Teriparatide, a recombinant form of parathyroid hormone, were well recognized as a useful option for the treatment of the osteoporosis. Although some side effects of teriparatide include headache, nausea, dizziness, and limb pain were reported. Here we present a 80-year-old woman of transient asymptomatic hypotension with once-weekly subcutaneous injection of teriparatide for the treatment of osteoporosis with hypertension disease as acute-phase reactions.

Introduction: Fracture-dislocation of the thoracic or lumbar spine often results in severe neurologic deficits if dislocation is significant. However, cases of fracture-dislocation of the thoracic or lumbar spine without neurologic deficits are rarely reported in the literature, and the choice of the treatment has been controversial.
Case Report: Two female patients, aged 27 and 35 years, were injured in motor vehicle accidents and did not have neurological deficits except for slight numbness in the thighs in one case.

Objective: We aimed to compare rhythmic masticatory muscle activity typical of sleep bruxism and oromandibular myoclonus (OMM) during rapid eye movement (REM) sleep in patients with idiopathic REM sleep behavior disorder (iRBD) and in Parkinson disease (PD) patients with RBD (PD-RBD).
Methods: Sleep polygraphic data were collected from 9 age-matched controls and 28 patients (mean±standard error of the mean, 66.0±1.

The treatment period over which radiation therapy is administered extends over several weeks. Since tumor shrinkage in response to radiation therapy and weight loss due to radiation-induced mucositis may impact on the dose distribution in both target and organ at risk in patients with head and neck cancer, the anatomical changes of tumor and neck volumes during this period should be taken into consideration. We investigated the anatomical changes that occurred in the target and normal structure of the neck during radiation therapy for pharyngeal cancer, and evaluated the necessity of an adaptive strategy.

Parafunctional habits, such as prolonged clenching and bruxism, have been associated with dysfunctional overloading in the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). In this study, stress distributions in the TMJ were analysed during prolonged clenching, using three-dimensional finite element (FE) models of the TMJ with and without disc displacement. The aim of this study was to investigate stress distribution of the cartilaginous tissues in the TMJ with and without disc displacement.

Background: Sliding indirect inguinal hernias containing the ovary and fallopian tube are not uncommon in younger girls. Although an irreducible ovary is not at great risk of incarceration, this condition may become a significant risk factor for torsion or strangulation. This paper describes the indications for surgery in children with irreducible ovaries.

The aim of this study was to identify salivary immunoglobulin A (IgA) directed to oral microbial GroEL in patients with periodontitis and to demonstrate their potential protective role through a reduction of inflammatory cytokine production induced by microbial GroEL. Using five different proteins belonging to the heat-shock protein 60 family, Western immunoblot analysis of salivary IgA from 63 subjects revealed immunoreactivities with Campylobacter rectus GroEL and Porphyromonas gingivalis GroEL in subjects with periodontitis (P < 0.05) compared to control subjects.
