[Effect of advanced glycosylation end products on cell cycle of epidermal keratinocyte and the role of signal pathway].

Objective: To investigate the effect of advanced glycosylation end products (AGE) on cell cycle of epidermal keratinocyte and its possible signal pathway.

Methods: 150 mg/L AGE-human serum albumin (AGE-HSA) was prepared in vitro. Primary cultured keratinocytes in logarithmic growth phase were harvested and divided randomly into: A group [with treatment of defined keratinocyte-SFM (DK-SFM) serum-free medium], B group (with treatment of DK-SFM medium including 150 mg/L AGE-HSA), C group (with DK-SFM medium after treatment of U0126) and group D (with D K-SFM medium including 150 mg/L AGE-HSA after treatment of U0126).

[Application of reverse island flaps pedicled with cutaneous nerve nutrient vessels to repair defect on distal parts of extremities].

Objective: To analyze the feasibility of reverse island flaps pedicled with cutaneous nerve nutrient vessels in repairing the defect on distal parts of extremities.

Methods: Thirty patients with tissue defect in distal extremities, complicated by exposed vessels, nerve, tendons, and/or bones ,were repaired with island flaps pedicled with neurocutaneous nutrient vessel. Among them, five cases were grafted with flaps with external forearm cutaneous nerve vessels, eleven cases were grafted with flap containing sural neural nutrient vessels in its pedicle,and 14 cases with saphenous nerve nutrient vessels in the pedicles.

[Expression of COX-2 and MMP-9 in cervical carcinoma and their clinical significance].

Objective: To investigate the expressions of COX-2 and MMP-9 in cervical carcinoma and their clinical significance.

Methods: Immunohistochemical SP method was used to detect the expressions of COX-2 and MMP-9 in 72 cases of invasive carcinoma of cervix (ICC) and 16 cases of normal cervical epithelium remote from tumor (NCE), and the relationship between the expressions of COX-2 and MMP-9 in ICC and some factors relating to clinical pathology of cervical carcinoma such as histopathological grading, lymph node metastasis, stroma involvement and FIGO staging were analyzed statistically.

Results: The rates of positive expression of COX-2 and MMP-9 in ICC were significantly higher than those in NCE.

[Clinical significance of tracheotomy in children's burns].

Objective: To discuss the indications, timing and related issues of tracheotomy in burn together with inhalation injury in children.

Method: In 45 cases, 12 cases were done in general anesthesia, while 33 cases were done in local anesthesia. Analysis the characters in children anastomosis, the essentials in the operation and timing of pulling out the tracheal cannulas.

[Analysis on the causes of burn among 17,339 patients].

Objective: To find out the common causes of burn and to develop preventive measures to prevent or reduce the injury of burn.

Methods: Descriptive analysis was used to review the burn-cases in our Burn Department from 1970 to 1998 and to summarize the epidemic features and common causes of the injuries.

Results: From 1970 to 1998, a total number of 17 339 inpatients were seen in our Burn Department.
