PD-1/PD-L1 and coronary heart disease: a mendelian randomization study.

Introduction: It has been found that programmed cell death protein-1 (PD-1) or its ligand PD-L1 may play an important role in the onset and progression of coronary heart disease (CHD). Thus, we conducted this mendelian randomization analysis (MR) to estimate the causal relationship between PD-1/PD-L1 and 5 specific CHDs (chronic ischemic heart disease, acute myocardial infarction, angina pectoris, coronary atherosclerosis, and unstable angina pectoris), complemented by gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) for further validation.

Methods: Publicly available summary-level data were attained from the UK Biobank with genetic instruments obtained from the largest available, nonoverlapping genome-wide association studies (GWAS).

Effect of heart rate control with ivabradine on hemodynamic in patients with sepsis: study protocol for a prospective, multicenter, randomized controlled trial.

Introduction: Sepsis, a life-threatening syndrome, is often accompanied by tachycardia in spite of hypovolemia and hypotension have been corrected. Recently, relevant studies have shown that sustained tachycardia in sepsis was related to high mortality, and appropriate control of heart rate (HR) could improve prognosis. Nucleolar and spindle-associated protein 1 (NUSAP1), a microtubule-associated protein, has been recently identified to exhibit aberrant expression patterns that correlate with malignant tumorigenesis and progression across various cancer types. However, the specific regulatory mechanisms and potential targeting therapies of NUSAP1 in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) remain largely elusive. In this study, by conducting bioinformatics analyses as well as and experiments, we identified that NUSAP1 was significantly upregulated in LUAD, with a notable correlation with poorer overall survival, higher scores for immunogenicity and immune infiltration, as well as increased sensitivity to conventional chemotherapeutic drugs such as paclitaxel, docetaxel and vinorelbine in LUAD.

T-bet and Eomes, both T-box transcription factors, have been extensively studied for their critical roles in the differentiation and functional maintenance of various immune cells. In this review, we provide a focused overview of their contributions to the transcriptional activation and differentiation, development, and terminal maturation of natural killer cells and innate lymphoid cell 1 cells. Furthermore, the interplay between T-bet and Eomes in regulating NK cell function, and its subsequent implications for immune responses against infections and tumors, is thoroughly examined.

Liver transplantation following two conversions in a patient with huge hepatocellular carcinoma and portal vein invasion: A case report.

Background: Surgical resection and liver transplantation (LT) are the most effective curative options for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, few patients with huge HCC (> 10 cm in diameter), especially those with portal vein tumor thrombus (PVTT), can receive these treatments. Selective internal radiation therapy (SIRT) can be used as a conversion therapy for them because it has the dual benefit of shrinking tumors and increasing residual hepatic volume.
