We have studied the time-dependent optical properties of nanowaveguides containing an ensemble of noninteracting quantum emitters and interaction metallic nanoparticles. We have developed a theory for transient photoluminescence (PL) and exciton population density using the density matrix method. A variety of theories have been proposed to explain why states pass legislation to regulate professional groups, and why, more recently, they have acted to curtail professional privileges. While these theories have drawn attention to the importance of power dynamics and public protection, among other factors, the role of political interests has been downplayed. Behavioral and neuroscience studies in humans and primates have shown that memorability is an intrinsic property of an image that predicts its strength of encoding into and retrieval from memory. While previous work has independently probed when or where this memorability effect may occur in the human brain, a description of its spatiotemporal dynamics is missing. Purpose: Traditional direct ophthalmoscopy (TDO) is the oldest method of fundus examination; however, it has fallen out of use due to its technical difficulty and limitations to clinical utility, amidst the advent of potentially better options. A spectrum of new technologies may help in addressing the shortcomings of TDO: simulation mannequins with non-tracked TDO, simulation models with tracked TDO, and smartphone ophthalmoscopy (SFO).

Methodology: A systematic search of PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane databases for all studies evaluating usage of simulation mannequins/models and SFO in ophthalmology education was performed, from inception till April 2023 with no language restriction.

Synthesis and characterization of new P(III) and P(V) bis(azido)phosphines/phosphoranes supported by an ,'-bis(2,6-diisopropylphenyl) imidazolin-2-iminato (IPrN) ligand and their reactivity with various secondary and tertiary phosphines result in the formation of chiral and/or asymmetric mono(phosphinimino)azidophosphines via the Staudinger reaction. The reaction of IPrNP(N) () or IPrNP(S)(N) () with an excess of tertiary phosphine resulted in the chemoselective formation of IPrNP(N)(NPMe) () or IPrNP(S)N(NPR) (), respectively. The chemoselective Staudinger reactivity was also observed in reactions using a secondary phosphine (HPCy) to produce IPrNP(S)N[NP(H)Cy] (), which exists in equilibrium with a tautomeric IPrNP(S)N[N(H)PCy] form (), as confirmed by P-P nuclear Overhauser effect spectroscopy (NOESY).

Annual antler growth begins in the spring and is completed by late summer for male caribou () from the Qamanirjuaq herd (Nunavut, Canada), aligned with both the spring migration and a seasonal dietary shift. Antlers may provide a non-lethal means of studying short- and long-term changes in caribou ecology through incorporated isotopes of carbon (δC) and nitrogen (δN). CD5 is a member of the scavenger receptor cysteine-rich superfamily that is expressed on T cells and a subset of B cells (B1a) cell and can regulate the T cell receptor signaling pathway. Blocking CD5 function may have therapeutic potential in treatment of cancer by enhancing cytotoxic T lymphocyte recognition and ablation of tumour cells. The effect of administering an anti-CD5 antibody to block or reduce CD5 function as an immune checkpoint blockade to enhance T cell anti-tumour activation and function has not been explored.

This study employed a life course perspective to explore the resilience of Canadian women of various ages who had experienced intimate partner violence (IPV). Interpretive description was used to analyze 22 in-depth, semi-structured interview transcripts with women who ranged in age from >19 to 60+ years. Results revealed that developmental age affected service accessibility and effectiveness, historical age shaped abuse normalization, and social age presented barriers and facilitators to women's resilience.

Most low-mass stars form in stellar clusters that also contain massive stars, which are sources of far-ultraviolet (FUV) radiation. Theoretical models predict that this FUV radiation produces photodissociation regions (PDRs) on the surfaces of protoplanetary disks around low-mass stars, which affects planet formation within the disks. We report James Webb Space Telescope and Atacama Large Millimeter Array observations of a FUV-irradiated protoplanetary disk in the Orion Nebula.
