Background/objectives: Pasireotide (PAS) is a somatostatin receptor ligand (SRL) used to treat acromegaly, a chronic condition caused by excess growth hormone. While it offers significant benefits as a second-line treatment for uncontrolled acromegaly, its use raises major concerns due to hyperglycemic side effects and gastrointestinal issues, the latter being similar to those seen with first-generation SRLs. The aim of this study is to evaluate the real-world evidence on adverse drug reactions (ADRs) reported for PAS in the EudraVigilance database, in comparison to other established drug-based therapies for acromegaly.

: Our study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of ClearCorrect clear aligners (The Straumann Group) in improving gingival recession, which developed following prior fixed orthodontic treatment. The specific objectives were to assess changes in recession severity in patients with orthodontic gingival recessions following aligner therapy and to determine whether the initial severity of recession influenced improvement rates across three categories-mild (RT1), moderate (RT2), and severe (RT3)-as defined by the Cairo classification. This observational study comprised 398 patients divided as follows: 155 with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) pneumonia, 129 participants with viral CAP, and 114 with bacterial pneumonia.

This study aimed to assess the influence of different types of blue light sources on male and female rats' puberty onset, the morphologic-induced alterations in reproductive organs tissues, the impact on inflammation and oxidative stress markers, anxiety levels, and mathematical modeling for tissue data interpretation. Four groups of sixteen rats each (8 females and 8 males/group) were investigated: three groups were exposed to blue light from mobile phones (MP), computer screens (PC), or LED lamps (LED) versus the control group (CTRL). The rats in the CTRL group had no exposure while the other groups were exposed for 30 days to the blue light of MP, PC, and LED for 16 h per day.

Ethylene glycol toxicosis in 39 sport horses following ingestion of contaminated water: A case report.

Ethylene glycol toxicosis is a common occurrence in dogs and cats but has been reported in other species as well. Up to date, only one case of ethylene glycol toxicosis has been described in horses, and specific guidelines for treating ethylene glycol intoxication in this species are not available. Here we describe the case of 39 sport horses that ingested water contaminated with ethylene glycol.
