Indications for and implications of germline genetic testing (GGT) in patients with prostate cancer have expanded over the past decade, particularly related to precision therapies and management. GGT has become the standard of care for many cancers such as breast, ovarian, colorectal, pancreatic, and metastatic prostate cancer, and it is imperative that patients be offered timely and equitable access to testing as it can inform patient-physician shared decision making for management of the current cancer as well as anticipatory guidance for disease progression. Additionally, GGT guides screening for and prevention of secondary malignancies for the patient and cascade testing for at-risk family members.

Background: Camurati-Engelmann disease (CED) is an extremely rare autosomal dominant genetic disorder that can cause increased intracranial pressure (ICP) secondary to cranial hyperostosis, which decreases intracranial volume. Surgical procedures to reduce ICP in medically refractory cases include intracranial volume expansion and ventriculoperitoneal shunting.
Observations: The authors present the case of a pediatric patient with CED and medically refractory increased ICP who underwent unilateral hemicraniectomy with titanium cranioplasty, resulting in a complete long-term resolution of symptoms.

Purpose To determine whether fluorine 18 (F) fluorothymidine (FLT) PET imaging alone or combined with Mount Sinai Acute GVHD International Consortium (MAGIC) biomarkers could help identify subclinical gastrointestinal graft versus host disease (GI-GVHD) by day 100 following hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). Materials and Methods F-FLT PET imaging was analyzed in a prospective pilot study (ClinicalTrials.gov identifier no.

The History, ECG, Age, Risk Factors, and Troponin (HEART) score is a risk stratification tool often used to determine the disposition of chest pain patients. This study evaluates the association of age, gender, HEART score, diabetes mellitus (DM), hypertension (HTN), hypercholesterolemia, family history (Fam Hx), and tobacco use with major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) and hospital readmission.

The integration of nanotechnology into cancer treatment has revolutionized chemotherapy, boosted its effectiveness while reduced side effects. Among the various nanotherapeutic approaches, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) stand out as promising carriers for targeted chemotherapy, with the added benefit of enabling combination therapies. MOFs, composed of metal ions or clusters linked by coordination bonds, tackle critical issues in traditional cancer treatments, such as poor stability, limited efficacy, and severe side effects.

The patient is a 51-year-old woman who had been experiencing syncope and near-syncopal events for at least 10 years with an otherwise benign neurological exam. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed an extra-axial mass consistent with a midline planum and tuberculum sellae meningioma, for which the patient opted to have resected. We demonstrate how performing a posterior orbitotomy with anterior clinoidectomy can enhance a lateral supraorbital craniotomy.

Objective: Engaging users during physical exercise is crucial for fostering long-term commitment, however, sustaining that engagement remains a significant challenge. This study explores the design of a voice-enabled exoskeleton-based virtual exercise coach (VEC) that provides real-time verbal feedback to enhance user engagement. The objectives of this study are twofold: (i) to compare user engagement with real-time verbal feedback from both VEC and human exercise coach (HEC) during physical exercise, and (ii) to understand users' perceptions and gather their recommendations for improving future VEC technologies.

Iron deficiency (ID) is the most prevalent nutrient deficiency in the world, with a growing literature documenting the negative effects of ID on perception, attention, and memory. Animal models of ID suggest that dysregulation of dopamine is responsible for the deficits in memory. However, evidence that ID affects dopamine in humans is extremely limited.

Purpose: A health disparity refers to a greater disease burden or negative health outcomes influenced by social, economic, and environmental factors. Numerous studies in the surgical literature show that social drivers of health affect health outcomes. Similar disparities may affect treatment and outcomes of spine deformity patients.

The hemodynamic and convective heat transfer effects of a patient-specific endovascular therapeutic agent based on shape-memory polymer foam (SMPf) are evaluated using computational fluid dynamics studies for six patient-specific aneurysm geometries. The SMPf device is modeled as a continuous porous medium with full expansion for the flow studies and with various degrees of expansion for the heat transfer studies. The flow simulation parameters were qualitatively validated based on the existing literature.

Habitat transitions have shaped the evolutionary trajectory of many clades. Sea catfishes (Ariidae) have repeatedly undergone ecological transitions, including colonizing freshwaters from marine environments, leading to an adaptive radiation in Australia and New Guinea alongside non-radiating freshwater lineages elsewhere. Here, we generate and analyze one long-read reference genome and 66 short-read whole genome assemblies, in conjunction with genomic data for 54 additional species.

Non-volatile memristors dynamically switch between high (HRS) and low resistance states (LRS) in response to electrical stimuli, essential for electronic memories, neuromorphic computing, and artificial intelligence. High-entropy Prussian blue analogs (HE-PBAs) are promising insertion-type battery materials due to their diverse composition, high structural integrity, and favorable ionic conductivity. This work proposes a non-volatile, bipolar memristor based on HE-PBA.
