Bone adhesive is a promising candidate to revolutionize the clinical treatment of bone repairs. However, several drawbacks have limited its further clinical application, such as unreliable wet adhesive performance leading to fixation failure and poor biodegradability inhibiting bone tissue growth. By incorporating catechol groups and disulfide bonds into polyurethane (PU) molecules, an injectable and porous PU adhesive is developed with both superior wet adhesion and biodegradability to facilitate the reduction and fixation of comminuted fractures and the subsequent regeneration of bone tissue.

Bone adhesive has been proved to be a promising alternative in the clinical treatment of bone repairs. However, the problems of unsatisfying bone-bonding strength, especially the bonding of cortical bone in vivo, and blocked bone tissue recovery remain barriers to clinical reparation. Benefit from dopamine-modified castor oil synthesized by an epoxy-modification method, a porous and two-component polyurethane adhesive (PUA) was prepared to overcome the current challenges encountered.

Routine administration of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) after injury is extensively used approach for THO. However, serious adverse events can occur in the event of an overdose of NSAIDs.

The use of a screw for repairing defected bones is limited by the dilemma between stiffness, bioactivity and internal fixation ability in current products. For polymer bone screw, it is difficult to achieve the bone stiffness and osteo-induction. Polymer composites may enhance bioactivity and mechanical properties but sacrifice the shape memory properties enormously.

Background And Objective: FBXW7, known as a general tumor suppressor, is commonly lowly expressed in metastatic malignancies. We aim to investigate the potential influence of FBXW7 overexpression on renal cell carcinoma (RCC) metastasis.
Methods: We employed quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) and Western blotting (WB) to quantify the FBXW7 expression in RCC cell lines.

Spinal cord injury (SCI) is lead to locomotor impairment because of neurological damage after following trauma. Quercetin (Que) has been confirmed to have a neuro-protective effect during nerve damage processes. The purpose of this study was to determine the roles of Que in functional recovery, cavity formation, astrocyte activation, and nerve regeneration following SCI.

The present study demonstrated that chaetocin, a natural small-molecule product produced by Chaetomium fungal species and a potential anticancer agent, inhibited the viability and invasive ability of the human intrahepatic cholangio-carcinoma cell line CCLP-1 in vivo and in vitro as revealed by CCK-8 and Transwell invasion assays and mouse xenograft tumor experiments. As determined using flow cytometry and intracellular ROS assays, chaetocin was found to induce cell cycle arrest and oxidative stress, leading to CCLP-1 cell apoptosis. Cell apoptosis can be initiated via different apoptotic signaling pathways under oxidative stress.

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) serve comprehensive roles in various diseases, including cancer. lncRNA upregulated in bladder cancer 1 (linc-UBC1) is a notable biomarker of prognosis in certain cancer types; however, its involvement in the progression of colorectal cancer (CRC) remains unknown. The present study aimed to investigate the expression of linc-UBC1 in patients with CRC and to investigate its effect on CRC cells.

The investigation of the mechanism of insomnia could provide the basis for improved understanding and treatment of insomnia. The aim of this study is to investigate the abnormal functional connectivity throughout the entire brain of insomnia patients, and analyze the global distribution of these abnormalities. Whole brains of 50 patients with insomnia and 40 healthy controls were divided into 116 regions and abnormal connectivities were identified by comparing the Pearson's correlation coefficients of each pair using general linear model analyses with covariates of age, sex, and duration of education.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most prevalent heart rhythm disorder, and autonomic nervous system (ANS) is important to AF. This study aims to identify whether changes in transmitters released by ANS could reflect their activities. The right atrium (RA) groups (1-40V) included RA500 and RA1000.

Objective: Investigating functional specialization is crucial for a complete understanding of the neural mechanisms of primary insomnia (PI). Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) is a useful tool to explore the functional specialization of PI. However, only a few studies have focused on the functional specialization of PI using resting-state fMRI and results of these studies were far from consistent.

The expression level of microRNA-208a (miR-208a) in a rat model with myocardial infarction and the effect of cAMP-PKA signaling pathway in early stage of myocardial infarction in rats were investigated. The early myocardial infarction model was established in 12 male Sprague-Dawley rats by ligation of the anterior descending coronary artery, and 12 rats were selected as the control group (sham operation group). Reverse-transcription quantitative PCR was conducted to detect the expression levels of miR-208a in the myocardium of and the expression levels of miR‑208a in the serum of rats in the two groups.

Histone deacetylases (HDACs) are highly expressed in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) and are associated with poor prognosis of these patients. The aim of the present study was to explore the inhibitory effects of HDAC inhibitors on ICC cells and identify effective and sensitive drugs for ICC. Effects of 34 HDAC inhibitors were screened through two rounds of cell viability assays, and HC toxin, a cyclic tetrapeptide first isolated from the secondary metabolite of Helminthosporium carbonum, exhibited an antitumor activity superior to that of the other HDAC inhibitors and gemcitabine.

Purpose: The study aimed to explore the regional spontaneous activity changes in primary insomnia (PI) patients.
Materials And Methods: Based on the resting-state fMRI datasets acquired from 59 PI patients and 47 healthy controls, a two-sample t-test was performed on individual normalized regional homogeneity (ReHo) maps. Relationships between abnormal ReHo values and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), the self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) and the self-rating depression scale (SDS) were investigated with Pearson correlation analysis.

Three-dimensional ultrasound speckle tracking imaging was used to evaluate the effects of recombinant human brain natriuretic peptide (rhBNP) in acute anterior and extensive anterior myocardial infarction. Ninety patients with acute anterior or extensive myocardial infarction were randomly divided into 3 groups: Group A [emergency percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI)], Group B (emergency PCI + rhBNP early treatment), and Group C (emergency PCI + late rhBNP treatment). Within 6 h of admission and at 1 week and 3 and 6 months after PCI, patients underwent routine transthoracic echocardiography and real-time three-dimensional echocardiography.

Background: Betatrophin may increase islet β cell proliferation in insulin resistance and irisin may improve glucose tolerance in mice. To examine the relationship between betatrophin and irisin, we investigated it in middle-aged Chinese subjects with normal glucose tolerance (NGT) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).
Methods: A total of 460 permanent residents of Fengxian District, aged 40-60 years and without T2DM, were enrolled.
