Introduction: The meticulous management of risk factors is paramount in the effective control of allergic rhinitis (AR), playing a significant role in diminishing both the direct medical expenditures and the indirect economic impacts associated with the condition. Presently, there is a notable deficiency in research concerning the risk factors for severe AR, as well as the correlation between serum allergen-specific immunoglobulin E (sIgE) levels and the severity of AR symptoms.
Methods: The study utilized data from a cross-sectional epidemiological survey conducted in Guangzhou, China, from April 2023 to March 2024, involved 638 AR patients.

Effective treatment against glioma remains challenging nowadays because the protective blood-brain barrier (BBB) impedes drug penetration into brain and the limited efficacy of conventional chemotherapy. While strong positively charged nanoparticles have good permeability through the BBB, they often come with the caveat of cationic toxicity to healthy tissues and organs during blood circulation. Here we show a neutrally charged nanoprobe with a surface decorated with γ-glutamyl moieties that can be cleaved by γ-glutamyl transpeptidase, an enzyme overexpressed on brain capillaries.

Background: Lung cancer brain metastases (LC-BrMs) are frequently associated with dismal mortality rates in patients with lung cancer; however, standard of care therapies for LC-BrMs are still limited in their efficacy. A deep understanding of molecular mechanisms and tumor microenvironment of LC-BrMs will provide us with new insights into developing novel therapeutics for treating patients with LC-BrMs.
Methods: Here, we performed integrated analyses of genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, metabolomic, and single-cell RNA sequencing data which were derived from a total number of 154 patients with paired and unpaired primary lung cancer and LC-BrM, spanning four published and two newly generated patient cohorts on both bulk and single cell levels.

There are limited data regarding the impact of Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection on the composition of human breast milk, and there is no international consensus on the nutritional management of newborns of HBV-positive mothers. We hypothesised that HBV infection can alter the composition of breast milk and that newborns require additional nutritional supplements for healthy growth. We conducted a prospective observational cohort study that recruited 150 pregnant women with HBV infection and matched them with a healthy control group.

Gastric cancer is a prevalent malignancy of the digestive system, and traditional laparoscopic radical gastrectomy remains a crucial treatment modality. However, the abdominal wound associated with specimen removal during this procedure conflicts with contemporary concept of minimally invasive surgery. Natural orifice specimen extraction surgery (NOSES) is an emerging minimally invasive surgical technique that has gained increasing utilization in patients with gastrointestinal tumors, owing to its benefits of reduced wound, accelerated postoperative recovery, and diminished postoperative pain.
