Background: Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is the most aggressive subtype of breast cancer, characterized by advanced disease stage and poor prognosis. Moreover, due to the lack of therapeutic markers, TNBC patients can't benefit fully from currently available targeted therapies.

Methods: To fully understand the molecular basis of TNBC, we used gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) to screen out the most altered functional module in TNBC, from publicly available microarray data and studied the association of the candidate gene with TNBC development.

Increasing amounts of evidence show that insulin can activate different insulin signaling pathways to promote breast cancer growth and invasion. miR-29a plays crucial roles in decreasing glucose-stimulated insulin secretion, as well as in regulating breast cancer cell proliferation and EMT. However, the mechanism responsible for the regulatory effects of miR-29a on breast cancer growth and invasion and the relationship between these effects and insulin signaling remains unclear.

Purpose Of The Study: To investigate whether CCL18 is involved in breast cancer, and the relationship between CCL18 and MVD (MVD was recognized by CD34) which is a well-accepted angiogenic maker of multiple cancers including breast cancer.

Patients And Methods: Immunohistochemistry staining for CCL18 and CD34 was performed on 179 cases, including 29 normal cases as control, 47 cases with benign breast diseases, and 103 cases with breast cancer.

Results: We found that CCL18 was significantly up-regulated in breast cancer samples as compared with benign tumors or normal breast tissues.

The protective effect of rhein lysinate (RHL) on Alzheimer's disease (AD) was explored in senescence-accelerated mouse prone-8 (SAMP8) mice. SAMP8 mice without treatment were used as the AD-positive control, and senescence-accelerated-resistant mice were used as the AD-negative control.
