Background: Previous studies have reported that positive buttress is as effective as anatomical reduction in treating young femoral neck fractures, but whether this effect is related to the Pauwels classification remains unclear. The purpose of this study was to retrospectively analyze the clinical prognosis of positive buttress in young femoral neck fractures with different Pauwels classifications, as well as to assess its biomechanical properties.
Methods: A total of 170 young patients with femoral neck fractures who were treated with three cannulated screws were included in this study.

Objective: To construct a new prediction nomogram to predict the risk of musculoskeletal pain in patients with primary osteoporosis who receive zoledronic acid intravenously for the first time.
Method: Clinical data of 368 patients with primary osteoporosis who received the first intravenous injection of zoledronic acid in our hospital from December 2019 to December 2022 were studied. Patients were divided into a musculoskeletal pain group (n = 258) and a non-musculoskeletal pain group (n = 110) based on the presence or absence of musculoskeletal pain 3 days after injection.

The regeneration of weight-bearing bone defects and critical-sized cartilage defects remains a significant challenge. A wide range of nano-biomaterials are available for the treatment of bone/cartilage defects. However, their poor compatibility and biodegradability pose challenges to the practical applications of these nano-based biomaterials.

However, it is difficult to expose the subscapular muscle and operate it under a microscope. In this study, the SwiveLock C external row anchor under arthroscopy was applied to repair the tear of the subscapular muscle in a single row, which is relatively easy to operate with reliable suture and fixation, and its efficacy was evaluated.

Osteoporotic fractures, also known as fragility fractures, are prevalent in the elderly and bring tremendous social burdens. Poor bone quality, weak repair capacity, instability, and high failure rate of internal fixation are main characteristics of osteoporotic fractures. Osteoporotic bone defects are common and need to be repaired by appropriate materials.

Intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD) is a main cause of low back pain, and inflammatory factors play key roles in its pathogenesis. Gremlin-1 (Grem1) was reported to induce an inflammatory response in other fields. This study aimed to investigate the mechanisms of Grem1 in the degenerative process of intervertebral discs.

Objective: A number of miRNAs and their targets were dragged in the differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs). We aimed to elaborate the underlying molecular mechanisms of miRNA-320a in the osteoblast and adipocyte differentiation.
Methods: Trauma-induced osteonecrosis of the femoral head (TIONFH) and normal control samples (n = 10 for each group) were collected, followed by miRNA chip analysis to identify the differentially expressed miRNAs.

Objective: To explore the coronal alignment of tibial prosthesis after osteotomy using personalized extramedullary positioning technique on tibia side in total knee arthroplasty (TKA).
Methods: A clinical data of 170 patients (210 knees) who underwent primary TKA between January 2020 and June 2021 and met the selection criteria was retrospectively analyzed. Personalized and traditional extramedullary positioning techniques were used in 93 cases (114 knees, personalized positioning group) and 77 cases (96 knees, traditional positioning group), respectively.

Fracture healing is a complex event with the involvement of many cell systems, cytokines, as well as mRNAs. Herein, we report the interactions among long noncoding RNA X-inactive specific transcript (XIST)/microRNA-135 (miR-135)/cAMP response element-binding protein 1 (CREB1) axis during fracture healing. We observed increased expression of XIST in patients with long-term unhealed fracture by microarray analysis.

Background: Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) can be easily expanded without losing the ability of multilineage differentiation, including oesteogenic, chondrogenic and adipogenic differentiation. These characters make MSCs a promising cell resource for cartilage defect repair. MSCs could be recruited by inflammatory stimulation, then home to the injury tissues.

MSC transplantation has been explored as a new clinical approach to stem cell-based therapies for bone diseases in regenerative medicine due to their osteogenic capability. However, only a small population of implanted MSC could successfully reach the injured areas. Therefore, enhancing MSC migration could be a beneficial strategy to improve the therapeutic potential of cell transplantation.

Identification of natural compounds that inhibit osteoclastogenesis will facilitate the development of antiresorptive treatment of osteolytic bone diseases. Asiaticoside is a triterpenoid derivative isolated from Centella asiatica, which exhibits varying biological effects like angiogenesis, anti-inflammation, wound healing, and osteogenic differentiation. However, its role in osteoclastogenesis remains unknown.

Background: Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) possess intrinsic regeneration capacity as part of the repair process in response to injury, such as fracture or other tissue injury. Bone marrow and adipose tissue are the major sources of MSCs. However, which cell type is more effective and suitable for cell therapy remains to be answered.

The female healer is a special community in traditional Chinese medical professionals. Since the Song-Yuan Dynasties, although the literati class holding the social voices and the male healers acting as medical orthodoxy were always suspicious of the female healers' behaviors and their medical morality, and tarnished their images through all kinds of media. Meanwhile, the female healers were still badly needed on the account of recognition of distinction between sexes between both sexes due to the rising of neo-Confucianism.

Bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) have the potential to be used for the treatment of delayed union, nonunion or persistent bone defects in MSC-based cell therapy. However, implantation of BMSCs into the fracture site is confronted with apoptosis on account of harsh conditions and oxidative stress. In the present study, the anti-apoptotic effects of berberine (BBR) on BMSCs subjected to hydrogen peroxide (HO) are investigated, and the potential underlying mechanisms are explored.

The use of a postoperative autotransfusion drain (PATD) to reduce allogenic blood transfusions in total hip arthroplasty (THA) remains controversial. Therefore, we conducted a meta-analysis to evaluate the efficacy and safety of this technique. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were identified from PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL).
