Objective: Here, we aim to investigate whether D-dimer (DD)/fibrinogen (FIB) ratio or combination of DD and FIB contribute to the prognosis of stroke and stroke subtypes.

Methods: 1413 patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) were recruited. We measured DD and FIB levels on admission and followed up with patients at discharge and 90-day following discharge.

Genome-wide analysis of alternative splicing differences in hepatic ischemia reperfusion injury.

Alternative splicing (AS) contributes to transcript and protein diversity, affecting their structure and function. However, the specific transcriptional regulatory mechanisms underlying AS in the context of hepatic ischemia reperfusion (IR) injury in mice have not been extensively characterized. In this study, we investigated differentially alternatively spliced (DAS) genes and differentially expressed transcripts (DETs) in a mouse model of hepatic IR injury using the high throughput RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) analysis and replicate multivariate analysis of transcript splicing (rMATS) analysis.

Study on clinical features of early death in older patients with acute promyelocytic leukemia.

This study aimed to analyze the baseline clinical characteristics, as well as the clinical features and risk factors of early death (ED) in older patients with acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL). A retrospective analysis was conducted on 198 consecutive older patients (age ≥ 50 years) with newly diagnosed APL who received arsenic trioxide alone as induction therapy, with 354 younger patients (age < 50 years) as controls. Ten easily obtainable clinical parameters were selected.

Learning curve for double-port video-assisted thoracoscopic lung segmentectomy: a propensity score matching study.

Objective: To determine the learning curve for double-port video-assisted thoracoscopic (VATS) lung segmentectomy performed by the same surgical team in our center.

Methods: We retrospectively collected clinical data from 193 patients who underwent double-port video-assisted thoracoscopic lung segmentectomy from March 2017 to March 2023. The operative time (OT) was analyzed using the cumulative sum (CUSUM) method, and two stages of the learning curve were obtained.

Purpose: To investigate the combined effects of super-active platelet lysate (sPL) and acellular amniotic membrane (AAM) in promoting endometrial repair and enhancing endometrial receptivity in rats.

Methods: The characteristics of sPL-AAM were examined through scanning electron microscopy, contact angle tester, and release experiments. We aimed to establish a rat model for endometrial injury.

Background: Thyroid cancer (TC) is a prevalent malignant tumor of the endocrine system in China. Current research primarily focuses on clinical diagnosis and treatment as well as underlying mechanisms, lacking epidemiological studies on the burden of the disease in China and worldwide.

Methods: The Global Burden of Disease Study 2021 was utilized to assess the incidence, prevalence, death, and disability-adjusted life years of TC in China and worldwide from 1990 to 2021 using the Joinpoint and R software.

TET3-facilitated differentiation of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells into oligodendrocyte precursor cells for spinal cord injury recovery.

Background: Spinal cord injury (SCI) inflicts a severe burden on patients and lacks effective treatments. Owing to the poor regenerative capabilities of endogenous oligodendrocyte precursor cells (OPCs) following SCI, there is a growing interest in alternative sources, such as human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (HUCMSCs). TET3 is a key DNA demethylase that plays an important role in neural differentiation, but its role in OPC formation is not well understood.

Study on identification of diagnostic biomarkers in serum for papillary thyroid cancer in different iodine nutrition regions.

Background: At present, there is a lack of efficient biomarkers for the diagnosis of thyroid cancer, and the influence of natural factors such as high iodine exposure on the expression of biomarkers remains unclear.

Methods: Serum samples from papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) and non-cancer controls matched 1:1 in different iodine nutritional regions were analyzed metabolomically using an ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-Orbitrap Exploris mass spectrometry (UHPLC-OE-MS) platform. Then the data were randomly divided into training and test sets in a 1:1 ratio according to the different iodine nutritional regions and different PTC status.

Application of electrochemical deposition of CeO₂ nanoparticles modified 3D printed porous Ti6Al4V scaffold in bone defect repair.

Due to the limited self-regeneration capacity of bone, medical interventions is often required for large segmental bone defects. In this study, the application of porous titanium alloy (Ti6Al4V) scaffold in bone defect repair was investigated. Owing to its excellent mechanical properties and biocompatibility, Ti6Al4V is a preferred choice for orthopedic implants.

Biomechanical study between two varieties of axial screw fixation techniques: Analysed by finite elements.

