Background: The oral microbiota is a diverse and complex community that maintains a delicate balance. When this balance is disturbed, it can lead to acute and chronic infectious diseases such as dental caries and periodontitis, significantly affecting people's quality of life. Developing a new antimicrobial strategy to deal with the increasing microbial variability and resistance is important.

Corynoline (COR) is an isoquinoline alkaloid derived from the traditional Chinese medicine Corydalis bungeana Turcz, known for its analgesic, antibacterial, neuroprotective, and osteoporosis-alleviating properties. However, its potential molecular effects against osteosarcoma (OS) remain unclear, warranting further investigation. This study demonstrated that COR inhibits OS cell proliferation and promotes apoptosis in a dose-dependent manner.

Background: The Cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic (CKM) syndrome, a concept recently proposed by the American Heart Association (AHA), highlights the intricate connection between metabolic, renal, and cardiovascular illnesses. Furthermore, the Atherogenic Index of Plasma (AIP), a useful biomarker for evaluating the risk of Cardiovascular Diseases (CVDs), has been associated with the risk of Adverse Cardiovascular Events (ACEs). Nonetheless, its precise function in populations in CKM syndrome Stages 0-3 remains unknown.

Retinal vein occlusion (RVO) is the leading cause of vision loss due to an obstruction in the retinal venous system. While RVO is often linked to thrombotic tendencies and coagulation abnormalities, the exact role of coagulation traits in its development is not fully understood. This study aims to investigate the potential causal relationship between coagulation traits and the risk of RVO by analyzing publicly available genome-wide association study (GWAS) summary statistics.

Background: This study aimed to investigate the safety and reliability of using bioabsorbable screws for the fixation of chevron osteotomy in the treatment of hallux valgus (HV) deformity.
Methods: Clinical cases of chevron osteotomy in the treatment of HV deformities in our hospital between December 2018 and August 2022 were retrospectively summarised to compare preoperative imaging indices with those at the final follow-up session, including the hallux valgus angle (HVA), intermetatarsal angle (IMA) and tibial sesamoid position (TSP). The American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) hallux metatarsophalangeal-interphalangeal scale, short-form health survey questionnaire (SF-36) and European Foot and Ankle Society (EFAS) scale were used to assess therapeutic efficacy.

Neuropilin 1 (NRP1) is upregulated in various types of malignant tumors, especially non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, the precise mechanisms for membrane localization and regulation are not fully understood. Observations from super-resolution microscopy have revealed that NRP1 tends to form nanoscale clusters on the cell membrane, with these clusters varying significantly in size and density across different regions.

The bladder is a dynamic organ located in the lower urinary tract, responsible for complex and important physiological activities in the human body, including collecting and storing urine. Severe diseases or bladder injuries often lead to tissue destruction and loss of normal function, requiring surgical intervention and reconstruction. The rapid development of innovative biomaterials has brought revolutionary opportunities for modern urology to overcome the limitations of tissue transplantation.

Background: Research suggests a potential connection between cardiovascular health, obesity, and overactive bladder (OAB). However, the mechanisms by which obesity influences the relationship between cardiovascular health and OAB remain unclear. Life's Crucial 9 (LC9) is a recently proposed method for assessing cardiovascular health, while the weight-adjusted waist index (WWI) is a novel and more accurate measure of obesity.

Atypical teratoid rhabdoid tumor (AT/RT) is a rare embryonal central nervous system tumor with a dismal prognosis that occurs mostly in early childhood. Since recent epidemiological and prognostic information is limited, we aimed to describe and analyze AT/RT-related incidences, temporal trends and prognostic factors. Incidence and survival data between 2001 and 2021 were extracted from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database.

Titanium alloys are widely used in the manufacture of orthopedic prosthesis given their excellent mechanical properties and biocompatibility. However, the primary drawbacks of traditional titanium alloy prosthesis are their much higher elastic modulus than cancellous bone and poor interfacial adhesion, which lead to poor osseointegration. 3D-printed porous titanium alloys can partly address these issues, but their bio-inertness still requires modifications to adapt to different physiological and pathological microenvironments.

As the most common and lethal cancer of the female gonads, ovarian cancer (OC) has a grave impact on people's health. OC is asymptomatic, insidious in onset, difficult to diagnose and treat, fast-growing, and easy to metastasize and has poor prognosis and high mortality. How to detect OC as early as possible and treat it without side effects has become a challenging medical problem.

With the ongoing development of osteoimmunology, increasing evidence indicates that the local immune microenvironment plays a critical role in various stages of bone formation. Consequently, modulating the immune inflammatory response triggered by biomaterials to foster a more favorable immune microenvironment for bone regeneration has emerged as a novel strategy in bone tissue engineering. This review first examines the roles of various immune cells in bone tissue injury and repair.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is among the most malignant tumors and seriously threatens human health worldwide, and its incidence rate is increasing annually. USP15 is a member of the ubiquitination-specific protease (USP) family, which can regulate protein ubiquitination, thereby affecting their stability, and is dysregulated in many cancers, but its expression and regulatory mechanism in HCC are unclear. The aims of this study were to explore the role and mechanism of USP15 in regulating HCC cell stemness, proliferation, and lenvatinib resistance.
