Introduction: There is no established scoring model focused on viral hepatitis patients to predict the prognosis after transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS). We aimed to develop and validate a novel model based on the largest cohort for better prediction of both short-term (1 year) and long-term (3 years) postoperative prognoses after TIPS in viral hepatitis cirrhosis-related portal hypertension patients.

Methods: A total of 925 viral hepatitis cirrhosis-related portal hypertension patients who underwent TIPS from nine hospitals were divided into the training and external validation cohorts.

Background And Objective: Dysregulated expression of Forkhead Box N2 (FOXN2) has been detected in various cancer types. However, the underlying mechanisms by which FOXN2 contributes to the onset and progression of gastric cancer (GC) remain largely unexplored. This study aimed to elucidate the potential role of FOXN2 within GC, its downstream molecular mechanisms, and its feasibility as a novel serum biomarker for GC.

Previous studies have proved circFN1 is highly expressed in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients and AML cell lines. This study aims to investigate the impact of circFN1 on AML and its mechanism. Via real-time quantitative PCR to detect circFN1, miR-1294, ARHGEF10L expressions in clinical plasma samples and AML cell lines, AML cells were cultured in vitro and transfected with si-circFN1, pcDNA3.

This study was carried out to investigate the molecular mechanism of microRNA-26 (miR-26) targeting BNIP3 to mediate proliferation and apoptosis of multiple myeloma (MM) cells. The expression of miR-26 and BNIP3 in MM and normal tissues was detected by qRT-PCR and Western blot. According to the average expression of miR-26 and BNIP3, the patients were divided into 12 cases with high miR-26 expression group, 18 cases with low miR-26 expression group, 20 cases with BNIP3 high expression group, and 10 cases with BNIP3 low expression group.

Background And Objective: Lateral pelvic lymph node (LPLN) metastasis is one of the prominent reasons for local recurrence (LR) in patients with rectal cancer (RC). The evaluation criteria of lateral lymph node dissection (LLND) for patients in eastern (mainly in Japan) and western countries have been controversial. The aim of this study was to analyse the risk factors for LPLN metastasis in order to guide surgical methods.

Objective: This study aims to construct a nomogram model for predicting poor prognosis in acute leukemia with trisomy 8.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 244 patients with primary acute leukemia with trisomy 8 who received treatment in our hospital, and they were randomly divided into the modeling group (122 cases, including 78 cases with good prognosis and 44 cases with poor prognosis) and the verification group (122 cases). R software was used to construct a nomogram model for predicting poor prognosis in acute leukemia with trisomy 8.

Effectiveness of the "Internet-Plus"-Based Life-Cycle Management on Pediatric Chronic Diseases.

Iran J Public Health

June 2023

Department of Pediatric Comprehensive Internal Medicine, Three Gorges Hospital Affiliated to Chongqing University, Chongqing, 404100, China.

Background: We aimed to assess the effect of life-cycle management on the satisfaction and health outcomes of children with chronic diseases and their parents, as well as the career benefits of healthcare workers.

Methods: Participants were children with chronic diseases who received long-term treatment at the Three Gorges Hospital Affiliated to Chongqing University from January 2021 to November 2022. From the first admission, compare the children's disease onset, satisfaction and professional benefits of medical staff among "Medical and Nursing Integration" + "Internet plus"-based life cycle management group (n = 221, the experimental group), the routine management group (n = 53, the control group 1) and the "Medical and Nursing Integration" group (n = 67, control group 2).

Cardiovascular disease is a major threat to human health and has become the leading cause of death worldwide; therefore, early diagnosis and treatment are of great value. Due to its miniaturization, integration, and ease of operation, microfluidic technology enables the rapid, multi-target detection of cardiovascular disease markers and significantly facilitates the early and rapid diagnosis of cardiovascular disease. This article reviews the research progress of microfluidics in cardiovascular disease detection, analyzes its advantages and weaknesses in the rapid detection of protein, lipid, and nucleic acid biomarkers, hopes to provide a reference to promote the quick detection technology of cardiovascular disease, and thus proposes new considerations for the early management of cardiovascular disease.

Introduction: Green tea is related to the reduction of liver enzymes, lipoprotein, and body mass index. However, some reports related green tea to the risk of developing liver cancer, but their outcomes were conflicting. Hence, the present study aimed to determine the relationship between green tea intake and lipoprotein, liver enzymes, body mass index, and liver cancer.

6-Phosphofructo-2-kinase/fructose-2,6-biphosphatase 4 (PFKFB4) was reported to be necessary for tumour growth in several cancers. However, the function of PFKFB4 in cervical cancer has not been clearly elucidated. Bioinformatics analysis was applied to detect the expression of PFKFB4 in cervical cancer and the association with survival prognosis.

Orthopedic device related infections (ODRI's) represent a difficult to treat situation owing to their biofilm based nature. Biofilm infections once established are difficult to eradicate even with an aggressive treatment regimen due to their recalcitrance towards antibiotics and immune attack. The involvement of antibiotic resistant pathogens as the etiological agent further worsens the overall clinical picture, pressing on the need to look into alternative treatment strategies.
