MicroRNAs are often deregulated in most cancer types and have important functions in carcinogenesis and cancer progression. Here, we studied the function of microRNA-34 (miR-34a) in osteosarcoma MG63 and U-2OS cells by expressed with pre-miR-34a, anti-miR-34a and corresponding negative controls, respectively. Cells proliferation, cell cycle and apoptosis was measured by MTT and flow cytometry assay.

Being beneficial in restoring stability and stiffness of osteoporotic vertebraes, cement augmentation techniques including vertebroplasty (VP) and kyphoplasty (KP) have been demonstrated to be effective for the treatment of patients with osteoporotic vertebral compressive fractures (OVCFs). However, it is unclear the influence of cement augmentation on the dynamics of pathologic and adjacent vertebraes under vibration condition. In this study, we developed a three-dimensional (3D) finite-element (FE) model of the spinal T12-Pelvis segment by using CT scan data of lumbar spine of an adult woman with no physical abnormalities.

It has previously been reported that microRNA (miR)-155 is linked to the recurrence and prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) following liver transplantation. However, the role of miR-155 in the invasion and metastasis of HCC cells remains largely unclear. The aim of this study was to investigate the expression of miR-155 in HCC cells and its role in the invasion and migration of HCC cells .

Neonatal maternal separation (MS) is a major early life stress that increases the risk of emotional disorders, visceral pain perception and other brain dysfunction. Elevation of toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) signaling in the paraventricular nucleus (PVN) precipitates early life colorectal distension (CRD)-induced visceral hypersensitivity and pain in adulthood. The present study aimed to investigate the role of TLR4 signaling in the pathogenesis of postnatal MS-induced visceral hypersensitivity and pain during adulthood.

Ticagrelor is the first reversible, direct-acting, potent P2Y receptor antagonist in management of acute coronary syndromes. It is rapidly absorbed and extensively metabolized. AR-C124910XX, the major active metabolite, antagonizes the P2Y receptor at approximately equal potency.

Persistent low-grade chronic inflammation is common in type 2 diabetes (T2D) and obesity. To date, the underlying molecular mechanism is not well understood. In this study, we aimed to investigate gut microbiota and the expression of monocyte surface molecules in obese T2D subjects who underwent Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) surgery.

A considerable number of studies have demonstrated that cytomegalovirus (CMV) reactivation after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (Allo-HSCT) could enforce graft-versus leukemia (GVL) effect in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients. However, the use of antithymocyte globulin (ATG) as part of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) prophylaxis may dampen this beneficial effect of CMV replication. In this context, we retrospectively analyzed the effect of CMV reactivation on relapse, survival and prognosis in a total of 227 AML patients who received a myeloablative (MA) conditioning regimen at a single research center between January 2010 and April 2013.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the correlation between strain and elasticity of the common carotid artery (CCA) by ultrasonography and evaluate its clinical significance in patients with diabetic nephropathy (DN).
Methods: A total of 68 DN patients and 54 healthy subjects were randomly recruited from the Ultrasound Department from April 2014 to March 2015. The maximum of circumferential strain (CSmax), maximum of circumferential strain rate (CSRmax), compliance coefficient (CC) and stiffness index (β) of the CCA were determined by ultrasonography in all the patients, and correlation analysis was performed.
