Background: It is unclear whether hip and pelvic mobility in the sagittal plane are associated with hip function in FAIS. This study aimed to determine whether hip-pelvis-lumbar mobility is associated with preoperative hip function and postoperative outcomes in FAIS.

Methods: This was a level 3 case-control study.

Background: There has been increasing evidence that exercise therapy is effective in the treatment and prevention of major depression (MD). However, the basic molecular mechanisms underlying the effects of exercise on MD remain unclear. We conducted a preliminary study to clarify the effect of exercise therapy on MD, focusing on the dynamics of nitric oxide (NO) and catecholamine metabolites, which have been found to be associated with MD.

[Use of a Guidebook for Stroke Patients to Promote Health and Employment Support].

When stroke patients consider a return to work, several difficulties are encountered regarding the promotion of support for both their health and employment due to the different perspectives of the patients, their families, and medical institutions. The Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare has published a guideline for medical institutions and offices, but not for stroke patients or their families. As a result, patients and their families do not know how to process both medical treatments and their work after the occurrence of a stroke.

The CeCORD-J study on collagenase injection versus aponeurectomy for Dupuytren's contracture compared by hand function and cost effectiveness.

This study compared hand function and the cost-effectiveness of treatment between collagenase Clostridium histolyticum (CCH) injection and limited fasciectomy for patients with Dupuytren's contracture (DC). The CeCORD-J study is a prospective, multicenter, non-randomized controlled, observational study of two parallel groups. Participants were DC patients with multiple affected fingers, including flexion contracture of the proximal interphalangeal (PIP) joint.

Accurate cup placement using a portable navigation system during total hip arthroplasty based on pelvic orientation in the lateral decubitus position.

Background: We previously proposed an accurate cup placement procedure using a portable navigation system (PNS) for total hip arthroplasty (THA) in the lateral decubitus position; however, the accuracy of our proposed procedure has not been shown, the aim of this study was to demonstrate the accuracy.

Methods: We prospectively analyzed 79 hips treated with primary THA; 40 hips treated until June 2020 were included in the conventional procedure (CP) group, and 39 hips treated from July 2020 were included in the modified procedure (MP) group. In the MP, pelvic orientation is considered to be the set coordinate axes in addition to the CP using the PNS.

Verbascoside administered intrathecally attenuates hyperalgesia via activating mu-opioid receptors in a rat chronic constriction injury model.

Background: Verbascoside, a representative phenylethanoid glycoside, is widely distributed in plants and has various activities beneficial for human health. Although systemically administered verbascoside has an antinociceptive effect, little is known about the site and mechanism of its activity. The aim of the present study was to determine whether verbascoside attenuates neuropathic pain in the spinal cord and which pain regulatory systems are involved.

Relationship Between Employment Status and Unstable Periods in Outpatients with Bipolar Disorder: A Multicenter Treatment Survey for Bipolar Disorder in Psychiatric Outpatient Clinics (MUSUBI) Study.

Purpose: To clarify the relationship between the length of unstable periods and employment status of patients with bipolar disorder.

Patients And Methods: Medical records of outpatients with bipolar disorder who visited 176 member clinics of the Japanese Association of Neuro-Psychiatric Clinics were investigated during September-October 2016, and details of their medical care and employment were surveyed using a questionnaire. The odds ratios (ORs) of length of unstable period and unemployment were analyzed with a logistic regression model.

Neoadjuvant Nivolumab plus Chemotherapy in Resectable Lung Cancer.

Background: Neoadjuvant or adjuvant chemotherapy confers a modest benefit over surgery alone for resectable non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). In early-phase trials, nivolumab-based neoadjuvant regimens have shown promising clinical activity; however, data from phase 3 trials are needed to confirm these findings.

Methods: In this open-label, phase 3 trial, we randomly assigned patients with stage IB to IIIA resectable NSCLC to receive nivolumab plus platinum-based chemotherapy or platinum-based chemotherapy alone, followed by resection.

Background/aim: This study investigated the impact of the extent of variant histology (VH) on the prognosis of patients with bladder cancer (BC).

Patients And Methods: We retrospectively evaluated consecutive patients with muscle-invasive BC who were treated with radical cystectomy (RC) at our institution between 2005 and 2018. Recurrence-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS) rates were evaluated using Kaplan-Meier analysis and Cox regression.

A phase II multicenter trial assessing the efficacy and safety of first-line S-1 + ramucirumab in elderly patients with advanced/recurrent gastric cancer: KSCC1701.

Background: The mainstream first-line chemotherapy for advanced/recurrent gastric cancer (ARGC) is combination therapy including platinum-based agents. With the progressive aging of the society, the incidence of gastric cancer in elderly patients is increasing. However, elderly patients cannot tolerate these agents because of renal dysfunction or low quality of life.

Associations between continuous glucose monitoring-derived metrics and HbA1c in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Aims: The aim of this study was to define the relationship between time in range (TIR) and hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).

Methods: The glycemic profile of 999 Japanese patients was analyzed with FreeStyle Libre Pro Continuous Glucose Monitoring (FLP-CGM) while they continued their prescribed glucose-lowering medications. FLP-CGM data recorded over 8 consecutive days were analyzed.

Objective: MCTD manifests with microvasculopathy and overlapping clinical features of SLE, SSc and idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIM). The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical significance of microvasculopathy in patients with MCTD using nailfold videocapillaroscopy (NVC).

Medication wastage is a global issue; however, there are few reports in Japanese hospitals. The purpose of this study was to clarify the situation of medication wastage at our university hospital. We investigated the numbers, costs, reasons, occurrence departments, and involvement of high-priced medications of medication wastage for two years.

The Hospital of the University of Occupational and Environmental Health, Japan, opened its Support Center of Treatment and Work Balance in 2018. This is a multi-disciplinary department for supporting the balance of work and medical treatment.

A multicenter study of radiation doses to the eye lenses of clinical physicians performing radiology procedures in Japan.

Purpose: We investigated occupational dose to the lens of the eye for physicians engaged in radiology procedures. We evaluated the potential for compliance with the new-equivalent dose limits to the lens of the eye. Further, a "multiple radiation protection" protocol was proposed according to the basic principles of occupational health, and its effectiveness was estimated.

Combined detection of lymphocyte clonality and MALT1 translocations in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid for diagnosing pulmonary lymphomas.

Diagnosis of pulmonary lymphoma using small tissue samples is difficult and often requires surgical procedures; thus, a less invasive sampling method is desirable. We previously showed that pulmonary mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma can be diagnosed by detecting MALT lymphoma translocation gene 1 (MALT1) translocations in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) cells. Analysis of B-cell clonality based on immunoglobulin heavy chain (IGH) gene rearrangements was also reportedly useful for diagnosing pulmonary lymphoma.

Endoscopic Shelf Acetabuloplasty Concomitant With Labral Repair, Cam Osteoplasty, and Capsular Plication to Treat Acetabular Dysplasia in Artistic Athletes: A Case Series.

Background: Knowledge of clinical outcomes and return to artistic activities after endoscopic shelf acetabuloplasty (ESA) for acetabular dysplasia in artistic athletes is lacking.

Hypothesis: Hip arthroscopic surgery including ESA will enable artistic athletes to return to their activities with a high success rate, significantly improved acetabular coverage, and preserved joint cartilage.
