TiRobot-assisted versus freehand femoral neck system placement in the treatment of femoral neck fractures: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

The purpose of this study is to assess the safety and effectiveness of TiRobot-assisted treatment for femoral neck fractures, in comparison to traditional freehand treatment methods. Throughout the research process, we conducted an extensive literature search across numerous databases, including PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), CQVIP, and Wanfang. Based on the literature screening criteria, we selected six studies, encompassing 358 cases of femoral neck fracture patients, for this meta-analysis.

Ferguson Plot Analysis of Chaperone ClpB from Moderate Halophile.

The Ferguson plot is a simple method for determining the molecular weight of native proteins and their complexes. In this study, we tested the validity of the Ferguson plot based on agarose native gel electrophoresis using multimeric chaperone protein, ClpB, derived from a moderate halophile that forms a native hexamer. The Ferguson plot showed a single band with a molecular weight of 1,500 kDa, approximately twice the size of the native hexamer.

Its application to large polyatomic molecules, crucial for understanding reaction dynamics, has thus far been limited by the complexity of their rotational-vibrational Raman spectra. Progress in developing comprehensive spectral codes for these molecules, a longstanding goal, has been hindered by prohibitively long computation times required for their spectral synthesis.

Genetic landscape in undiagnosed patients with syndromic hearing loss revealed by whole exome sequencing and phenotype similarity search.

There are hundreds of rare syndromic diseases involving hearing loss, many of which are not targeted for clinical genetic testing. We systematically explored the genetic causes of undiagnosed syndromic hearing loss using a combination of whole exome sequencing (WES) and a phenotype similarity search system called PubCaseFinder. Fifty-five families with syndromic hearing loss of unknown cause were analyzed using WES after prescreening of several deafness genes depending on patient clinical features.

Background: The quality of life (QOL) of ovarian cancer patients is often impaired by refractory ascites. Cell-free and concentrated ascites reinfusion therapy (CART) is a palliative treatment for refractory ascites, but adverse events, such as fever, are problematic. Several cytokines have been suggested to be responsible for the adverse events, but they have not been investigated in detail.

The study aimed to elucidate the underlying pharmacological mechanism of the traditional Chinese medicine Pue in ameliorating myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury (MIRI), a critical clinical challenge exacerbated by reperfusion therapy. In vivo MIRI and in vitro anoxia/reoxygenation (A/R) models were constructed. From ex vivo to in vivo chimeric antigen T cells manufacturing: new horizons for CAR T-cell based therapy.

In the past decades, Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR)-T cell therapy has achieved remarkable success, leading to the approval of six therapeutic products for haematological malignancies. Recently, the therapeutic potential of this therapy has also been demonstrated in non-tumoral diseases. Currently, the manufacturing process to produce clinical-grade CAR-T cells is complex, time-consuming, and highly expensive.

Background: Left ventricular (LV) myocardial contraction patterns can be assessed using LV mechanical dispersion (LVMD), a parameter closely associated with electrical activation patterns. Despite its potential clinical significance, limited research has been conducted on LVMD following myocardial infarction (MI). This study aims to evaluate the predictive value of cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR)-derived LVMD for adverse clinical outcomes and to explore its correlation with myocardial scar heterogeneity.

Integrating human biomonitoring exposure data into a primary care morbidity database: a feasibility study.

Background: The detection of a local per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) pollution hotspot in Zwijndrecht (Belgium) necessitated immediate action to address health concerns of the local community. Several human biomonitoring (HBM) studies were initiated, gathering cross-sectional exposure data from more than 10,000 participants. The linkage of these HBM data with primary care health registries might be a useful new tool in environmental health analysis.

Effect of pre-hospital living setting on nutritional intake route upon discharge in older adults with aspiration pneumonia: a prospective cohort study.

Background: Aspiration pneumonia, which often recurs due to dysphagia, worsens as patients move between homes, facilities, and hospitals. The impact of pre-hospital living setting on oral intake at discharge remains unclear. The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of the pre-hospital living setting on the nutritional intake route upon discharge in older patients with aspiration pneumonia.

Successful pregnancy of an SMA type 3 sitter on Nusinersen therapy - a case report.

Background: Due to improved treatment options, more SMA patients reach childbearing age. Currently, limited data on pregnant SMA patients is available, especially in relation to disease-modifying therapies (DMT). This case report helps to elucidate new approaches for future guidelines in the management of pregnancy and SMA.

Background: Over the past decades, self-directed models of care have been implemented throughout the world to support older people, including those with dementia, to live at home. However, there is limited information about how self-directed home care is experienced by older people with cognitive impairment and dementia, and how their thinking informs their care choices and quality of life.

Methods: We used the ASCOT-Easy Read, a staggered reveal method, talk aloud techniques, probing questions, and physical assistance to support users of self-directed home care in Australia with cognitive impairment and dementia to discuss their Social Care Related Quality of Life (SCRQoL).

Targeting Siglec-E facilitates tumor vaccine-induced antitumor immunity in renal carcinoma.

Background: Siglec-E is an immune checkpoint inhibitory molecule. Expression of Siglec-E on the immune cells has been shown to promote tumor regression. This study aimed to develop an adenovirus (Ad) vaccine targeting Siglec-E and carbonic anhydrase IX (CAIX) (Ad-Siglec-E/CAIX) and to evaluate its potential antitumor effects in several preclinical renal cancer models.

Background: Cystic echinococcosis (CE) is a significant public health issue, primarily affecting the liver. While several management strategies exist, there is a lack of predictive tools to guide surgical decisions for hepatic CE. This study aimed to develop predictive models to support surgical decision-making in hepatic CE, enhancing the precision of patient allocation to surgical or non-surgical management pathways.

Background: Diagnostics for neurodegenerative diseases lack non-invasive approaches suitable for early-stage biochemical screening and routine examination of neuropathology. Biomarkers of neurodegenerative diseases pass through the brain-nose interface (BNI) and accumulate in nasal secretion. Sample collection from the brain-nose interface presents a compelling prospect as basis for a non-invasive molecular diagnosis of neuropathologies.
