Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is associated with a range of abnormalities pertaining to socialization, communication, repetitive behaviors, and restricted interests. Owing to its complexity, the etiology of ASD remains incompletely understood. The presynaptic G protein-coupled glutamate receptor metabotropic glutamate receptor 7 (mGluR7) is known to be essential for synaptic transmission and is also tightly linked with ASD incidence.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) caused the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and has become the world's most pressing public health threat. Although not as common as respiratory symptoms, a substantial proportion of patients with COVID-19 presented the gastrointestinal symptoms. ACE2, as the receptor of SARS-CoV and SARS-CoV-2, is highly expressed in the epithelia of the epithelium cells in lung and intestine.

Background: Antiretroviral therapy (ART) regimens containing integrase strand transfer inhibitors (INSTIs) have become the recommended treatment for human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1)-infected patients in the updated guidelines in China. In this study, we investigated the prevalence of acquired and transmitted INSTI-associated resistance of HIV-1 strains in the Henan Province (China) to provide guidance on the implementation of routine INSTI-associated HIV-1 genotypic resistance testing.
Methods: Serum samples from HIV-1-infected patients seeking treatment in our hospital from August 2018 to December 2020 were collected and the HIV-1 integrase gene coding sequence was amplified, sequenced and analyzed for INSTI resistance.

Background: World Health Organization recommends countries introducing new drug and short treatment regimen for drug resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB) should develop and implement a system for active pharmacovigilance that allows for detection, reporting and management of adverse events. The aim of the study is to evaluate the frequency and severity of adverse events (AEs) of bedaquiline-containing regimen in a cohort of Chinese patients with multidrug-resistant (MDR)/extensively drug-resistant (XDR)-TB based on active drug safety monitoring (aDSM) system of New Drug Introduction and Protection Program (NDIP).
Methods: AEs were prospectively collected with demographic, bacteriological, radiological and clinical data from 54 sites throughout China at patient enrollment and during treatment between February, 2018 and December, 2019.

Background: Few safety and effectiveness results have been published regarding the administration of tenofovir alafenamide fumarate (TAF) during pregnancy for the prevention of mother-to-child transmission (MTCT) of hepatitis B virus (HBV).
Methods: In this multicenter prospective observational study, pregnant women with HBV DNA levels higher than 200 000 IU/mL who received TAF or tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) from gestational weeks 24-35 to delivery were 1:1 enrolled and followed until postpartum month 6. Infants received immunoprophylaxis.

Coxsackievirus A16 (CVA16) is one of the major etiological agents of hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD), a common acute infectious disease affecting infants and young children. Severe symptoms of the central nervous system may develop and even lead to death. Here, a plaque-purified CVA16 strain, L731-P1 (P1), was serially passaged in Vero cells for six times and passage 6 (P6) stock became highly attenuated in newborn mice.

However, sporadic cases and/or mumps outbreaks have been reported in children and adolescents younger than 15 years of age, particularly among those aged 5-9 years. To explore the characteristics of such outbreaks in the Henan Province, clinical data of patients infected with mumps virus (MuV) were collected, and the isolated strains were phylogenetically analyzed.

Background: Dynamically changed levels of serum cytokines might predict the development of active TB from latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) and monitor preventive treatment effectiveness. The aim of the study was to identify potential serum cytokines associated with LTBI treatment which might predict active disease development in a Chinese population.
Methods: Based on a randomized controlled trial aiming to explore short-course regimens for LTBI treatment, the dynamic changes of serum cytokines determined by bead-based multiplex assays were investigated for the participants who developed active TB during follow-up and age and gender matched controls stayed healthy.
