Recently, the need for antibacterial dressings has amplified because of the increase of traumatic injuries. However, there is still a lack of ideal, natural antibacterial dressings that show an efficient antibacterial property with no toxicity. Polyimide (PI) used as an implantable and flexible material has been recently reported as a mixture of particles showing more desirable antibacterial properties.

However, its cause and mechanism remain obscure. Here, it is shown that apolipoprotein E-deficient (ApoE) mouse with CKD (CKD/ApoE mouse) is a useful model for investigating the pathogenesis of plaque vulnerability, and premature senescence and phenotypic switching of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) contributes to CKD-associated plaque vulnerability.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients always have a background of cirrhosis. Aberrant epigenetic changes in cirrhosis provide a conductive environment for HCC tumorigenesis. Active enhancers (AEs) are essential for epigenetic regulation and play an important role in cell development and the progression of many diseases.

Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is a prevalent and malignant cancer. However, the molecular mechanism of OSCC progression is not fully understood. In this study, we observed that the DEP domain containing 1 (DEPDC1) protein was overexpressed in OSCC tissues and that the increased expression of DEPDC1 was closely associated with tumor size and poor clinical outcomes in OSCC patients.

Background: The D2 dopamine receptor (DRD2) has been extensively investigated and has been associated with the occurrence of neuropsychiatric disorders. Polymorphisms in the DRD2 gene have also been determined as a possible predisposing component for major depressive disorders (MDD). The present study focused on evaluating the connection of polymorphisms inside the whole DRD2 gene in MDD patients as well as in non-MDD participants in a group selected from the Chinese Han population.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small, short and noncoding RNAs that regulate gene expression posttranscriptionally. Increasing evidences have demonstrated that deregulated expression of miRNAs is found in osteosarcoma. In this study, we demonstrated that miR-665 was downregulated in osteosarcoma tissues compared to non-tumorous tissues.

Background: Oxygen therapy is important during the management of high-risk neonatal infants, such as those with preterm birth, low birth weight, and asphyxia. However, prolonged exposure to high oxygen concentrations can readily lead to diffuse nonspecific inflammation, which promotes airway remodeling and pulmonary fibrosis. The Rho/Rho-associated coiled-coil kinase (Rho/ROCK) signaling pathway plays an important role in numerous developmental and proliferative diseases.
