Background: The incidence of hyaluronic acid (HA) embolism has increased markedly in recent years. HA embolism can lead to serious complications such as blindness, eye and eyelid movement disorders, skin necrosis, and cerebral embolism. However, there is a lack of robust clinical evidence regarding the benefits of treatment of HA embolism with intra-arterial thrombolytic therapy (IATT).

BACKGROUND Lacrimal gland pleomorphic adenoma (LGPA) is the most common clinically benign epithelial tumor of the lacrimal gland and is predominantly comprised of epithelial cells and interstitial components. At present, the exact pathogenesis of LGPA remains unclear. Previous research has indicated that the occurrence of LGPA may be related to excessive cell proliferation.

microRNAs regulate numerous biological processes, making them potential therapeutic agents. Problems with delivery and stability of these molecules have limited their usefulness as treatments. We demonstrate that synthetic high-density lipoprotein nanoparticles (HDL NPs) topically applied to the intact ocular surface are taken up by epithelial and stromal cells.

Background: Synthetic biomaterials assist in modulating the vascular response in an injured bone by serving as delivery vehicles of pro-angiogenic molecules to the site of injury or by serving as mimetic platforms which offer support to cell growth and proliferation.
Methods: This study applied natural phospholipid modified protein technologies together with low temperature three-dimensional printing technology to develop a new model of three-dimensional artificial bone scaffold for potential use in repairing body injuries. The focus was to create a porous structure (PS) scaffold of two components, Bone Morphogenetic Protein-2 and Human Beta Defensin-3 (BMP2 and hBD3), which can synchronously realize directional bone induction, angiogenesis and postoperative antibacterial effects.

Background And Aim: Diallyl disulfide (DADS), a volatile sulfide extracted from garlic, has been suggested as a chemical of anti-atherosclerotic drugs, while its molecular mechanism for this benefit has not fully been understood. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of DADS on lipid metabolism and its potential mechanisms in HepG2 cells induced by lipopolysaccharides (LPS).
Methods And Results: HepG2 cells were treated with LPS with or without different concentrations of DADS (0, 20, 40, 80, 160 μg/ml) for 24 h.

COVID-19 pandemic has infected millions of people with mortality exceeding >1 million. There is an urgent need to find therapeutic agents that can help clear the virus to prevent severe disease and death. Identifying effective and safer drugs can provide more options to treat COVID-19 infections either alone or in combination.

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has caused a global pandemic. Here we profiled the humoral response against Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) by measuring immunoglobulin (Ig) A, IgM, and IgG against nucleocapsid and spike proteins, along with IgM and IgG antibodies against receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the spike protein and total neutralizing antibodies (NAbs). We tested 279 plasma samples collected from 176 COVID-19 patients who presented and enrolled at different stages of their disease.

Attached biofilms are essential for environmental persistence and infectivity. The loci (, -K, and ) are required for mature biofilm formation and are responsible for the synthesis of exopolysaccharide. Transcription of genes is activated by the signaling molecule bis-(3'-5')-cyclic di-GMP (c-di-GMP), whose metabolism is controlled by the proteins containing the GGDEF and/or EAL domains.

Here we have generated two induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) lines, hASC-iPSC-1A and hASC-iPSC-2A, by reprogramming human adipose tissue derived stem cells of 28 and 23 years old healthy donors. Reprogramming was achieved using nonintegrative Sendai viral vector system containing the reprogramming factors Klf4, Oct3/4, Sox2, c-Myc. Though the karyotypes of these cells were normal (46, XX) and (46, XY), their pluripotency potentials were confirmed by the expression of factors of pluripotency markers in vitro and teratoma formation in vivo.

Amifostine is a cytoprotective agent against the hematopoietic damage induced by ionizing radiation, although the intravenous injection of amifostine is a unique administration method with strict dosing time limitation. Hence, the fields of application of amifostine are greatly limited.
