Background: Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) represents a challenging cardiovascular condition characterized by normal systolic function but impaired diastolic performance. Despite its increasing prevalence, therapeutic options remain limited. This study investigated the metabolic effects of canagliflozin, a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, on cardiac function and energy metabolism in HFpEF.

Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is a common cerebrovascular disease characterized by a high incidence, disability rate, and mortality. Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), a key catechin compound found in green tea, has received increasing attention for its potential neuroprotective and therapeutic effects in neurological disorders. Studies have indicated that EGCG may influence various signaling pathways and molecular targets, including the inhibition of oxidative stress, reduction of inflammatory responses, suppression of cell apoptosis, regulation of cell survival, and enhancement of autophagy.

Background: While femoral head replacement is widely used with remarkable efficacy, the complexity and diversity of postoperative complications pose a serious prognostic challenge. There is an urgent need to develop a clinical prediction model that can integrate multiple factors and accurately predict the risk of postoperative complications to guide clinical practice and optimize patient management strategies. This study is dedicated to constructing a postoperative complication prediction model based on statistics and machine learning techniques, in order to provide patients with a safer and more effective treatment experience.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a progressively developing condition primarily characterized by the deterioration of articular cartilage and the proliferation of bone, along with ongoing inflammation. Although the precise pathogenesis remains somewhat elusive, restoring the homeostatic balance of the intra-articular microenvironment is crucial for the management of OA. Intra-articular injection of medication is one of the most direct and effective treatment methods; however, most injectable drugs used for osteoarthritis treatment, due to their rapid breakdown, quick release, poor biological activity, and frequent injections, leading to increased risk of infection and suboptimal therapeutic outcomes.

Glenohumeral osteoarthritis (GOA) is characterized by chronic inflammation leading to joint damage. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) derived from mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are promising therapies because of their immunomodulatory functions. The anti-inflammatory effects of EVs from human Adipose-derived MSCs (hADSCs) overexpressing microRNA (miR)-146a were investigated in experimental GOA in this study.

Background: Identifying the responsible pathogen is crucial for precision medicine in intracranial infections, and Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) Metagenomic Next-Generation Sequencing (mNGS) is a reliable method for this detection. However, the indiscriminate utilization of this approach may impose a financial burden on both patients and society. The study aims to investigate the optimal conditions for applying CSF mNGS in patients with suspected intracranial infections, offering valuable references for precision medicine of intracranial infections.

To explore the effects of canagliflozin on cardiac function and its regulation of ferroptosis in rats with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). Thirty-two 7-week-old Dahl salt-sensitive rats were selected and randomly divided into four groups: the control group (fed with low-salt diet), the HFpEF group (fed with high-salt diet), the canagliflozin 20 group (fed with high-salt diet and 20 mg·kg·d canagliflozin), and the canagliflozin 30 group (fed with high-salt diet and 30 mg·kg·day canagliflozin). Body weight and blood pressure of the rats in each group were monitored.

Cognitive dysfunction is an important comorbidity of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Sodium butyrate (NaB) is a short-chain fatty acid and has an effect improving T2DM-associated cognitive dysfunction. Using a high-fat diet (HFD)/streptozotocin (STZ)-induced T2DM mouse model, the present study investigated the mechanism involved in the beneficial effect of butyrate on diabetic cognitive dysfunction, with a focus on ameliorating mitochondrial damage through regulating the adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase/peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma coactivator 1α (AMPK/PGC-1α) pathway considering the important role of mitochondrial impairments in the occurrence of T2DM-associated cognitive dysfunction.
