WDFY4 plays an essential role in the immune system by regulating B-cell growth and development and participating in antigen processing during cross-presentation. WDFY4 is closely related to asthma and systemic lupus erythematosus; however, its role in cancer remains unclear. The purpose of this study is to use bioinformatics to determine whether abnormal expression of WDFY4 is a risk factor for cancer and to preliminarily analyze the ways in which WDFY4 affects cancer through experiments.

Background: Pulse oximeters are vital for assessing blood oxygen levels but can produce inaccurate readings during patient motion, leading to false alarms and alarm fatigue. Analog SpO Technology, which uses analog waveforms to filter motion artifacts, may improve accuracy compared to digital sensors. However, the effectiveness of this technology in reducing false alarms in clinical settings remains unclear.

Inflammation and depression are serious complications of diabetes that interact to form a feedback loop and may hinder diabetic wound healing. They share a common pathophysiological basis of abnormal interactions between diabetic wounds and the brain. Here, we propose a strategy combining electroacupuncture (EA) stimulation of the Dazhui acupoint (GV14) with polyphenol-mediated conductive hydrogel microneedles to promote diabetic wound healing and alleviate depression through local wound-brain interactions.

Atherosclerotic calcification often coincides with osteoporosis, suggesting a potential interplay between bone and vascular mineralization. Osteoblast-derived matrix vesicles (Ost-MVs), pivotal in bone mineralization, have emerged as potential contributors to ectopic vascular calcification. However, the precise role of Ost-MVs in vascular calcification and the underlying mechanisms remain elusive.

Background: Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-targeted (HER2) therapy with antibody-drug conjugates has proven effective for patients with HER2-low breast cancer. However, intratumoral heterogeneity (ITH) poses a great challenge in identifying HER2-low tumors. ITH signatures were developed by quantifying ITH to differentiate HER2-positive, -low and -zero breast cancers.

Background: This study aimed to evaluate the association between peak tricuspid regurgitation velocity (TRV) and 1-year heart failure (HF) readmission in hospitalised patients with HF with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) because the impact of peak TRV on the short-term prognosis of these patients has been unclear.
Methods: From January 2020 to December 2021, 513 hospitalised HFpEF patients age ≥ 60 years with 1-year follow-up were included in this study. Peak TRV was classified as normal (≤ 2.

Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and major depressive disorder (MDD) are common stress-related psychiatric disorders. Genetic and neurobiology research has supported the viewpoint that PTSD and MDD may possess common and disorder-specific underlying mechanisms. In this systematic review, we summarize evidence for the similarities and differences in brain functional and structural features of MDD, PTSD, and their comorbidity, as well as the effects of extensively used therapies in patients with comorbid PTSD and MDD (PTSD + MDD).

ARID1A deletion mutation contributes to improved treatment of several malignancies with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs). However, its role in modulating of tumor immune microenvironment (TIME) of gastric cancer (GC) remains unclear. Here, we report an increase of CD8 T cells infiltration in GC patients with ARID1A-mutation (MUT), which enhances sensitivity to ICIs.

Objective: To investigate the correlation between residual Syntax score (rSS) and long-term prognosis in diabetic patients with renal insufficiency undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
Methods: In this retrospective study, we included 510 patients with coronary heart disease, diabetes, and renal insufficiency who received PCI at the Third People's Hospital of Chengdu from July 2018 to December 2020. Patients were divided into three groups based on their eGFR levels: 113 patients with eGFR ≥ 60 mL/min/1.

In this letter, we extend our commendation to the authors of the study titled "Doxorubicin downregulates cell cycle regulatory hub genes in breast cancer cells" for their insightful work. However, we also propose several areas for potential enhancement. We identify the study's limitations, such as a focus on the effects of doxorubicin treatment over a limited 48-h period, potential biases due to algorithmic and database constraints, and the absence of in vivo model validation.

Background And Aims: The optimal management strategy for newly diagnosed pulmonary ground-glass nodules (GGNs) with suspected inflammatory etiology remains controversial in clinical practice. Empirical anti-inflammatory therapy is commonly used, but its efficacy compared with that of follow-up observation lacks high-quality evidence. Therefore, this study aims to compare the effectiveness of empirical anti-infective therapy and follow-up observation for pulmonary GGNs in real-world settings.

Pancreatic cancer remains one of the most lethal malignancies, with conventional treatment options providing limited efficacy. Recent advancements in immunotherapy have offered new hope, yet the unique tumor microenvironment (TME) of pancreatic cancer poses significant challenges to its successful application. This review explores the transformative impact of single-cell technology on the understanding and treatment of pancreatic cancer.

Liujunzi decoction (LJZD) is commonly used to treat hepatitis B virus (HBV), though its active ingredients and mechanisms are not fully known. This study identified core targets and active components of LJZD for treating hepatitis B (HB) through network pharmacology, molecular docking, and molecular dynamics simulation. Screening from databases yielded 533 active components, 2619 targets for LJZD, and 2910 for HB, with 891 intersecting targets.

The incidence of intraoperative hypothermia (IPH) exceeds 70% during spinal surgery, which can lead to many adverse outcomes, including increased intraoperative blood loss/transfusion and delayed recovery. We aimed to evaluate the comprehensive efficiency of a kind of enhanced warming measure on patients undergoing spinal surgery. A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data, surgical procedures, and outcomes of consecutive patients admitted to the department of orthopedics of a hospital from December 2019 to May 2023 and undergoing spinal surgery (scoliosis correction and internal fixation surgery).

Background: Vascular embolism is a severe complication following hyaluronic acid (HA) filler injections, with hyaluronidase injection being the most effective treatment. The nasal region, including the nose and nasolabial fold, is the most common site of vascular embolism after facial HA injections. Currently, there is insufficient clinical evidence regarding the benefits of facial artery thrombolysis.

Background: Respiratory compromise among ankylosing spondylitis (AS) patients is characterized by restrictive pulmonary function, leading to the need for a meticulous assessment of lung volume. Compared with conventional pulmonary function tests (PFTs), CT-based lung volume measurements have superior accuracy and are crucial for understanding functional limitations in AS. This study investigated the correlation between CT lung volume and PFT parameters in AS patients, with a focus on changes in CT parameters and lung volume in patients with compromised pulmonary function.

Background: Numerous studies have documented the effects of daytime napping, sleep duration, and depression on cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). However, the evidence has been gleaned from observational studies that might be riddled with confounding variables and the possibility of reverse causation bias. Therefore, the present study employed a Mendelian randomization (MR) methodology to meticulously explore the relationships between daytime napping, sleep duration, and depression, and the risk profiles of CVDs.
