Background: Transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) is the mainstay of therapy for intermediate-stage hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC); yet its efficacy varies between patients with the same tumor stage. Accurate prediction of TACE response remains a major concern to avoid overtreatment. Thus, we aimed to develop and validate an artificial intelligence system for real-time automatic prediction of TACE response in HCC patients based on digital subtraction angiography (DSA) videos via a deep learning approach.

Collagen in the tumor microenvironment is recognized as a potential biomarker for predicting treatment response. This study investigated whether the collagen features are associated with pathological complete response (pCR) in locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC) patients receiving neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) and develop and validate a prediction model for individualized prediction of pCR. The prediction model was developed in a primary cohort (353 consecutive patients).

Melanoma is an aggressive malignant skin tumour with an increasing global incidence. However, current treatments have limitations owing to the acquired tumour drug resistance. Ferroptosis is a recently discovered form of programmed cell death characterised by iron accumulation and lipid peroxidation and plays a critical role in tumour growth inhibition.

Sustained anti-angiogenesis therapy increases the level of tumor hypoxia, leading to increased expression of HIF-1a, thereby contributing to the resistance to anti-angiogenesis therapy in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Here, we report that phenazine biosynthesis-like domain-containing protein (PBLD) inhibits hypoxia-induced angiogenesis via ERK/HIF-1a/VEGF axis in HCC cells. Bioinformatic analysis of the TCGA database and clinical samples validation also identify a negative correlation between PBLD and angiogenesis-related genes expression including HIF-1a.

As a gamma-aminobutyric acid type A receptor agonist sevoflurane is a common general anesthetic used in anesthesia and affects the neural development in offspring. We hypothesized that sevoflurane could regulate interneurons via the neuregulin-1-epidermal growth factor receptor-4 (NRG1-ErbB4) pathway in the entorhinal cortex (ECT) of the middle pregnancy. Six female rats in middle pregnancy (14.

Introduction: The safety outcomes of endovascular therapy for intracranial artery stenosis in a real-world stetting are largely unknown. The Clinical Registration Trial of Intracranial Stenting for Patients with Symptomatic Intracranial Artery Stenosis (CRTICAS) was a prospective, multicentre, real-world registry designed to assess these outcomes and the impact of centre experience.
Methods: 1140 severe, symptomatic intracranial arterial stenosis (ICAS) patients treated with endovascular therapy were included from 26 centres, further divided into three groups according to the annual centre volume of intracranial angioplasty and stent placement procedures over 2 years: (1) high volume for ≥25 cases/year; (2) moderate volume for 10-25 cases/year and (3) low volume for <10 cases/year.

Objective: The aim of the present study was to assess the effect of suspension fixation with button plates on the reconstruction of the distal radioulnar joint dislocation (DRUJ).
Methods: This was a case series of six patients (two men and four women) who underwent suspension fixation with button plates for DRUJ dislocation between January 2015 and May 2017. Physical examination, radiography, MRI, functional activity of the wrist joint, grip strength of the wrist joint, Garland-Werley wrist score, Mayo wrist score, and visual analog scale (VAS) score were used to evaluate the effect of this procedure.

Background And Aims: A variety of peripheral nerve block methods are used in the clinic to enhance the effect of postoperative analgesia. In recent years, an increasing number of surgeons have considered the efficacy and safety of suprascapular nerve block (SSNB) combined with axillary nerve block (ANB) for controlling perioperative pain in shoulder arthroscopy. The purpose of this study was to compare the efficacy and safety of SSNB + ANB and interscalene block (ISB) versus SSNB alone for shoulder arthroscopic surgery.

Hyperglycemia is considered a risk factor for the enhancement of local anesthetic-induced neurotoxicity. Transient receptor potential melastatin 7 (TRPM7), a kinase-coupled cation channel, has been implicated in a variety of neuropathological processes, including intracellular calcium disturbance and high glucose-induced neuropathy. In this study, we investigated whether TRPM7-related pathophysiology is involved in bupivacaine-induced neurotoxicity in SH-SY5Y cells and how hyperglycemia acts as a risk factor.

Background: Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of mortality and morbidity worldwide, Chronic stable angina (CSA) is the main symptom of myocardial ischemia, causes increased risk of major cardiovascular events such as sudden cardiac death and myocardial infarction. Naoxintong (NXT) capsule is a classical traditional Chinese medication used to treat CSA, however, few evidence to support the wide utility of NXT capsule for the treatment of CSA. We design this study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of NXT capsule versus placebo in patients with CSA.

Indole works as an interspecies signal molecule to regulate multiple physiological activities, like antibiotic resistance, acid resistance, and virulence. However, the effect of indole on conjugation is unknown. Here, with λπ as a donor strain that carries a chromosomally integrated conjugative RP4 plasmid, we explored the effect of indole on conjugation of a mobilizable pUCP24T plasmid imparting gentamycin resistance.

Accurate prediction of peritoneal metastasis for gastric cancer (GC) with serosal invasion is crucial in clinic. The presence of collagen in the tumour microenvironment affects the metastasis of cancer cells. Herein, we propose a collagen signature, which is composed of multiple collagen features in the tumour microenvironment of the serosa derived from multiphoton imaging, to describe the extent of collagen alterations.
