Department of Breast Oncology, The Third People's Hospital of Yongzhou, Yongzhou City, Hunan Province, China.

This study aimed to investigate the roles of lysosome-related genes in BC prognosis and immunity. Transcriptome data from TCGA and MSigDB, along with lysosome-related gene sets, underwent NMF cluster analysis, resulting in two subtypes. Using lasso regression and univariate/multivariate Cox regression analysis, an 11-gene signature was successfully identified and verified.

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) have been recognized as pivotal regulators in tumorigenesis, yet the biological functions as well as molecular mechanisms of the majority of circRNAs in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remain elusive. We sought to unveil the expression profile and biological role of circMYBL2 in HCC. Initial microarray analyses were conducted to probe the expression profile of circMYBL2 in HCC cells, and qRT‒PCR analysis was then performed in HCC cell lines and tissues, revealing significant upregulation of circMYBL2.

May 2024

State Key Laboratory of Oncology in South China, Guangdong Provincial Clinical Research Center for Cancer, Sun Yat-Sen University Cancer Center, Guangzhou, China.

Article Synopsis
  • The Y-box-binding proteins (YBX1, YBX2, and YBX3) play a crucial role in cancer progression and drug resistance, but their full impact across different cancers is not well understood.
  • A comprehensive study analyzed clinical data from 28 types of cancers, finding that a newly developed YBXs score correlates with tumor progression, immune characteristics, and treatment efficacy.
  • The research identified YBX2 as a potential biomarker and therapeutic target for liver cancer, emphasizing the importance of the YBX family in cancer diagnostics and treatment strategies.

CIRCVMA21-RELATED PATHWAY ALLEVIATES LIPOPOLYSACCHARIDE-INDUCED HK-2 CELL INJURY.

Shock

July 2024

The First Affiliated Hospital, Department of Emergency, Hengyang Medical School, University of South China, Hengyang, China.

Background : It is reported that circVMA21 has an inhibition effect on sepsis-induced acute kidney injury (AKI). Therefore, the underlying molecular mechanisms of circVMA21 in AKI are worthy of further investigation. Material and Methods : Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) was used to induce HK2 cell injury.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is an endocrine disorder that affects women of childbearing age, resulting in reproductive dysfunction, hyperinsulinemia, and obesity. While several drugs are currently approved for use in these patients, their relative effectiveness remains controversial. The purpose of this meta-analysis was to evaluate the reproductive efficacy and safety of exenatide, a glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist, versus metformin, an insulin sensitizer, in the treatment of patients with PCOS.

Rationale Aims And Objectives: Hospital-acquired pressure injuries (HAPI) prolong hospital stays and are an important health problem worldwide. The aim of this study was to assess the frequency of and risk factors for intensive care unit (ICU)-acquired pressure injuries (IAPI) on the sacrum in critically ill patients in China.

Methods: We performed a multicenter, cross-sectional survey of IAPI on the sacrum in 23 adult ICUs in 19 hospitals in China.

Stem cell therapy is a promising strategy for the treatment of traumatic brain injury (TBI). However, animal experiments are needed to evaluate safety; in particular, to examine the immunogenicity and tumorigenicity of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (huMSCs) before clinical application. In this study, huMSCs were harvested from human amniotic membrane and umbilical cord vascular tissue.

Purpose: Patients with HER2-positive (HER2) metastatic breast cancer (MBC) have poor prognoses. Pyrotinib has shown promising antitumor activity in MBC to improve progression-free survival (PFS). However, findings based on real-world data to analyze whether pyrotinib affects overall survival (OS) remain scarce.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the expression of long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) small nucleolar RNA host gene 1 (SNHG1) in prostate cancer (PCa) patients and to assess the effects of SNHG1 on PCa cell proliferation and apoptosis.

Materials And Methods: A total of 134 PCa patients were randomly included from patients who underwent surgical resection at our hospital from October 2015 to December 2016. The SNHG1 expression levels in PCa tissues and paired adjacent non-cancerous tissues were detected by quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR).

Pyrotinib, an irreversible pan-ERBB inhibitor, has shown promising antitumour activity, and acceptable tolerability. This research was conducted to evaluate the actual use and effectiveness of pyrotinib in China, therefore, contributed to solve the problem of real-world data scarcity. In this retrospective study, 168 patients who received pyrotinib treatment for HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer (MBC) in Hunan Province from June 2018 to August 2019 were included.
