are the only ones without a unique clinical action indicated for management. This leads to multiple FNAC repetitions (FNAC-reps) and lifelong follow-up, with huge consumption of time and resources. The aims of the study were to inquire the usefulness of repeating FNAC in ITNs and perform an evaluation of a long-term follow-up of a large cohort of ITNs.

Aim: The British Thyroid Association (BTA) Guidelines for the Management of Thyroid Cancer advocate for fine-needle aspiration cytology for all thyroid nodules graded indeterminate (U3) at ultrasound assessment. This approach raises concerns regarding potential over-diagnosis of low-risk lesions. Conversely, equivalent Thyroid Imaging Reporting and Data Systems (TIRADS) guidelines permit surveillance or discharge of indeterminate thyroid nodules of certain sizes.

Syndrome of thyroid hormone resistance (THR) is a rare inherited condition characterized by a reduced responsiveness of the tissues to the thyroid hormone. The syndrome is caused primarily by mutations in the thyroid hormone receptor beta (THRB) gene, leading to impaired hormone receptor function. It is a diagnosis of exclusion and often leads to delays in establishing the diagnosis.

Sclerosing mucoepidermoid carcinoma with eosinophilia (SMECE) is a rare thyroid malignancy typically linked to chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis. We present the first documented case of SMECE in Georgia, involving a 41-year-old woman with Hashimoto's thyroiditis. A 16 mm hypoechoic thyroid nodule was detected on routine ultrasound, and fine needle aspiration categorized it as Bethesda V.
