Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) regulate cancer progression and drug resistance. However, the role of lncRNA FGD5-AS1 in regulating colon cancer (CC) progression is still largely unknown. Hence, this study investigated the role of lncRNA FGD5-AS1 in regulating colon cancer (CC) progression and found that lncRNA FGD5-AS1 regulated miR-497-5p/PD-L1 axis to promote cancer progression in CC cells and .

Department of Mammary Surgery I, The Third Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University (Yunnan Cancer Hospital, Yunnan Cancer Center), Kunming 650118, China.

Growing cutting-edge study has demonstrated the RNA m6A methylation's critical role in regulating tumorigenesis and progression all over the world, while it is still a mystery whether RNA m6A methylation has a positive impact on breast cancer treatment. In this article, we utilize bioinformatics to analyze three data sets including TCGA-BRCA, GSE96058, and GSE25066 and discover that breast cancer samples could be divided into 4 subtypes, which are quiescent, m6A methylation, protein-binding, and mixed, clarified by the expression level of m6A-related genes. R-survival analysis results also prove that the survival rate of breast cancer samples of the four subtypes significantly varies and remarkable differences in the number of exons' skip among the four subtypes can be seen according to the analysis of breast cancer gene expression characteristics.

Department of Thoracic Surgery, National Cancer Center/National Clinical Research Center for Cancer/Cancer Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College, Beijing, China.

Pulmonary sarcomatoid carcinoma (PSC) is a unique form of poorly differentiated nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and is notorious for its highly malignant nature and dismal prognosis. To introduce effective treatment for PSC patients, precise subtyping of PSC is demanding. In our study, TTF-1 and P40 immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining were applied to 56 PSC patients with multiomics data.

How the brain perceives objects and classifies perceived objects is one of the important goals of visual cognitive neuroscience. Previous research has shown that when we see objects, the brain's ventral visual pathway recognizes and classifies them, leading to different ways of interacting with them. In this paper, we summarize the latest research progress of the ventral visual pathway related to the visual classification of objects.

March 2021

Department of Thoracic Surgery I, The Third Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University (Yunnan Cancer Hospital, Yunnan Cancer Center), The International Cooperation Key Laboratory of Regional Tumor in High Altitude Area, Kunming, China.

Background: Breast cancer (BC), a very heterogeneous systemic disease, is the most frequently seen malignancy in women, especially in some developed countries or regions. Estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR), human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) and Ki67 have been extensively used to predict the clinical outcome, but it is still a hotspot to search for more predictive prognostic markers. Ankyrin repeat and death domain containing 1A (ANKDD1A), which contains nine ankyrin repeats, has been discovered to play a role of tumor suppressor in glioblastoma multiforme (GBM).

Department of Thoracic Surgery, The First Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University, Kunming, 650032, People's Republic of China.

Article Synopsis
  • Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is a serious type of lung cancer with high rates of illness and death, highlighting the need for effective prognostic biomarkers like CBX7.
  • Research using various databases revealed that CBX7 is significantly downregulated in LUAD patients, correlating with worse clinical outcomes and lower survival rates.
  • Additionally, CBX7's relationship with immune cells and its involvement in tumor-related processes suggests it could be a valuable biomarker and therapeutic target for LUAD treatment.

Role of Epstein-Barr Virus and Human Papillomavirus Coinfection in Cervical Intraepithelial Neoplasia in Chinese Women Living With HIV.

Front Cell Infect Microbiol

October 2021

Department of Cancer Epidemiology, National Cancer Center/National Clinical Research Center for Cancer/Cancer Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College, Beijing, China.

Given that only a small percentage of human papillomavirus (HPV)-positive women develop cancer, HPV is necessary but insufficient for carcinogenesis. Mucosally transmitted viral cofactors appear to contribute to HPV-related cervical cancer, such as Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), but previous studies have shown inconsistent outcomes. The exact role of EBV in cervical cancer remains unclear, and more studies are needed to determine its involvement.

Institute for Risk Assessment Sciences, Utrecht University, the Netherlands; Julius Center for Health Sciences and Primary Care, University Medical Center Utrecht, Utrecht, the Netherlands.

The domestic combustion of smoky (bituminous) coal in the Chinese counties of Xuanwei and Fuyuan, are responsible for some of the highest rates of lung cancer in the world. Cancer rates vary between coal producing regions (deposits) in the area, with coals from Laibin exhibiting particularly high risks and smokeless (anthracite) coal exhibiting lower risks. However, little information is available on the specific burning characteristics of coals from throughout the area.
