Objective: To examine the correlation between Atherogenic Index of Plasma (AIP) levels and the progression of non-target lesion vascular disease following the deployment of Drug-eluting Stents (DES).
Methods: We retrospectively enrolled patients who had undergone successful treatment for CAD with DES and subsequently underwent a coronary angiography follow-up at the Cardiology Department of Tianjin Third Central Hospital from January 2017 to July 2022. The annual change in Gensini Score (GS) was calculated according to two angiographic evaluations in order to assess the progression of non-target lesion vascular disease; a change greater than 1 indicated progression, while a change of 1 or less indicated stability.

Background: With the fast pace of modern life, people have less time for meals, but few studies have examined the association between the habit of fast eating and metabolic diseases.
Objective: Combining the results of the current study and the prior ones, we aimed to investigate the possible relationship between fast eating and the risk of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD).
Methods: This is a sub-analysis of a multicenter cross-sectional study of 1965 participants investigated the association between fast eating and MASLD in Chinese.

Elderly individuals undergoing surgical procedures are often confronted with the peril of experiencing postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD). Prior research has demonstrated the exacerbating effect of sevoflurane anesthesia on neuroinflammation, which can further deteriorate the condition of POCD in elderly patients. Intermittent fasting (IF) restricts food consumption to a specific time window and has been demonstrated to ameliorate cognitive dysfunction induced by neuropathic inflammation.

Background: Herpes zoster (HZ) typically manifests in the acute phase with distinct blisters and severe neuropathic pain. Remarkably, a subset of patients initially presents with only a mild skin rash and moderate pain that gradually intensifies, following a parabolic pattern. Despite being frequently observed in clinical settings, the underlying causes of this trajectory and its potential connection with post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN) remain unclear.

LD4, a novel porphyrin derivative, has attracted much attention for its excellent anti-inflammatory properties. It can promote the healing of colonic mucosa, reduce inflammatory response, regulate oxidative stress, and thus improve ulcerative colitis (UC) symptoms. However, the specific signaling pathways of LD4-PDT involved in UC have not been explored.

Objective: To explore the functional connectivity (FC) characteristics of the episodic memory network (EMN) in amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI) patients with different levels of executive function (EF).
Methods: This study included 76 participants from the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative database, comprising 23 healthy controls (HCs) and 53 aMCI patients. Based on EF levels, aMCI patients were categorized into aMCI-highEF and aMCI-lowEF groups.

Purpose: Clinical studies have demonstrated the intricate association between the onset and progression of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and the activation of the inflammatory cascade reaction. This study delves into investigating the causal links between 91 circulating inflammatory proteins (CIPs) and OSA through the application of Mendelian randomization (MR) techniques.
Methods: Utilizing genetic data on OSA sourced from the Finnish Biobank (FinnGen) Genome-wide Association Studies (GWAS) of the European population, alongside summary-level GWAS data of CIPs from 14,824 European participants, we conducted a bidirectional MR study.

Disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) is considered to be the most common and lethal complication of sepsis. NLR-family pyrin domain-containing-3 (NLRP3) inflammasome plays an important role in host defense against microbial pathogens, and its deregulation may cause coagulation cascade and should be strictly managed. Here, we identified the deubiquitinase YOD1, which played a vital role in regulating coagulation in a NLRP3 inflammasome-dependent manner in sepsis induced by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).

A magnetic composite (FeO@SiO@PNIPAM-co-NHMA) with high adsorption capacity and recoverability was developed for the enrichment and determination of flavonoids in Scutellaria Radix (SR). A magnetic solid-phase extraction (MSPE) technique using FeO@SiO@PNIPAM-co-NHMA absorbent in combination with high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was developed for selectively enrichment and determination of the biologically active flavonoids in the aqueous extract of SR, including baicalein, baicalin, wogonoside and wogonin. Under the optimized experimental conditions, the magnetic adsorbent could adsorb up to 77.

Lecanicillium dimorphum and Lecanicillium psalliotae are fungi that exist naturally in plants or insects, and are generally considered non-pathogenic to humans. However, in this case, we cultured Lecanicillium from the synovial fluid of a patient, and identified it through genome sequencing and sequence alignment as Lecanicillium dimorphum or Lecanicillium psalliotae. Due to the conservation of sequences, we can only identify the genus and not the species.

Background: Patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) exhibit unfavorable clinical outcomes, accompanied by high morbidity/mortality. In recent years, the management of HNSCC has encountered a significant obstacle. Z-DNA binding protein 1 (ZBP1) exerts crucial biological functions in chronic inflammatory disease and cancer.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) presents a malignant pathology known for its high early recurrence rate following curative treatment, significantly impacting patient prognosis. Currently, effective strategies to mitigate early HCC recurrence remain undetermined. In this report, we document a case of HCC managed with curative radiofrequency ablation (RFA), particularly in a patient facing a high risk of early recurrence due to a substantial tumor size.

A growing body of evidence shows that vasculogenic mimicry (VM) is closely related to the invasion and metastasis of many tumor cells. Although the estrogen receptor (ER) can promote initiation and progression of renal cell carcinoma (RCC), how the downstream biomolecules are involved, and the detailed mechanisms of how ER expression is elevated in RCC remain to be further elucidated. Here, we discovered that long noncoding RNA (LncRNA)-SERB is highly expressed in tumor cells of RCC patients.

Objective: We aimed to investigate the value of quantitative parameters derived from dynamic contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (DCE-US) and a combination of these quantitative parameters with the LR-M classification criteria in distinguishing hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) nodules and non-HCC malignancies.
Methods: HCC and non-HCC malignant nodules were grouped using pathologic results, and each nodule was classified using CEUS LI-RADS 2017. Quantitative CEUS analysis of each nodule was performed using VueBox, and quantitative parameters were compared between the HCC and non-HCC groups.

Background: Differences in border zone contribute to different outcomes post-infarction, such as left ventricular aneurysm (LVA) and myocardial infarction (MI). LVA usually forms within 24 h of the onset of MI and may cause heart rupture; however, LVA surgery is best performed 3 months after MI. Few studies have investigated the LVA model, the differences in border zones between LVA and MI, and the mechanism in the border zone.

Background: Contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) is considered as an efficient tool for focal liver lesion characterization, given it allows real-time scanning and provides dynamic tissue perfusion information. An accurate diagnosis of liver lesions with CEUS requires a precise interpretation of CEUS images. However,it is a highly experience dependent task which requires amount of training and practice.
