Purpose: Cancer patients who remain tobacco users have poorer outcomes, including increased mortality and decreased treatment tolerance; however, cessation post-diagnosis is challenging. Our formative research explored cessation-related perspectives among patients and staff at one National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center, to inform improving cessation services within oncology care.

Methods: Using a descriptive phenomenological approach, a purposive sample of current cancer patients (n = 13) and cancer center physicians and cessation program staff (n = 9) were recruited to complete one-on-one audio-recorded in-depth qualitative interviews, to explore experiences providing or receiving cessation support, and perspectives on patients' readiness and needs regarding cessation.

The health communication strategy known as entertainment-education can be traced in large part to Miguel Sabido and the methodology he developed using telenovelas in Latin America in the 1960s and 1970s. Entertainment-education has evolved from a long-running narrative approach using traditional media to the addition of new media and transmedia formats. In recent years, entertainment-education programs using social media have increased, yet few studies have explored the shared characteristics and experiences of social media users who engage with these programs.

African Americans with type 2 diabetes (T2D) have higher average A1c levels than White patients. However, few studies have examined racial disparities in diabetes management in primary care, particularly provider-level variability. Background: Cost-effectiveness analyses tend not to take into account the availability of lower-priced generics following loss of exclusivity (LOE) of branded products. By not considering these generics, which are typically adopted quickly, total costs are likely to be overestimated and may be unreflective of real-world payer conditions in the United States.

Objective: To assess the impact of including future price reductions following LOE on the cost-effectiveness of fingolimod versus intramuscularly administered interferon beta-1a (IM IFNβ-1a) as treatments for multiple sclerosis.
