Metabolic reprogramming plays a crucial role in the development of colorectal cancer (CRC), influencing tumor heterogeneity, the tumor microenvironment, and metastasis. While the interaction between metabolism and CRC is critical for developing personalized treatments, gaps remain in understanding how tumor cell metabolism affects prognosis. Our study introduces novel insights by integrating single-cell and bulk transcriptome analyses to explore the metabolic landscape within CRC cells and its mechanisms influencing disease progression.

Background: The prognostic significance of lymph node metastasis (LNM) in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) remains controversial. Notably, there is evidence suggesting an association between tissue stiffness and the aggressiveness of the disease. We therefore aimed to explore the effect of tissue stiffness on LNM-related invasiveness in PTC patients.

BACKGROUND Osteoarthritis (OA) is a chronic degenerative disease characterized by synovitis and has been implicated in sphingolipid metabolism disorder. However, the role of sphingolipid metabolism pathway (SMP)-related genes in the occurrence of OA and synovial immune dysregulation remains unclear. MATERIAL AND METHODS In this study, we obtained synovium-related databases from GEO (n=40 for both healthy controls and OA) and analyzed the expression levels of SMP-related genes.

Sex and apolipoprotein E (APOE) genotype have been shown to influence the risk and progression of Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, the impact of these factors on the functional connectivity of the entorhinal cortex (ERC) in clinically unpaired older adults (CUOA) with amyloid-β (Aβ +) pathology remains unclear. A total of 1022 cognitively normal older adults with Aβ + (603 females and 586 APOE ε4 +) from the Anti-Amyloid Treatment in Asymptomatic Alzheimer's (A4) study were included in this study.

Anhui Women and Children's Medical Center, Hefei Maternal and Child Health Hospital, Hefei, China. Electronic address:

Ovarian cancer (OC) is a common gynecological tumor with high mortality, which is difficult to control its progression with conventional treatments and is prone to recurrence. Recent studies have identified OC as an immunogenic tumor that can be recognized by the host immune system. Immunotherapy for OC is being evaluated, but approaches such as immune checkpoint inhibitors have limited efficacy, adoptive cell therapy is an alternative therapy, in which CAR(chimeric antigen receptor)-T therapy has been applied to the clinical treatment of hematological malignancies.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a prevalent joint disease that can be exacerbated by lipid metabolism disorders. The intra-articular fat pad (IFP) has emerged as an active participant in the pathological changes of knee OA (KOA). However, the proteomic and lipidomic differences between IFP tissues from KOA and control individuals remain unclear.

Institutes of Physical Science and Information Technology, Anhui University, Hefei, 230601 Anhui People's Republic of China.

Unlabelled: Heptadecanoic acid (C17:0), an odd-chain saturated fatty acid (OCSFA) in ruminant lipid, has been demonstrated to be potential for treating cancers. Our results also showed that sheep tail fat (STF) with higher level of C17:0-containing saturated fatty acids (SFAs) whereas lower level of oleic acid (C18:1), performed remarkable inhibition against non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells. To enrich the content of C17:0, a C17:0-rich SFA concentrate (HRSC) was prepared from STF by solvent crystallization and urea complexation methods (hexane/STF = 3.

Article Synopsis
  • Abnormal lipid metabolism is linked to immune dysfunction in Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD), triggering ocular inflammation, but the exact molecular mechanisms remain unclear.
  • The study aims to identify the role of lipid metabolism and ferroptosis-related genes in AMD, highlighting key genes like SCD that inhibit ferroptosis and their interaction with macrophage behavior during inflammation.
  • The research also uncovers possible connections between lipid metabolism in AMD and conditions like cancer and COVID-19, suggesting potential co-therapeutic targets to improve clinical outcomes.

Previous research results of our group showed that Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) and nucleolin synergistically mediate respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection in human central neuron cells, but the specific mechanism remains unclear. Here we designed and synthesized lentiviruses with TIR (674-815 aa), TLR4 (del 674-815 aa), GAR (645-707 aa), and NCL (del 645-707 aa) domains, and obtained stable overexpression cell lines by drug screening, and subsequently infected RSV at different time points. Laser confocal microscopy and coimmunoprecipitation were used for the observation of co-localization and interaction of TIR/GAR domains.
