Hemorrhagic stroke (HS) mainly includes intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) and subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), both of which seriously affect the patient's prognosis. Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) metabolites and HS showed a link in observational studies. However, the causal association between them is not clear.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) affects 6%-10% of women of reproductive age and is known to be associated with disruptions in the gut bacteria. However, the role of the gut mycobiota in PCOS pathology remains unclear. Using culture-dependent and internal transcribed spacer 2 (ITS2)-sequencing methods, we discovered an enrichment of the gut-colonizable fungus Aspergillus tubingensis in 226 individuals, with or without PCOS, from 3 different geographical areas within China.

Facial nerve injuries lead to significant functional impairments and psychological distress for affected patients. Effective repair of these injuries remains a challenge. For longer nerve gaps, the regeneration outcomes after nerve grafting remain suboptimal due to limited sources and postoperative immune responses.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) represents the commonly occurring cardiac arrhythmia and the main factor leading to stroke and heart failure. Hydrogen (H2) is a gaseous signaling molecule that has the effects of anti-inflammation and antioxidation. Our study provides evidence that hydrogen decreases susceptibility to AngII-mediated AF together with atrial fibrosis.

Background And Purpose: Vestibular migraine (VM) is a common clinical disorder with a genetic predisposition characterized by recurrent episodes of dizziness/vertigo. Patients often complain of the presence of cognitive dysfunction manifestations such as memory loss, which causes great distress in daily life. In this study, we will explore the characteristics and possible risk factors of VM-related cognitive dysfunction by observing the cognitive function and vestibular function status of VM patients, laying the foundation for further exploration of the mechanisms of VM-related cognitive dysfunction.

Background: This study aimed to explore factors affecting adherence to targeted therapy in patients with renal cell carcinoma, focusing on the fear of adverse drug reactions.
Methods: This retrospective case-control study selected patients with renal cancer who received targeted therapy at our hospital from June 2021 to April 2023, categorising them based on their adherence to oral targeted drugs.
Results: Patients with good compliance reported significantly lower levels of fear related to disease progression and adverse drug reactions ( < 0.

Pulpotomy, which belongs to vital pulp therapy, has become a strategy for managing pulpitis in recent decades. This minimally invasive treatment reflects the recognition of preserving healthy dental pulp and optimizing long-term patient-centered outcomes. Pulpotomy is categorized into partial pulpotomy (PP), the removal of a partial segment of the coronal pulp tissue, and full pulpotomy (FP), the removal of whole coronal pulp, which is followed by applying the biomaterials onto the remaining pulp tissue and ultimately restoring the tooth.

Myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (IR) injury is a common adverse event in the clinical treatment of myocardial ischemic disease. Autosis is a form of cell death that occurs when autophagy is excessive in cells, and it has been associated with cardiac IR damage. This study aimed to investigate the regulatory mechanism of circRNA CDR1AS on autosis in cardiomyocytes under IR.

To develop an atrophic Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) animal model via liquid nitrogen cryotherapy, the eyelid edges of C57 mice exposure to liquid nitrogen for 30 s. Morphology of MG and ocular surface were assessed using stereomicroscopy and a slit lamp microscope at multiple time points post-injury. Acinar loss and atrophy were observed from day 7, with increased inflammation and apoptosis, and decreased proliferation in acinar cells.

Background: Tumor-derived small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) play an essential role in reprogramming the tumor microenvironment. Metabolic reprogramming is an essential prerequisite for M2 polarization of tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs). This M2 phenotype is closely related to the immune dysfunction of CD8 T cells and subsequent tumor progression.

Background: Inactivation or mutations of FAM20C causes human Raine Syndrome, which manifests as lethal osteosclerosis bone dysplasia or non-lethal hypophosphatemia rickets. However, it is only hypophosphatemia rickets that was reported in the mice with Fam20c deletion or mutations. To further investigate the local and global impacts of Fam20c mutation, we constructed a knock-in allele carrying Fam20c mutation (D446N) found in the non-lethal Raine Syndrome.

Background: The detrimental effects of a high-fat diet (HFD) extend beyond metabolic consequences and include systemic chronic inflammation (SCI), immune dysregulation, and gut health disruption.
Objectives: In this study, we used Mendelian randomization (MR) to investigate the relationship between HFD and gut microbiota, and SCI.
Methods: Genetic variants associated with dietary fat were utilized to explore causal relationships.

The left ventricular pressure-strain loop (PSL) is a new technique based on ultrasound for noninvasive quantitative evaluation of global and local myocardial work (MW). This study is aimed at evaluating improvement factors of patients with heart failure (HF) reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) using the PSL technique. A total of 88 patients with HF were enrolled in this study, which had ≤ 40% left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF).

Heme oxygenase 1 (HO-1), an enzyme involved in heme catabolism, has been shown upregulated in microglia cells and plays a critical roles in neurological damages after intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). However, the mechanisms by which HO-1 mediates the neuronal damages are still obscure. Here, our findings demonstrate that HO-1 over-expression exacerbates the pro-inflammatory response of microglia and induces neuronal ferroptosis through promoting intracellular iron deposition in the ICH model both in vitro and in vivo.

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is an immune-related inflammatory bowel disease, with its underlying mechanisms being a central area of clinical research. O-GlcNAcylation plays a critical role in regulating immunity progression and the occurrence of inflammatory diseases and tumors. Yet, the mechanism of O-GlcNAc-associated colitis remains to be elucidated.

Alternative splicing (AS) contributes to transcript and protein diversity, affecting their structure and function. However, the specific transcriptional regulatory mechanisms underlying AS in the context of hepatic ischemia reperfusion (IR) injury in mice have not been extensively characterized. In this study, we investigated differentially alternatively spliced (DAS) genes and differentially expressed transcripts (DETs) in a mouse model of hepatic IR injury using the high throughput RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) analysis and replicate multivariate analysis of transcript splicing (rMATS) analysis.

This study aimed to analyze the baseline clinical characteristics, as well as the clinical features and risk factors of early death (ED) in older patients with acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL). A retrospective analysis was conducted on 198 consecutive older patients (age ≥ 50 years) with newly diagnosed APL who received arsenic trioxide alone as induction therapy, with 354 younger patients (age < 50 years) as controls. Ten easily obtainable clinical parameters were selected.
