Atherosclerosis (AS) is a chronic inflammatory arterial disease, in which abnormal lipid metabolism and foam cell formation play key roles. Histamine is a vital biogenic amine catalyzed by histidine decarboxylase (HDC) from L-histidine. Histamine H1 receptor (HR) antagonist is a commonly encountered anti-allergic agent in the clinic.

Purpose: Blood culture (BC) remains the gold standard for the diagnosis of bloodstream infections. Improving the quality of clinical BC samples, optimizing BC performance, and accelerating antimicrobial susceptibility test (AST) results are essential for the early detection of bloodstream infections and specific treatments.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective multicenter study using 450,845 BC specimens from clinical laboratories obtained from 19 teaching hospitals between 1 January 2021 and 31 December 2021.
Insulin resistance (IR) is associated with a variety of cardiovascular diseases, but there are few studies on the correlation between IR and calcified aortic stenosis (CAS). In this study, the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index, which reflects IR, was used to investigate the correlation between IR and CAS. The study included 183 elderly patients who were diagnosed with CAS by transthoracic echocardiography.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to discuss the safety of rapid administration of 4°C hypothermic normal saline into the occluded vessels using an intra-arterial catheter to induce mild hypothermia following endovascular thrombectomy in patients with acute large vessel occlusion cerebral infarction.
Methods: We selected 78 patients with acute large vessel occlusion cerebral infarction who underwent endovascular thrombectomy in the Department of Neurology of our hospital from January 2020 to July 2022 and achieved TICI 2b recanalization.
Result: Twenty-five patients were administered 500 mL of 4°C hypothermic normal saline in the occluded vessels at a rate of 25 mL/min to induce mild hypothermia.

Periodontal disease is a chronic inflammatory disease that is highly correlated with cardiovascular disease(CVD). Histamine has been proven to participate in the pathophysiological processes of cardiovascular disease and oral inflammation. However, the role of histamine in the development of cardiac microthrombosis caused by periodontal disease has not been fully elucidated.

Intimal thickening caused by the excessive multiplication of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) is the pathological process central to cardiovascular diseases, including restenosis. In response to vascular injury, VSMCs would undergo phenotypic switching from a fully differentiated, low proliferative rate phenotype to a more pro-proliferative, promigratory, and incompletely-differentiated state. The lack of a full understanding of the molecular pathways coupling the vascular injury stimuli to VSMCs phenotype switching largely limits the development of medical therapies for treating intima hyperplasia-related diseases.

Histamine is a versatile biogenic amine, generated by the unique enzyme histidine decarboxylase (Hdc). Accumulating evidence has proven that histamine plays important roles in numerous biological and pathophysiological processes. However, the role and mechanism of Hdc/Histamine signaling in periodontal diseases remain unclear.

Doxorubicin (DOX) is widely used in the treatment of various cancers, increasing the great risk of adverse cardiovascular events, while the clinical intervention effect is not ideal. Histamine has been documented to participate in pathophysiological processes of cardiovascular diseases and inflammation-associated carcinogenesis. However, the potential roles of histamine in antitumor-related cardiotoxicity have not been fully elucidated.

Objective: The current study was to design a cardiovascular risk score for the diagnosis of coronary heart disease (CHD) in the rural area of China and the sensitivity and specificity of this score would be assessed.
Methods: A total of 520 patients were enrolled and based on the results from coronary artery angiography, patients were divided into three groups: CHD group (coronary artery ≥50% stenosis), atherosclerosis group (coronary artery <50% stenosis) and normal groups (without stenosis). Between-group differences were evaluated and the sensitivity and specificity of cardiovascular risk score were evaluated.

The clinical significance of the specific anti-John Milton Hagen (JMH) alloantibody in inherited JMH-negative patients remains unclear. During clinical blood transfusion, it is often classified as an anti-JMH autoantibody in acquired JMH-negative patients, which might further lead to the occurrence of haemolysis events. In this study, we found that the proportion of inherited JMH-negative people in the Guangzhou population was 0.
