Pancreatic arteriovenous malformation (pAVM) is a very rare entity, as less than 100 cases are reported in the international literature. Patients with pAVM may be asymptomatic or may present a wide range of symptoms, such as vague pain, feeling of fullness, gastrointestinal bleeding, or even portal hypertension. We present the multimodality approach in the diagnosis of a patient with pAVM and treatment via transcatheter arterial embolization of the lesion using steel coils.

Non‑small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the most common type of lung cancer and a tumor with a broad spectrum of targeted therapies already available or in clinical trials. Thus, molecular characterization of the tumor using next generation sequencing (NGS) technology, has become a key tool for facilitating treatment decisions and the clinical management of NSCLC patients. The performance of a custom 23 gene multiplex amplification hot spot panel, based on Ion AmpliSeq™ technology, was evaluated for the analysis of tumor DNA extracted from formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissues.

Aim: This study attends to determine the prevalence and the antimicrobial susceptibility of Ureaplasma urealyticum in asymptomatic women in Northern Greece.

Materials-methods: A total of 347 cervical smears were divided into 5 groups according to age. Samples were cultured, Ureaplasma urealyticum isolation was confirmed by the detection of the urease gene and the antimicrobial susceptibility of the isolates to 9 commercially available antibiotics was determined.

Unlabelled: T-cell zeta-chain downregulation is common in various types of cancer and it is proposed as a mechanism of cancer immunosubversion. L-arginine consumption by arginase rich suppressor myeloid cells has been incriminated. The effect of L-arginine supplementation on chemically induced carcinogenesis and tumor growth in mice was evaluated.

During selection in the thymus or any subsequent response, T-cells recognize peptides bound to major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules. Peptides produced by lysosomes or by proteasome/immunoproteasome stimulate CD4+ or CD8+ T-cell, respectively. Inflammation alters components of both antigen-processing pathways resulting in the production of different peptides.

Medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) as a neuroendocrine tumour arising from C cells of the thyroid gland secrets hormonal peptides; among them, calcitonine (CT) and carcino-embryonic antigen (CEA). These two peptides are used for the diagnosis and treatment response of MTC cases. In patients with advanced MTC, scintigraphy by [(111)In-DTPA-d-phe1]-octreotide is able to detect somatostatin receptors (SSTR) and thus identify regional lymph nodes and/or distal metastases.

The long-term treatment of metastatic medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) with somatostatin (SST) analogs was evaluated in 22 patients with persistant or relapsed disease and with in vivo positive SST receptor (SSTR) tumors. After surgical intervention all patients but one, initially or at a later time, had persistenly (15) or after relapse (7) elevated serum calcitonin (CT, 252-69482 pg/ml) and carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA, 8-1130 ng/ml) concentrations; also, all of them showed positive uptake in 111In-pentetreotide scanning. Daily doses of 0.
