Introduction: Middle meningeal artery embolization (MMAe) is increasingly utilized as a primary or secondary treatment for chronic subdural hematoma (cSDH) and is usually performed with liquid embolics or particles. Outcomes after MMAe with coiling as a standalone treatment, or an adjunct to other agents, have not been reviewed.
Methods: A systematic review of the literature was performed to identify all original research that included patients who underwent standalone or adjunctive coiling for MMAe.

Background: Symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH) after mechanical thrombectomy (MT) is associated with worse outcomes. We sought to develop and internally validate a machine learning (ML) model to predict sICH prior to MT in patients with anterior circulation large vessel occlusion.
Methods: Consecutive adults who underwent MT for internal carotid artery/M1/M2 occlusions at a single institution were reviewed.

Panoramic radiography imaging modality is widely used by dentists for diagnosing dental and jaw conditions. It can also detect carotid artery calcification (CAC), indicative of calcified atherosclerotic plaques in the carotid arteries. This cross-sectional retrospective study at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center investigated the link between CAC identified on panoramic radiograph (PR) and cerebrovascular accident (CVA), coronary artery disease (CAD), and poor oral health.

Osteoradionecrosis of the jaw is a morbid complication of radiotherapy in patients with oral and oropharyngeal cancers that may be precipitated by dental extractions. Pentoxifylline and tocopherol (PENTO) has been utilized in the management of osteoradionecrosis and as prophylaxis for post-radiated head and neck oncology patients requiring an invasive dental procedure. This observational study aims to report the outcome of the prophylactic use of PENTO in the prevention of osteoradionecrosis of the jaw after dental extractions in post-radiated oral and oropharyngeal cancer patients and to review the current literature on this topic.

These high levels of stress related to IPV can be associated with the daily activities of survivors and their relationships with their children, such as maternal-child bonding. The purpose of the current study is to explore the relationship between daily activities, daily stress levels, parenting self-efficacy and behaviors, and maternal-child bonding among survivors living in an IPV shelter using an ecological momentary assessment (EMA) methodology.

The practice of medicine in recent years has emphasized the use of evidence-based clinical guidelines to help inform treatment decisions. Since its development in 2004, the GRADE (Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation) approach has offered a systematic process for reviewing and summarizing the certainty of evidence found in the medical literature regarding various treatment options. To develop truly patient-centered care guidelines, this appraisal of the certainty of evidence must be combined with an understanding of the balance between benefits and harms, patient preferences, equity, feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and policy implications.

Purpose Of Review: Esophageal cancer (EC) is a common cancer affecting many regions of the world and carries significant morbidity and mortality. In this article, we review the key risk factors and their associated impact on the changing incidence and prevalence of EC subtypes within different global regions. We also highlight potential reasons for the ever-changing epidemiology of this prevalent cancer type.

Cemento-osseous dysplasia (COD) is a form of benign fibro-osseous lesion of the jaw. We sought to evaluate the demographic and clinical presentations of COD by collecting and analyzing the demographic, clinical, radiographic, and pathologic data of COD diagnosed in our institution from 2017 to 2022. Over this six-year period, the records of 191 patients with COD were reviewed.

This report presents an extremely rare case of -rearranged primary central mucoepidermoid carcinoma (MEC) of the mandible that was discovered as an incidental finding. Our review of the literature identified 36 cases of rearranged intraosseous lesions of the jaw (30 central MECs, 5 odontogenic cysts with mucous prosoplasia, and 1 glandular odontogenic cyst). Given the therapeutic indications for a diagnosis of MEC (a malignant neoplasm), rearrangement should be confirmed in suspected cases of central MEC.

SAP97 is a member of the MAGUK family of proteins, but unlike other MAGUK proteins that are selectively expressed in the CNS, SAP97 is also expressed in peripheral organs, like the heart and kidneys. SAP97 has several protein binding cassettes, and this review will describe their involvement in creating SAP97-anchored multiprotein networks. SAP97-anchored networks localized at the inner leaflet of the cell membrane play a major role in trafficking and targeting of membrane G protein-coupled receptors (GPCR), channels, and structural proteins.

Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is now considered the mainstay of aortic stenosis management; however, the optimal antithrombotic therapy in patent without indications for an oral anticoagulant (OAC) is yet to be identified. Therefore, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the efficacy and safety of direct oral anticoagulant (DOAC) treatment versus the standard of care in patients without indications of OACs after TAVR. We synthesized randomized controlled trials (RCTs) from Web of Science, SCOPUS, EMBASE, PubMed, and Cochrane until 18 August 2022.

There have been an increase in multi-drug resistant (MDR) organisms causing infections with high mortality and morbidity. Bacteria that carry metallo-β-lactamases (MBLs) are particularly dangerous. Novel antibiotic combinations, such as ceftazidime-avibactam with aztreonam, are in clinical trials for the treatment of MBL-harboring bacteria.

Background: Moyamoya disease is a chronic, progressive cerebrovascular disease involving occlusion or stenosis of the terminal portion of the internal carotid artery. We conducted an updated systematic review and meta-analysis to investigate clinical and angiographic outcomes comparing direct, combined, and indirect bypass for the treatment of moyamoya disease in adults.
Methods: Two independent authors performed Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses guided literature searches in December 2021 to identify articles reporting clinical/angiographic outcomes in adult moyamoya disease patients undergoing bypass.
