Background: While observational research has highlighted a possible link between ankylosing spondylitis (AS) and type 2 diabetes (T2DM), the quality of evidence remains limited, and the causal relationship is yet to be established. This study aims to explore the causal link between AS and T2DM, as well as its impact on traits related to glucose metabolism.

Method: To infer a causal relationship between AS and various diabetes-related traits, including type 1 diabetes (T1DM), T2DM, blood glucose levels, fasting glucose, glycated hemoglobin, and fasting insulin, we employed Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis.

Background: Non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) are present widely in the natural environment and can invade the human body through the respiratory tract, gastrointestinal tract, and skin. Immunocompromised patients are particularly prone to infection, which primarily affects multiple organs, including the lungs, lymph nodes, and skin. However, cases of NTM bloodstream infections are rare.

Nattokinase is a nutrient in healthy food natto that has the function of preventing and treating blood thrombus. However, its low thermostability and fibrinolytic activity limit its application in food and pharmaceuticals. In this study, we used bioinformatics analysis to identify two loops (loop10 and loop12) in the flexible region of nattokinase rAprY.

Objective: Whether there is a correlation between zinc-finger E-box-binding homolog 1 (ZEB1) and Yes-associated protein 1 (YAP1) with clinical outcome in gliomas remains unclear. Hence, this study aimed to investigate the effects of ZEB1 and YAP1 on the prognosis of human gliomas and its relationship with the isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 (IDH1) gene state.

Methods: Immunohistochemical staining was used to record the expression levels of ZEB1, YAP1, and p-YAP1 in 122 cases of low-grade glioma (LGGs) and 69 cases of glioblastoma (GBMs).

In the clinical treatment of large bone defects, distraction osteogenesis can be used. However, some patients may suffer from poor bone regeneration, or even delayed healing or non-union. Problems with the aggregation and proliferation of primary osteoblasts, or problems with the differentiation of primary osteoblasts will lead to poor bone regeneration.

To investigate the health status of workers exposed to occupational mercury, and to provide the theoretical basis for formulating reasonable health monitoring and targeted protection measures. In November 2021, 1353 mercury-exposed workers who underwent occupational health examination in a hospital in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region from 2018 to 2021 were collected as research subjects. By analyzing their blood pressure, electrocardiogram, blood routine, liver function and urine β2-microglobulin and urinary mercury in different gender, age, length of service, industry and enterprise scale, and the health status.

Effects of nano-titanium dioxide on calcium homeostasis and : a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Toxicol Mech Methods

May 2023

Department of Preventive Medicine/the Key Laboratories for Xinjiang Endemic and Ethnic Diseases, School of Medicine, Shihezi University, Shihezi, China.

With the extensive application of titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO NPs), their impacts on calcium homeostasis have aroused extensive attention from scholars. However, there are still some controversies in relevant reports. Therefore, a systematic review was performed followed by a meta-analysis to explore whether TiO NPs could induce the imbalance in calcium homeostasis and through Revman5.

Objective: To analyze the efficacy and safety of antiplatelet drugs combined with new oral anticoagulants (noac) in the treatment of coronary atherosclerotic heart disease (CAD).

Methods: The randomized controlled trials of noac combined with antiplatelet therapy in Cochrane, CNKI, PubMed, EMBASE, Wanfang, Google Scholar, and Baidu library were searched using the literature database. Two researchers independently searched and screened to ensure the consistency of the results, and the literature was summarized and analyzed by Revman 5.

Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the most common lung cancer with a highest mortality rate. MiR-497-5p has been reported as tumor suppressor in many cancers, but the role and mechanism of miR-497-5p in regulating NSCLC progression are still largely unknown in vitro and in vivo. Here, miR-497-5p was significantly downregulated in human NSCLC tissues and cell lines, compared with matched adjacent tissues and normal lung epithelial cell line.

Aberrant expression of the chemokine CXC receptor 4 (CXCR4) is closely associated with cancer progression and drug-resistance in multiple cancers, and we first investigated the role of CXCR4 in regulating cancer pathogenesis and cisplatin (DDP)-resistance in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) in the present study. Here, we identified that CXCR4 acted as an oncogene to promote cancer progression and genetically silencing of CXCR4 increased cisplatin (DDP)-sensitivity in ccRCC and . Functionally, analysis from the clinical and cellular data indicated that CXCR4 was significantly upregulated in ccRCC tissues and cells, compared to their normal counterparts.

Background: Stent under-expansion is a main cause of acute coronary syndrome (ACS), which can lead to serious clinical outcomes. The rotational atherectomy of underexpanded coronary stents (academically called stent ablation, SA) by intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) may provide more visual reference in the intervention. We aim to analyze the procedural and long-term outcomes of the optimized strategy of SA in patients with ACS and to provide real-world data on this technique.

Background: In recent years, a variety of long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) has been confirmed to be involved in the initiation and progression of osteosarcoma. Taurine-up regulated gene 1 (TUG1) plays an important role in the formation, invasion, and metastasis of osteosarcoma. Therefore, perhaps TUG1 is a potential biomarker for the prognosis of patients suffering from osteosarcoma.

Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is the most common subtype among renal cancer, and more and more researches find that the occurrence of ccRCC is associated with genetic changes, but the molecular mechanism still remains unclear. The present study aimed to identify aggregation trend of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in ccRCC, which would be beneficial to the treatment of ccRCC and provide research ideas using a series of bioinformatics approach. Gene ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Gene and Genomes (KEGG) analysis were used to get the enrichment trend of DEGs of GSE53757 and GSE16449.
