MiR-199a-3p was previously predicted to target tumor suppressor gene , which has been linked to cancer onset and therapeutic response. In this study, the effects of miR-199a-3p-mediated dysfunction on triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) progression and chemosensitivity were assessed. The association between miR-199a-3p and expression was examined in TNBC tumors and verified with luciferase reporter and protein assays.

Background: Resveratrol, a naturally occurring polyphenolic compound, has been shown to inhibit cancer growth by targeting several cancer-related signalling pathways. In the tumor microenvironment (TME), tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) are the most abundant leukocyte population that are associated with poor prognosis in over 80% of breast cancer cases. However, little is known about the effect of resveratrol in the TME.

Background And Purpose: To explore the prognostic value of different radiologic extranodal extension (rENE) grades and their potential improvement for the 8th edition N category in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC).
Materials And Methods: From 2009 to 2013, a cohort of 1887 patients with NPC was retrospectively enrolled and randomized to the training (n = 955) and validation (n = 932) groups. rENE was categorized as follows: grade 0, nodes without rENE; grade 1, nodes with rENE infiltrating the surrounding fat only; grade 2, matted nodes; grade 3, nodes with rENE infiltrating adjacent structures.

Targeted therapeutic agents such as poly (ADP-ribose) polymerases (PARP) inhibitors have emerged in treating cancers associated with germline mutations. Recently studies demonstrated the effectiveness of PARP inhibitors in treating patients with somatic mutations. Somatic mutations in 122 Chinese breast or ovarian cancer patients without mutations were screened using multigene sequencing panel.

Cellular metabolism reprogramming is a hallmark in cancers including breast cancer. Switching off the glycolytic energy in cancer has been indicated as one of the anti-cancer strategies. Aberrant haptoglobin () expression has been shown to cause metabolic dysfunction and implicated in different malignancies.

Differences in the mutation spectrum across ethnicities suggest the importance of identifying genes in addition to common high penetrant genes to estimate the associated breast cancer risk in China. A total of 1338 high-risk breast cancer patients who tested negative for germline BRCA1, BRCA2, TP53, and PTEN mutations between 2007 and 2017 were selected from the Hong Kong Hereditary Breast Cancer Family Registry. Patient samples were subjected to next-generation DNA sequencing using a multigene panel (Color Genomics).

Disease burden is the most important determinant of survival in patients with cancer. This domain, reflected by the cancer stage and codified using the tumour-node-metastasis (TNM) classification, is a fundamental determinant of prognosis. Accurate and consistent tumour classification is required for the development and use of treatment guidelines and to enable clinical research (including clinical trials), cancer surveillance and control.

Radiotherapy is used in >50% of patients with cancer, both for curative and palliative purposes. Radiotherapy uses ionizing radiation to target and kill tumour tissue, but normal tissue can also be damaged, leading to toxicity. Modern and precise radiotherapy techniques, such as intensity-modulated radiotherapy, may prevent toxicity, but some patients still experience adverse effects.

Purpose: This is an updated combined analysis of 2 randomized studies (NPC-9901 and NPC-9902 trials) to evaluate the 10-year outcome attributed to the addition of concurrent-adjuvant chemotherapy for advanced locoregional nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC).
Patients And Methods: Eligible patients with stage III-IVB nonkeratinizing NPC were randomly assigned to radiation therapy alone (RT: 218 patients) or chemoradiation therapy (CRT: 223 patients) using 3 cycles of cisplatin (100 mg/m) concurrent with RT, followed by 3 cycles of cisplatin (80 mg/m) and fluorouracil (1000 mg/m/day for 4 days). All of the patients were irradiated with conventional fractionation to ≥66 Gy.

Importance: Modern precision radiotherapy is an innovative and effective treatment of cancer, yet it is unclear how radiotherapy trials are affected by expanding targeted and immune therapies and declining National Institutes of Health funding.
Objective: To analyze and compare the characteristics of radiotherapy trials with other oncological trials registered on ClinicalTrials.gov.

Objective: To evaluate the performance of an automated DNA-image-cytometry system as a tool to detect cervical carcinoma.
Methods: Of 384 liquid-based cervical cytology samples with available biopsy follow-up were analyzed by both the Imager System and a high-risk HPV test (Cobas).
Results: The sensitivity and specificity of Imager System for detecting biopsy proven high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (HSIL, cervical intraepithelial neoplasia [CIN]2-3) and carcinoma were 89.
