The family Trachipteridaethe Ribbonfishes, Dealfishes, and their relativeshas a circumglobal distribution, with at least 10 species in three genera (Zu Walters Fitch 1960, Desmodema Walters Fitch 1960, and Trachipterus Goan 1770) that are characterized by elongate, extremely laterally compressed bodies, large eyes, absence of ribs, spines on lateral-line scales, greatly protrusible mouths, and a lack of pelvic fins in adults. They are also known for the drastic morphological changes that occur during ontogeny. Trachipterids are poorly represented in collections due to the fragile nature of their bodies.

Electronic address:

Flow-through electrodes generally outcompete traditional parallel-plate electrodes in current efficiency and mass transfer. High-performance electrode materials can be costly and complicated to fabricate, hindering their wide application. In this study, we used commercial graphite felt (GF) as the cathode of a flow-through electrochemical cell to investigate its potential in treating Cr(VI) solution through electroreduction.

Two polymorphs of tetrathiafulvalene chloranilic acid (TTF-CAH) have been synthesized by mechanochemistry. The previously known "ionic" polymorph (form I) was prepared by liquid-assisted grinding (LAG) using various highly polar solvents as well as protic but moderately polar solvents, such as alcohols of one to four carbon atoms. A new TTF-CAH polymorph (form II) was obtained by LAG and slurry mechanochemistry using aprotic, low-polarity solvents, as well as nonpolar solvents and neat grinding.

The ability to savor positive life events is associated with higher emotional well-being; however, few studies have examined savoring ability in older adults. The present study used a longitudinal design to examine changes in perceived savoring abilities and associations with perceived health in older adulthood. Older adults (=131) reported on beliefs about savoring and perceived health at baseline and 2½ years later.

Objective: This study investigated how parents' perceptions of, feelings toward, and anticipated responses to children's emotions relate to parents' meta-emotion philosophy (MEP) and attachment.

Design: Parents (112 mothers and 95 fathers) completed an online research study where they viewed photographs of unfamiliar girls and boys (aged 10 to 14 years) displaying varying intensities of happiness, sadness, fear, anger, and neutral expressions. Parents labeled the emotion, identified the emotion's intensity, and reported their mirrored emotion and responses.

Anodic concentration loss and impedance characteristics in rotating disk electrode microbial fuel cells.

Bioprocess Biosyst Eng

October 2016

State Environmental Protection Key Laboratory of Environmental Risk Assessment and Control on Chemical Process, School of Resources and Environmental Engineering, East China University of Science and Technology, 130 Meilong Road, Shanghai, China.

A rotating disk electrode (RDE) was used to investigate the concentration loss and impedance characteristics of anodic biofilms in microbial fuel cells (MFCs). Amperometric time-current analysis revealed that at the rotation rate of 480 rpm, a maximum current density of 168 µA cm(-2) can be achieved, which was 22.2 % higher than when there was no rotation.

Premise Of The Study: Whenever more pollen grains arrive on stigmas than necessary to fertilize ovules, sexual selection is possible. However, the role of sexual selection remains controversial, in part because of lack of evidence on genetic bases of traits and the response of relevant characters to selection.

Methods: In an experiment with Raphanus sativus, we selected on tendency to sire seeds in the stylar or basal regions of fruits.
