Purpose: To evaluate the anticancer effect of chrysin and its additive combination with low-dose cisplatin in human glioma (U87) cancer cells and to study its underlying mechanism.
Methods: Inverted phase and fluorescence microscopic studies were done to demonstrate the effect of chrysin and its combination with cisplatin on cellular morphology and apoptosis. Annexin V-FITC assay was used to quantify the extent of apoptosis in chrysin and chrysin+cisplatin treated cells.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and short term prognosis of Tirofiban in different treatment duration in patients with acute ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) combined with intracoronary injection.
Methods: A total of 125 patients with acute STEMI were enrolled in this study. They were randomly divided into two groups: control group ( = 61) and Tirofiban group ( = 64).

The aim of the study is to study the correlation of genetic polymorphism of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) gene with susceptibility to primary lung cancer. A total of 414 patients with primary lung cancer and 338 healthy volunteers were enrolled in this case-control study from September 2008 to October 2011. Gene identification with PCR-RFLP (polymerase chain reaction-based restriction fragment length polymorphism) was used to detect in white blood cells from the subjects the single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) of VEGF gene, including +405G/C, -460 T/C, -1154G/A, -2578C/A sites.

The nuclear transcription factor Krüppel-like factor 4 (KLF4) has an important role in cellular biological processes. However, the influence of KLF4 on collagen metabolism remains to be elucidated. In the present study, the effects and underlying mechanism of action of KLF4 on collagen metabolism was investigated in human hepatic stellate cells (HSC), by downregulating KLF4 expression using small interfering RNA (siRNA).

Transplantation of neural stem cells (NSCs) in the injured spinal cord has been shown to improve functional outcome. However, the influence of NSCs transplantation on the sensory function and analgesic behaviors has not been elucidated yet. Here, we investigated whether transplanted NSCs would improve sensory function in rats subjected to complete cord transection (T10) and explore the underlying mechanism.

Immature endothelial progenitor cells (EPC) carrying osteocalcin (OCN) might mediate vascUlar calcification in coronary artery disease (CAD). Spotty calcification within atherosclerotic plaque is associated with cardiovascular events. The aim of the present study was to assess the correlation between immature EPC levels and spotty calcification in CAD patients.

Objective: To clarify the relationship between the laminoplasty opening size (LOS), the laminoplasty opening angle (LOA) and the increase in sagittal canal diameter (SCD) and to predict the amount of canal enlargement during open-door cervical laminoplasty (ODCL).
Methods: Formula describing the relationship between LOS and LOA, the increase in SCD was deduced. The parameters of pre- and postoperative computed tomography scans of 36 patients who had undergone laminoplasty surgery were measured by picture archiving and communication system (PACS) software, and the amount of canal enlargement of these patients was predicted when the opening size of laminoplasty was 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16 mm according to the formula.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the role of EphA2 in the carcinogenesis and progression of gastric carcinoma. Moreover, we aimed to determine the effect of geldanamycin (GA), an inhibitor of Hsp90, on the proliferation and apoptosis of human gastric carcinoma cells. Gastric carcinoma tissues, paired adjacent mucosa and paired normal mucosa were obtained from resected surgical specimens of gastric carcinoma, and EphA2 mRNA and protein levels were assessed by RT-PCR, immunohistochemistry and western blot analysis.

The persistent primitive hypoglossal artery (PPHA) is a rare fetal variant of carotid-basilar anastomosis that increases the risk of ischemia and embolic infarction within the posterior cerebral circulation in patients with carotid stenosis proximal to the origin of the PPHA. A man presented with severe stenosis of the right internal carotid artery with extension to the origin of a PPHA. The area of stenosis was at a high position, which contraindicated carotid endarterectomy.

Background: The aim of this study was to investigate the safety and efficacy of dalteparin during an elective percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) procedure in a large cohort.
Materials And Methods: In this prospective, randomized, open-label design study, 733 patients undergoing elective PCI were divided into an unfractionated heparin group (group 1, 323 patients) or a dalteparin group (group 2, 410 patients). Blood samples were collected before and 18-24 h after the PCI procedure to determine the serum levels of cardiac troponin I (cTnI) and creatine kinase isoenzyme MB.

Objective: To evaluate the multi-function rapid allergic skin test instrument for application in drug allergy testing.
Method: Three hundred patients were planned to be treated with cephalosporins Injection were divided randomly into 3 groups, the new allergic skin test instrument group, normal allergic skin test instrument group, and traditional skin test group, the true positive rate and false positive rate were calculated. Using multifunctional rapid allergy skin test was carried out on 210 cases of volunteers preliminary clinical evaluation of traditional Chinese medicine injections skin test.

The aim of this study was to examine the therapeutic effect of oxymatrine, a monomer isolated from the medicinal plant Sophora flavescens Ait, on the hepatic lipid metabolism in non-alcoholic fatty liver (NAFLD) rats and to explore the potential mechanism. Rats were fed with high fructose diet for 8 weeks to establish the NAFLD model, then were given oxymatrine treatment (40, 80, and 160 mg/kg, respectively) for another 8 weeks. Body weight gain, liver index, serum and liver lipids, and histopathological evaluation were measured.
