A Snapshot of Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience Program Characteristics.

Objective: To provide schools and colleges of pharmacy a snapshot of Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience (IPPE) program characteristics to generate and share ideas for IPPE program modifications to improve student learning outcomes and comply with Standards 2025.

Methods: A 41-item electronic survey was distributed to 140 Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education fully accredited schools and colleges of pharmacy in 2023. IPPE program characteristics such as structure, learning activities, assessments, and requirements were described.

The pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of continuous infusion vancomycin in adult people with cystic fibrosis.

Background: The American Thoracic Society Guidelines recommend vancomycin as first line option for treatment of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. Two studies have described the pharmacokinetics (PK) of intermittent intravenous (IV) vancomycin in adult people with cystic fibrosis (PwCF). Currently, there have not been any studies describing the PK of continuous infusion vancomycin in PwCF.

Peer evaluation of teaching programs within pharmacy education: A review of the literature.

Background: Student evaluations of teaching are one method to evaluate faculty teaching, but alone may have bias. Peer evaluation of teaching represents an important approach in assessing and providing feedback to faculty, however, numerous strategies exist for implementation. This review was conducted to identify existing peer evaluation of teaching programs and to describe their development, implementation, and outcomes.

Introduction: Over 4 billion prescriptions are dispensed each year to patients in the United States, with the number of prescriptions continuing to increase. There is a growing recognition of pharmacists' potential in improving medication safety in community settings, in collaboration with primary care providers (PCPs). However, the nature of collaboration has not been well defined, and barriers and strategies are not articulated.

An assessment of patient experiences as teachers of cultural sensitivity in an interprofessional setting.

Background And Purpose: The importance of cultural sensitivity training in pharmacy education is well-recognized, though best practices are not well described. Traditional teaching approaches such as faculty lectures may result in overgeneralization, lack of nuance, or tokenization. Utilizing patients from diverse special populations as teachers of cultural sensitivity may mitigate these risks.

Oral Immunotherapy With Human Secretory Immunoglobulin A Improves Survival in the Hamster Model of Clostridioides difficile Infection.

Coadministration of human secretory IgA (sIgA) together with subtherapeutic vancomycin enhanced survival in the Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) hamster model. Vancomycin (5 or 10 mg/kg × 5 days) plus healthy donor plasma sIgA/monomeric IgA (TID × 21 days) or hyperimmune sIgA/monomeric IgA (BID × 13 days) enhanced survival. The prospect of term limits for involves a wide variety of important organizational issues, including succession planning, institutional memory, strategic decision-making, and concepts regarding leadership styles overall. This paper examines both sides of the debate regarding the appropriateness of term limits for administrative appointments.

Optimizing Patient Outcomes with PD-1/PD-L1 Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors for the First-Line Treatment of Advanced Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer.

The rapidly expanding repertoire of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) now includes two agents, pembrolizumab and atezolizumab, approved for first-line treatment of advanced non-small cell lung cancer (aNSCLC) as monotherapy or as part of chemoimmunotherapy. This review summarizes the clinical evidence supporting these indications, with a focus on strategies to optimize patient outcomes. These strategies include patient and tumor factors, adverse-effect profiles, pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic drug interactions, and quality of life and cost-effectiveness considerations.
