Background: Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play crucial roles in cellular processes, with dysregulation implicated in various diseases, including cancers. The lncRNA TPT1-AS1 (TPT1 Antisense RNA 1) promotes tumor progression in several cancers, including ovarian cancer (OC), but its influence on ferroptosis and interaction with other proteins remains underexplored.
Methods: In this study, we employed a multi-faceted approach to investigate the functional significance of TPT1-AS1 in OC.

Objective: To understand the disease burden of esophageal cancer (EC) attributable to inadequate fruit intake in China and global from 1990 to 2019 stratified by age and sex.
Methods: Global Burden of Disease Study (GBD 2019) were pooled to calculate the number of deaths, standardized mortality rate, disability-adjusted life years (DALY) and DALY rate of EC attributed to low fruit intake in China and globally by age and sex from 1990 to 2019. The population attributable fractions (PAF) were applied to estimate the proportion of EC caused by low fruit intake.

Liver fibrosis is a severe global health problem. However, no effective antifibrotic drugs have been approved. Surf4 is primarily located in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and mediates the transport of secreted proteins from the ER to the Golgi apparatus.

Studies have indicated cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) could have a significant impact in gastric cancer (GC) progression and chemotherapy resistance. However, the gene related to cancer fibroblasts that can be used as biomarkers to judge the occurrence of gastric cancer has not been fully explored. Based on two Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) datasets, we focus on differentially expressed genes which may act as CAFs markers related to GC.

Background: Amiodarone is a class III antiarrhythmic drug that is commonly used in the clinic to treat ventricular arrhythmias and atrial fibrillation. We present a case report of the adverse effects of amiodarone and review its characteristics.
Case Report: A 73-year-old Asian female with a history of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation managed with amiodarone, well-controlled hypertension, and no substance abuse presented with gastrointestinal distress and dizziness, without chest pain or palpitations.

Introduction: The research on plant leaf morphology is of great significance for understanding the development and evolution of plant organ morphology. As a relict plant, the leaf morphology typically exhibits bifoliate and peltate forms. However, throughout its long evolutionary history, Ginkgo leaves have undergone diverse changes.

Background: Radical laparoscopic gastrectomy is an important treatment modality for gastric cancer. Surgery requires general anesthesia, and patients are susceptible to the effects of anesthetic drugs and carbon dioxide insufflation during the procedure, leading to inflammation or severe pain, which can affect patient outcome.
Aim: To explore the efficacy of combining dexmedetomidine (DEX) with nalbuphine in patients underwent laparoscopic radical gastrectomy for gastric cancer.

Background: Myocardial infarction (MI) is a chronic cardiovascular disease. This study aims to discern potentially angiogenesis- and epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT)-related genes as biomarkers for MI diagnosis through bioinformatics.
Methods: All datasets and angiogenesis- and EMT-related genes were collected from the public database.

Background: An important factor in the pathogenesis of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is chronic low-grade inflammation. However, the exact pathophysiology of PCOS is currently unknown, which makes clinical diagnosis and the development of effective treatments more difficult. We aimed to investigate the role of the inflammatory response in initiating and progressing PCOS.

Purpose: Resolvin D1 (RvD1) inhibits inflammation, reduces oxidative stress, and forecasts the risk of cardiovascular events, but relevant evidence in hemodialysis patients is lacking. This study intended to investigate the predictive value of RvD1 for major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) risk in hemodialysis patients.
Methods: Totally, 252 patients who underwent hemodialysis were included.

Steroid-induced osteonecrosis of the femoral head (SONFH) is the predominant cause of non-traumatic osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH). Impaired blood supply and reduced osteogenic activity of the femoral head are the key pathogenic mechanisms of SONFH. Fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23) levels are not only a biomarker for early vascular lesions caused by abnormal mineral metabolism, but can also act directly on the peripheral vascular system, leading to vascular pathology.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a complex neurodegenerative condition characterized by metabolic imbalances and neuroinflammation, posing a formidable challenge in medicine due to the lack of effective treatments. Despite considerable research efforts, a cure for AD remains elusive, with current therapies primarily focused on symptom management rather than addressing the disease's underlying causes. This study initially discerned, through Mendelian randomization analysis that elevating pantothenate levels significantly contributes to the prophylaxis of Alzheimer's disease.

The role of the small ubiquitin-like modifier (SUMO) protein, especially post-exercise, in cancer progression, is gaining attention, as are the potential anti-cancer effects of SUMOylation.

Background: Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS), an acquired immune-mediated autoimmune disorder affecting the peripheral nervous system (PNS), is associated with autoimmunity. The presence of autoantibodies in the blood is an important feature of autoimmune diseases. Herein, we explored the distribution characteristics of the antinuclear antibodies (ANAs) in GBS and the correlation between ANAs and disease severity.

BACKGROUND Gastrointestinal diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (GI-DLBCL) is the most common histological subtype of extra-nodal DLBCL, but the risk factors, prognostic biomarkers, histopathological classifications, and treatment strategies have not had significant progress. Emerging evidence shows that cystatin SN (CST1) is involved in tumor progression in several cancer types, but its role in GI-DLBCL has not been revealed. MATERIAL AND METHODS We established a cohort consisting of 84 patients with GI-DLBCL who underwent surgical resection.

Glycosylation and phosphorylation rank as paramount post-translational modifications, and their analysis heavily relies on enrichment techniques. In this work, a facile approach was developed for the one-step simultaneous enrichment and stepwise elution of glycoproteins and phosphoproteins. The core of this approach was the application of the novel titanium (IV) ion immobilized poly(glycidyl methacrylate) microparticles functionalized with dendrimer polyethylenimine and phytic acid.

Anticancer strategies using natural products or derivatives are promising alternatives for cancer treatment. Here, we showed that licochalcone D (LCD), a natural flavonoid extracted from Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch, suppressed the growth of breast cancer cells, and was less toxic to MCF-10A normal breast cells. LCD-induced DNA damage, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis in breast cancer cells.