Background: The atlantoaxial vertebral model was established in order to compare the biomechanical properties of C2 pedicle and translaminar screws from the perspective of the screws themselves.

Methods: A finite element model of the screw-vertebrae was developed. The screw load-displacement ratios were analysed under up/down and left/right load conditions; the vertebral load-displacement ratios under flexion/posterior extension (FLX/EXT), left/right lateral bending (LLB/RLB), and left/right rotation (LAR/RAR) load conditions; the bone-screw interface stress values and screw load-displacement ratios under physiological load conditions; and the structural stress values of the screw-rod structure under front/back and left/right load conditions.

Background: Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a common issue among older men. Diagnosis of BPH currently relies on imaging tests and assessment of urinary flow rate due to the absence of definitive diagnostic markers. Developing more accurate markers is crucial to improve BPH diagnosis.

Background: Cases of ruptured distal intracranial aneurysms (DIAs) in the posterior circulation are rare. Currently, the most commonly used approach in clinical practice to treat this condition is reconstructive endovascular treatment. However, research on endovascular treatment of intracranial posterior circulation ruptured DIAs is currently lacking.

Background: Pyroptosis, a specific type of programmed cell death, which has become a significant factor to Parkinson's disease (PD). Concurrently, long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have garnered attention for their regulatory roles in neurodegenerative disorders. This study was designed to ascertain the key lncRNAs in pyroptosis pathways of PD and elucidate their regulatory mechanisms.

Objective: There has been no explanation for the exact mechanism of circRNAs in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). Circ_0007439 was investigated in this study to determine its role and mechanism in NPC.

Methods: To identify circ_0007439, microRNA (miR)-556-5p, and PTEN mRNA in NPC tissues and cells, RT-qPCR was employed.

Background: Capsaicin (CAP) induces transient pain sensation by activating transient receptor potential vanilloid-1 (TRPV1). However, the initial neuronal excitation induced by CAP is followed by a prolonged refractory period, resulting in long-lasting analgesia. Although the effects of CAP on microglia in the dorsal root ganglion of neuropathic pain disorders have been reported, the regulatory pathways of CAP on microglia remain poorly defined.

A STT3A-dependent PD-L1 glycosylation modification mediated by GMPS drives tumor immune evasion in hepatocellular carcinoma.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a malignant tumor characterized by rapid progression. To explore the regulatory mechanism of rapid tumor growth and metastasis, we conducted proteomic and scRNA-Seq analyses on advanced HCC tissues and identified a significant molecule, guanine monophosphate synthase (GMPS), closely associated with the immune evasion in HCC. We analyzed the immune microenvironment characteristics remodeled by GMPS using scRNA-Seq and found GMPS induced tumor immune evasion in HCC by impairing the tumor-killing function of CD8  T cells.

Intramedullary schwannoma of conus medullaris with syringomyelia: a case report and literature review.

Intramedullary schwannomas in the conus medullaris are very rare and are usually not associated with syringomyelia. We report a unique case of intramedullary schwannoma in the conus medullaris with long-segment syringomyelia. The patient was a 60-year-old male, initially presenting with left dorsalgia, subsequently developing weakness in the right lower extremity.

Renal cell carcinoma and macrophage research: A bibliometric analysis (2004-2023).

To analyze hotspots and trends in renal cell carcinoma (RCC)-macrophage research using bibliometric analysis, although numerous studies on macrophages in RCC have been recently reported, understanding the progressive trends in this field remains challenging. Publications focused on macrophages in RCC were extracted from the Web of Science Core Collection. VOSviewer, Citespace, and Bibliometrics online platforms were used to visualize hot topics and global trends in RCC-macrophage research.

Evaluation of the safety, biodistribution, dosimetry of [F]AlF-NYM005 and initial experience in clear cell renal cell carcinoma: an interim analysis of a prospective trial.

Purpose: This first-in-human study aimed to evaluate the radiation dosimetry and whole-body biodistribution of [F]AlF-NYM005, a novel small-molecule carbonic anhydrase IX (CAIX) targeting agent, and to investigate its ability to detect CAIX-positive tumors using PET scans in a cohort of clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) patients.

Methods: [F]AlF-NYM005 was synthesized using a fully automatic cassette module Mortenon M1 (Nuoyu, China). Thirty-five patients with a suspicious lesion considered primary renal malignancy or a history of ccRCC were prospectively recruited and studied.
