Ageing is defined as the degeneration of physiological functions in numerous tissues and organs of an organism, which occurs with age. As we age, the gut undergoes a series of changes and weaknesses that may contribute to overall ageing. Emerging evidence suggests that β-nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) plays a role in regulating intestinal function, but there is still a lack of literature on its role in maintaining the colon health of ageing mice.

Multiport robots are now widely used for total gastrectomy for gastric cancer, while there is almost a void of research on whether single-port (SP) robots can be used for total gastrectomy. Here, we report a case of a 75-year-old female patient who was diagnosed with gastric cardia adenocarcinoma by gastroscopy and underwent total gastrectomy assisted by the SHURUI SP robot. We successfully accomplished total gastrectomy and D2 lymph node dissection using the novel SP robotic platform.

Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) infection of monocytes results in the production of inflammatory cytokine through inflammasome. However, the mechanism of NLR family pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome activation in HCMV infection remains unclear. In this study, HCMV infection promoted the increase of mitochondrial fusion and caused mitochondrial dysfunction in THP-1 cells, including excessive reactive oxygen species production and decreased mitochondrial membrane potential (Δψm).

Background: In patients with coronary artery disease who are being evaluated for percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), procedures can be guided by fractional flow reserve (FFR) or intravascular ultrasonography (IVUS) for decision making regarding revascularization and stent implantation. However, the differences in clinical outcomes when only one method is used for both purposes are unclear.
Methods: We randomly assigned 1682 patients who were being evaluated for PCI for the treatment of intermediate stenosis (40 to 70% occlusion by visual estimation on coronary angiography) in a 1:1 ratio to undergo either an FFR-guided or IVUS-guided procedure.
