Transcatheter closure of mitral prosthetic paravalvular leak (PVL) has been hampered by technical challenges and the lack of closure devices specifically designed for this purpose. The oblong cross-sectional shape of the Amplatzer Vascular Plug III device (AVP) may be a more appropriate choice to be deployed for mitral PVL's. Real-time three-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography (RT-3D TEE) has emerged as an efficient tool that provides essential information concerning leakage size, location, and shape as well as navigation of catheters and wires.

Purpose: This prospective study aimed to evaluate the use of three-dimensional sampling perfection with application-optimized contrasts using different flip-angle evolutions (3D-SPACE) in the diagnosis of spontaneous third ventriculostomy (STV) and to compare it with phase-contrast cine magnetic resonance imaging (PC-MRI).

Methods: PC-MRI and 3D-SPACE images were obtained in 15 patients with hydrocephalus for evaluation of STV as well as in 10 control cases. The presence of STV was evaluated visually by two experienced radiologists on both PC-MRI and 3D-SPACE images, and the results were statistically compared.

The aim of this study was to compare--clinically and ultrasonographically--the therapeutic effects of physical therapy modalities (hot pack, ultrasound therapy, and friction massage), local corticosteroid injection, and extracorporeal shock wave treatment (ESWT) in lateral epicondylitis (LE). Fifty-nine elbows of 59 patients with LE were randomized into three treatment groups receiving either physical therapy, a single corticosteroid injection, or ESWT. Visual analogue scale (VAS) was used to assess pain intensity, Jamar hydraulic dynamometer for grip strength, finger dynamometer for pinch strength (before treatment, on the first, third, and sixth months of treatment).

The number of studies forming a base for tumor (T)-node (N)-metastasis (M) classification by comparing T4b tumors with only histological skin involvement in breast carcinoma is limited and results are contradictory. In this study, the survival of patients with T4b tumor and patients whose tumor had only microscopic skin involvement without clinical T4b signs were compared. The file records of 101 patients with T4b tumor (group A) and 79 patients whose tumor had only microscopic skin involvement (group B) were reviewed.
