To explore the optimal regimen of standardized mite allergen immunotherapy for airway allergic diseases in children, and to observe the clinical efficacy, safety and compliance. Use a retrospective real-world study, clinical data from 156 children aged 5-16 years who received subcutaneous immunotherapy (SCIT) with double mite allergen preparation in the pediatrics department of the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat sen University from June 2019 to September 2020 were selected for allergic rhinitis (AR) and/or allergic asthma (bronchial asthma, BA), including gender, age, total VAS(visual analogue scale) score and CSMS(combined symptom and medication scores) score at different time points (before treatment, 4-6 months, 1 year, and 2 years after initiation of desensitization), peripheral blood eosinophil counts (EOS), serum total IgE (tIgE), specific IgE (tIgE), and serum IgE (tIgE), specific IgE (sIgE), tIgG4, and incidence of local and systemic adverse reactions. All patients had a consistent regimen during the initial treatment phase (dose-escalation phase), which was performed as directed.

Patients with bladder cancer (BLCA) have a poor prognosis and little progress has been made in treatment. Therefore, the purpose of this work was to employ Mendelian randomization (MR) and transcriptome analysis to identify a novel biomarker that could be used to reliably diagnose BLCA. TCGA-BLCA and GSE121711 datasets were obtained from public databases.

Background: Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is a significant risk factor for a range of cardiovascular diseases. Nonetheless, the causal relationship between T1D and non-ischemic cardiomyopathy (NICM) remains to be elucidated. Furthermore, the mechanisms responsible for the progression from T1D to NICM have not been definitively characterized.

Background: As known abnormal sialylation exerts crucial roles in the growth, metastasis, and immune evasion of cancers, but the molecular characteristics and roles in bladder cancer (BLCA) remain unclear. This study intends to establish BLCA risk stratification based on sialylation-related genes and elucidate its role in prognosis, tumor microenvironment, and immunotherapy of BLCA.
Methods: Bulk RNA-seq and scRNA-seq data were downloaded from open-access databases.

Background: Sepsis remains the leading cause of postoperative death in elderly patients and is defined as organ dysfunction with proven or suspected infection according to Sepsis-3 criteria. To better avoid potential non-linear associations between the risk factors, we firstly used a tree-based analytic methods to explore the putative risk factors of geriatric sepsis based on the criteria in the study.
Methods: Data of 7,302 surgical patients aged ≥ 65 years at the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University from January 2015 to September 2020 were collected.

Natural killer (NK) cells are enriched in the central nervous system in aging-related atheriosclerotic cerebral small vessel disease (aCSVD), but their roles and underlying mechanism remain to be elucidated. To identify potential cytotoxic molecules released by NK cells in aCSVD lesions, proteomic analysis of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), plasma, and peripheral NK cells from patients with aCSVD were performed. We found that integrin β2 (ITGB2), cathepsin D (CTSD), and granzyme H (GZMH) were highly expressed in NK cells.

Objective: To investigate the expression rules of FOXO1a, FOXO3a, FOXO4 and FOXO6 proteins in the human testis, and explore their roles in the development and progression of testicular aging.
Methods: We collected the para-carcinoma testis tissue from 4 testis cancer patients aged 28, 31, 32 and 46 years, and the testis tissue from another 2 PCa patients aged 66 and 81 years after castration surgery from January 2018 to December 2020. We detected the expressions of FOXO1a, FOXO3a, FOXO4 and FOXO6 proteins in the testis tissue by Western blot, determined the locations of FOXO1a, FOXO3a, FOXO4 and FOXO6 in the testis cells by immunofluorescence staining, and performed semi-quantitative and statistical analyses using image J and SPSS 23.

Objective: To investigate the clinical diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of primary urothelial carcinoma of the prostate.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data on one case of primary urothelial carcinoma of the prostate and reviewed the relevant published literature.
Results: The patient, aged 83 years old and diagnosed with primary urothelial carcinoma of the prostate, was treated by neoadjuvant chemotherapy with gemcitabine plus cisplatin preoperatively, injected with 5-fluorouracil into the cutting edge of the tumor intraoperatively, and pathologically confirmed with high-grade invasive primary urothelial carcinoma of the prostate, followed by adjuvant chemotherapy with gemcitabine plus cisplatin.

With the rapid development of precision medicine and big data application, artificial intelligence (AI) has become a frontier technology in medical research. AI can be applied to the clinical diagnosis and treatment of reproductive diseases, prediction of pregnancy outcomes for infertile patients via the multi-layer neural network, and identification of the embryos with more developing potential from a series of embryo images by extraction of their texture features. AI can also provide medical workers with more accurate diagnosis and individualized treatment of reproductive diseases and help the patients better predict their reproductivity.

To investigate the relationship between high jugular bulb and tinnitus and hearing disorder. Forty-nine inpatient patients with hearing disorder were selected as the case group, and 50 cases as the control group, two groups of patients conducted temporal CT, audiogram to find out the patients who had hearing disorder, and then acoustic immittance, DPOAE, ABR,genetic screening for deafness and tinnitus questionnaire were conducted to the patients with hearing disorder. Sixteen cases of these 99 patients had high jugular bulb, the total incidence was 16.

Cardiovascular disease is frequent in chronic kidney disease and has been related to angiotensin II, endothelin-1 (ET-1), thromboxane A2, and reactive oxygen species (ROS). Because activation of thromboxane prostanoid receptors (TP-Rs) can generate ROS, which can generate ET-1, we tested the hypothesis that chronic kidney disease induces cyclooxygenase-2 whose products activate TP-Rs to enhance ET-1 and ROS generation and contractions. Mesenteric resistance arterioles were isolated from C57/BL6 or TP-R+/+ and TP-R-/- mice 3 months after SHAM-operation (SHAM) or surgical reduced renal mass (RRM, n=6/group).

In the present study we investigated the in vitro apoptosis inducing effects of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma (PPAR-gamma) ligand ciglitazone (CGZ) on acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) NB4 cells and its mechanisms of action. The results revealed that CGZ (10-50 micromol/l) inhibited the growth of leukemia NB4 cells and caused apoptosis in a time- and dose-dependent manner. Apoptosis was observed clearly by flow cytometry (FCM) and DNA fragmentation analysis.

During liver injury, bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) can migrate and differentiate into hepatocytes. Hepatic stellate cell (SC) activation is a pivotal event in the development of liver fibrosis. Therefore, we hypothesized that SCs may play an important role in regulating MSC proliferation and differentiation through the paracrine signaling pathway.
