Wearable electronic textiles (e-textiles) are transforming personalized healthcare through innovative applications. However, integrating electronics into textiles for e-textile manufacturing exacerbates the rapidly growing issues of electronic waste (e-waste) and textile recycling due to the complicated recycling and disposal processes needed for mixed materials, including textile fibers, electronic materials, and components. Here, first closed-loop recycling for wearable e-textiles is reported by incorporating the thermal-pyrolysis of graphene-based e-textiles to convert them into graphene-like electrically conductive recycled powders.

The demand for strengthening reinforced concrete (RC) structures has increased considerably. Implementing carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) bars and concrete jacketing are the most effective techniques for RC beam retrofitting. Using the mechanical anchorage system (MAS) to attach CFRP bars to old concrete is highly recommended to avoid any debonding when it is applied to cyclic loads.

When viewing the actions of others, we not only see patterns of body movements, but we also "see" the intentions and social relations of people. Experienced forensic examiners - Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) operators - have been shown to convey superior performance in identifying and predicting hostile intentions from surveillance footage than novices. However, it remains largely unknown what visual content CCTV operators actively attend to, and whether CCTV operators develop different strategies for active information seeking from what novices do.

The marine sponge Hymeniacidon perlevis is a globally distributed and invasive species with extensive filter-feeding characteristics. The symbiotic relationship fostered between the sea sponge and the inhabiting microorganism is key in the production of metabolic enzymes which is the focus of this study. Sponge bacterial symbionts were grown on starch agar for 48hrs.

Objectives: Fatigue is prevalent in people with inflammatory rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases (I-RMDs) and recognised as one of the most challenging symptoms to manage. The existence of multiple factors associated with driving and maintaining fatigue, and the evidence about what improves fatigue has led to a multifaceted approach to its management. However, there are no recommendations for fatigue management in people with I-RMDs.

One promising approach to reducing the large carbon footprint of petroleum-based resins is the use of bio-based thermoset resins. However, current fiber-reinforced bio-based epoxy composites exhibit relatively lower mechanical properties such as tensile, flexural strength, and modulus, which limits their wider application.

This article will critically explore the concept of planetary health and locate the role and identity of the mental health nurse (MHN) within it. Like humans, our planet thrives in optimum conditions, finding the delicate balance between health and ill-health. Human activity is now negatively impacting the homeostasis of the planet and this imbalance creates external stressors that adversely impact upon human physical and mental health at the cellular level.

In this paper, we are proposing a blockchain-based architectural model to ensure the integrity of healthcare-sensitive data in an AI-based medical research context. In our approach, we will use the HL7 FHIR standardized data structure to ensure the interoperability of our approach with the existing hospital information systems (HIS). Indeed, structuring the data coming from several heterogeneous sources would enhance its quality.

Background: Clinical methods examining oxygenation parameters in humans have been used in many different care settings, but concerns have been raised regarding their clinical utility when assessing people with darker skin pigmentation. While saturation values can be crucial in emergency medicine, they are equally valuable in assessing disease mechanisms and monitoring change in disease progression. Retinal pigmentation varies across individuals and hence, can impact on retinal oxygen parameters.

Electronic textiles (e-textiles) have drawn significant attention from the scientific and engineering community as lightweight and comfortable next-generation wearable devices due to their ability to interface with the human body, and continuously monitor, collect, and communicate various physiological parameters. However, one of the major challenges for the commercialization and further growth of e-textiles is the lack of compatible power supply units. Thin and flexible supercapacitors (SCs), among various energy storage systems, are gaining consideration due to their salient features including excellent lifetime, lightweight, and high-power density.

Bacterial canker is a major disease of stone fruits and is a critical limiting factor to sweet cherry () production worldwide. One important strategy for disease control is the development of resistant varieties. Partial varietal resistance in sweet cherry is discernible using shoot or whole tree inoculations; however, these quantitative differences in resistance are not evident in detached leaf assays.

Food is one of the most traded goods, and the conflict in Ukraine, one of the European breadbaskets, has triggered a significant additional disruption in the global food supply chains after the COVID-19 impact. The disruption to food output, supply chains, availability, and affordability could have a long-standing impact. As a result, the availability and supply of a wide range of food raw materials and finished food products are under threat, and global markets have seen recent increases in food prices.

To meet the enormous demand for smart manufacturing, industrial robots are playing an increasingly important role. For industrial operations such as grinding 3C products, numerous demands are placed on the compliant interaction ability of industrial robots to interact in a compliant manner. In this article, an adaptive compliant control framework for robot interaction is proposed.

Processes that utilise low-value wastes and convert them to high-value food ingredients systemically add value across commercial operations. Current common disposal options include use as animal feed, anaerobic digestion, composting, incineration, and the worst-case options of landfill and wastewater disposal. The pressure is acute with food manufacturers needing to align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and reach targets of zero waste to landfill.

The paper presents a methodology enabling the detection of aircraft touchdowns based on data obtained from accelerometers attached to the structural parts of the airframe in the cockpit or passenger compartment. Precise determination of the moment and place of touchdown of the main landing gear is challenging when analysing parameters such as height, flight speed and rate of descent. During the tests of the I-31T aircraft, it turned out that vibrations of the aircraft structure caused by the contact of the front and main landing gear with the ground have a repetitive character.

Background: Evidence for aspirin's chemopreventative properties on colorectal cancer (CRC) is substantial, but its mechanism of action is not well-understood. We combined a proteomic approach with Mendelian randomization (MR) to identify possible new aspirin targets that decrease CRC risk.
Methods: Human colorectal adenoma cells (RG/C2) were treated with aspirin (24 hours) and a stable isotope labeling with amino acids in cell culture (SILAC) based proteomics approach identified altered protein expression.

In order to achieve saturating transposon mutagenesis of the genome of plant pathogenic strains of Pseudomonas syringae we needed to improve plasmid conjugation frequency. Manipulation of the growth stage of donor and recipient cells allowed the required increase in frequency and facilitated conjugation of otherwise recalcitrant strains.
