Purpose: To evaluate the effectiveness of remimazolam in preventing adverse reactions triggered by carboprost tromethamine during cesarean section procedures.

Methods: A total of 200 parturients scheduled for cesarean sections at risk of postpartum hemorrhage in our hospital from October 2022 to July 2023 were included. The participants were assigned via random number table method to either a study group or a control group, resulting in 100 cases in each.

Article Synopsis
  • Subjective cognitive decline (SCD) is identified as a transitional stage before neurocognitive disorders and its prevalence and risk factors were investigated among elderly individuals in Baotou, China, during a study from June 2021 to June 2023.
  • The study, involving 1,120 elderly participants, found a high prevalence rate of 43.8% for SCD, with factors such as marital status, BMI, sleep duration, and chronic health issues significantly associated with it.
  • Additionally, the analysis indicated notable differences in SCD risk factors between genders, underscoring the importance of early detection and prevention strategies for cognitive impairments in aging populations.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to evaluate how effective time-intensity curve (TIC) analysis and subjective visual assessment of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) are when combined with the Ovarian-Adnexal Reporting and Data System (O-RADS) for diagnosing adnexal lesions with solid components.
  • Conducted at multiple centers from September 2021 to December 2022, the study analyzed 180 lesions from 175 women, comparing diagnostic performances using receiver operating characteristic curves.
  • Results showed that integrating CEUS with O-RADS significantly improved diagnostic accuracy (AUC 0.86) compared to O-RADS alone (AUC 0.78), and both CEUS assessment methods (TIC and subjective assessment

Objectives: To evaluate the additional advantages of integrating contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) into the Ovarian-Adnexal Reporting and Data System (O-RADS) ultrasound (US) for the characterization of adnexal lesions with solid components.

Materials And Methods: This prospective multicenter study recruited women suspected of having adnexal lesions with solid components between September 2021 and December 2022. All patients scheduled for surgery underwent preoperative CEUS and US examinations.

Association of cigarette smoking with cerebrospinal fluid biomarkers of insulin sensitivity and neurodegeneration.

Brain Behav

February 2024

Zhejiang Provincial Clinical Research Center for Mental Disorders, The Affiliated Wenzhou Kangning Hospital, Wenzhou Medical University, Wenzhou, China.

Introduction: Cigarette smoking increases both the risk for insulin resistance and amyloid-β (Aβ) aggregation, and impaired brain insulin/insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF1) signaling might increase risk factors for Alzheimer's disease (AD). We aimed to investigate the association among cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) insulin sensitivity/IGF1, glucose/lactate, and Aβ42 and further explore whether insulin sensitivity contributed to the risk for AD in active smokers.

Methods: In this cross-sectional study, levels of insulin, IGF1, and lactate/glucose of 75 active smokers and 78 nonsmokers in CSF were measured.

Background: Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) is the most common cause of indicated preterm delivery, but the impact of prenatal steroid exposure on the outcomes of preterm infants born to HDP mothers, who may be at risk for intrauterine hypoxia-ischemia, remains uncertain. The study objective is to evaluate the mortality and morbidities in HDP for very preterm infants (VPIs) exposed to different course of ANS.

Methods: This is a prospective cohort study comprising infants with < 32 weeks gestation born to women with HDP only from 1 Jan.

To investigate the association between congenital hypothyroidism (CH) and the adverse outcomes during hospitalization in very low birth weight infants (VLBWI). This prospective, multicenter observational cohort study was conducted based on the data from the Sino-northern Neonatal Network (SNN). Data of 5 818 VLBWI with birth weight <1 500 g and gestational age between 24-<37 weeks that were admitted to the 37 neonatal intensive care units from January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2022 were collected and analyzed.

Objective: Postoperative recurrence of percutaneous endoscopic lumbar disc increases the physical damage and financial burden on patients and negatively affects physicians' treatment decisions. We conducted this meta-analysis to explore the risk factors for postoperative recurrence of percutaneous endoscopic lumbar disc for lumbar disc herniation.

Methods: We conducted article search in the PubMed, EMBASE and Cochrane Library databases.

Objectives: We aimed to evaluate the risk factors for moderate-to-severe bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) and focus on discussing its relationship with the duration of initial invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV) in very preterm neonates less than 32 weeks of gestational age (GA).

Methods: We performed a prospective cohort study involving infants born at 23-31 weeks of GA who were admitted to 47 different neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) hospitals in China from January 2018 to December 2021. Patient data were obtained from the Sina-northern Neonatal Network (SNN) Database.

Objectives: To investigate the risk factors for necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) in very preterm infants and establish a nomogram model for predicting the risk of NEC.

Methods: A total of 752 very preterm infants who were hospitalized from January 2015 to December 2021 were enrolled as subjects, among whom 654 were born in 2015-2020 (development set) and 98 were born in 2021 (validation set). According to the presence or absence of NEC, the development set was divided into two groups: NEC (=77) and non-NEC (=577).

Cancer stem cell property and gene signature in bone-metastatic Breast Cancer cells.

Int J Biol Sci

November 2021

Research Center for Translational Medicine, Shanghai East Hospital, School of Life Sciences and Technology, Tongji University, Shanghai 200120, China.

The majority of the deaths from breast cancer is due to metastasis. Bone is the most common organ to which breast cancer cells metastasize. The mechanism regulating the bone-metastatic preference remains unclear; there is a lack of a gene signature to distinguish bone-metastatic breast cancer cells.

Targeted Inhibition of miR-221/222 Promotes Cell Sensitivity to Cisplatin in Triple-Negative Breast Cancer MDA-MB-231 Cells.

Front Genet

January 2020

Research Center for Translational Medicine, Department of Medical Oncology, Shanghai East Hospital, Tongji University School of Medicine, Shanghai, China.

Cisplatin has been widely used in the treatment of a various types of cancers including triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) by damaging DNA and inducing apoptosis. However, its anti-cancer effects are often limited due to chemo-resistance, which is one of the main reasons causing cancer relapse and metastasis. To overcome resistance, cisplatin is often used in combination with other drugs or molecules.
